I mean, writing vampire AUs is completely on brand for me (and I will not apologise for it) but I am still a little impressed that I somehow managed to create one for Slow Horses of all things (and that people actually enjoyed it)

To be perfectly honest there's only like 2 paragraphs of this and I had to struggle to remember what my plans were 😂, but I'm pretty sure it's A. yet another (🤷‍♀️) vampire au, and B. something like the centuries-old Rider family thing you just mentioned in one of your posts. All I've got so far - roughly - is Julia turning John, John eventually coming home and finding Ian with Alex because (sadly) Helen has died and everyone assumed John was dead. John then attacking Ian because he's still pretty new with little control and he's *starving* but fleeing before he kills him.

John coming back a few years later (because he misses his family) to a somewhat prepared Ian who went off and did some research/training because he figured John would come back and there's no way he hallucinated all of That (got the bite scars to prove it) and he's not *really* a match for John, but it's enough that they can come it some kind of truce - prove that John's still himself enough for Ian to accept, with enough control that he won't kill him, and that John isn't going to just swoop in and turn/kidnap him or Alex. At least not yet.

In the end John eventually turning both of them (possibly because they're injured, or sick and dying, but I haven't thought that far ahead. Too many options) and then they're just this little fucked up vampire family who have to keep moving around and are regularly signing up with armies or acting as spies because it's a good way to get food and then quickly disappear, but also because they seem to be good at that kind of work.

Every few decades one or more of them probably needs to take a break from the others on a different continent or something, Alex is stuck as a teenager, much to his resentment, and Julia is totally John's toxic ex/maker who he keeps going back to over and over much to Ian's exasperation and/or concern.

(who knows how much of this would actually make it into the fic, but the Vision is there)

(and obviously we've talked about the concept at some point, so I'm sure I can go back and remind myself what the hell I was getting at)

This is a canon divergent sort of AU where (backstory) Yassen was captured in Malta along with John and sort of semi-defected (was really just in custody and torn between Scorpia/escape and following John) and then once John is killed the Department isn't quite sure what to do with him so they essentially dump him on Ian, figuring that Yassen's clear loyalty/love for John (despite the double-agent thing) might extend at least a little bit to his brother, meaning that he won't run straight back to Scorpia and/or start killing everyone, and maybe Ian can even talk him round to actively helping them. At the very least they'd like an agent to keep an eye on him, and ideally an agent that Yassen won't immediately kill.

Ian, of course, being now suddenly a father who is grieving his brother and sister in law and has probably only just moved into this house, isn't entirely thrilled with the idea, but he's not really given a chance to say no, so he ends up with both a new baby and a potentially murderous housemate.
