INCOMING REPORT!

All students who have undergone involuntary bonding are being asked to report to the main office to have it sorted out. Once there, the supreme has been extending an offer: dissolution or solidification? Those students who so choose may embark upon the trial bonding process with the partner to whom they were celestially bound. Otherwise they are welcome to dissolve the tenuous and unstable connection of the celestial bond.  Students who wish to take advantage of this should follow usual OOC bonding protocol! If not, you may all now consider your “celestial” bonds officially dissolved.

Don’t forget danger prompts go out tonight.  After this we’re going to be figuring out a more organized system for this. Truthfully we didn’t anticipate coven growing so quickly and everyone being so active, oops ! But we’re so thrilled you are, of course ! Not sure if you have a thread that qualifies, or trying to get one started? Here’s the current list of members who are tapped to get a prompt tonight (if a character had more than one thread in a hotspot location, we randomized which thread will receive the prompt). Remember, each character only gets one prompt so if you don’t have one yet and want one, go hit up someone else who isn’t on the list (feel free to make an ooc note stating you’re searching for a hotspot partner, just make sure it’s in one of these locations) !! Also, if you think we missed your thread, please send us a message and we’ll get you added!!

edit: we’ll be sending out all tapped threads’ prompts around 5pm est, however if you manage to get up a thread sometime through today or tomorrow we’ll still send you a prompt (so consider hitting up the new members tonight if you’re looking for more options as well)!

WHISPERS SUGGEST..

that the wyld circle is somehow to blame for this strange occurrence. with the coincidental rise in familiar powers before the spontaneous bonding, there have been rumors that it was an experiment to strengthen familiars that somehow backfired. members of the blue bloods have been propagating this thought, which has perhaps led to the increase in tension between the two covens.

The Baridegi Historic Society would like to inform students of an impending celestial event! They have been pouring over historic records, star charts, and scrying tools and have discovered that there is going to be a spectacular meteor shower soon! It should be very visible across campus, but especially up the mountain a little further, of course. Historically, celestial events have been tied to the strengthening of wild magic… I wonder what this will mean for our resident familiars? Stay tuned for updates!

That the Order is responsible for the recent influx of spidery creatures lurking in dark and wooded corners of campus - there are rumors that they finally managed to summon some rather low level demons, which promptly escaped away from them.  One thing is for sure- its probably not a great time to be in a hotspot location...

INCOMING REPORT !

A group of students returned from the caves reporting strange sounds coming from within. they were too scared to enter the network of caves themselves and brought a report back to the staff. are you brave enough to explore? 

welcome to our first activity prompt! here’s how it works. students interested in exploring the caves will be eligible to receive 3 points in the next activity check provided they have a thread that addresses the prompt. this thread must be started within five days of the prompts posting (aug. 26th). for this prompt, students may only have one thread, for reasons which will become clear. IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE please reply to this post! if you’d like to participate and want to find someone new to post with, feel free to indicate that on your reply e.g. participating & looking for a partner!

PROMPT ! you and your partner hear the reports of strange sounds from the caves and decide, for whatever reason, that it definitely sounds like something fun to explore over the weekend. it is early afternoon when you set out, making your way through the forests to the cliffside where the most accessible opening to the network of caves sits. as you approach the mouth of the cave you can hear a strange and distant sound. it is a disembodied, otherworldly sort of singing- the voice (or is it voices, its sort of hard to tell) sounds terribly, terribly sad, lamenting some cruel twist of fate or long lost love. as you and your companion creep through the caves towards the voices, you suddenly find a strange mist has begun emitting from an unknown source. you don’t know why but it fills you with an unspeakable dread: you know instinctively that coming into contact with that mist is a terrible idea. this is confirmed when it starts to creep closer to you, as if seeking you out. it makes your skin feel almost like it’s burning even if there are no physical abnormalities (that you can see, at least). this leads you and your companion to take refuge inside of the caves (though it seems more like a maze now that you’ve wandered deeper). the mist seems to be chasing after you though, blocking off pathways, almost herding you into deeper into the network of caves. it quickly becomes apparent that you’ll need to find another way out, before the mist traps you inside. DETAILS !

you may have one thread responding to the prompt with either 2 or 3 muses involved. the caves and passageways will not fit any more than that.

each group of students is completely isolated from the others, you only have your companion to interact with.  the duration of the thread will take place in one afternoon-evening of IC time, from early afternoon on sunday to early monday morning (2-3am) when the mist will dissipate. your character may escape before this time - there are numerous exits to the cave system; some emerge in the deep woods, others at the top of the mountain, still more are rumored to connect to the waterfall cave network. if your character can’t find a way out, they will be able to escape from the main entrance after 3am, assuming they can retrace their steps.... this is geared at character development - try getting stuck with someone you hate, someone you’re fighting with, etc. anything to push your muse from their comfort zone. the voice is a siren call by something in the mountain that uses the mists to shroud its presence to some terrible end- you really, definitely cannot remain in the mist for too long. trust your instincts and get moving! it causes a minor pain upon contact, one that increases the longer your skin is exposed. it emits no odor and is a pearlescent white sort of color rather than a flat grayish white.

your light source is whatever you’ve brought in with you - hopefully it has batteries or is magically powered, because if it dies...well... its dark down there! please tag your thread with cv:promptone if you are participating!

that the ancient ones might very well have been responsible for tampering with the apothecary’s potions, causing the wild hallucinations. or maybe the apothecary is just trying to cover for their own mistakes...

EVENT UPDATE ! 

As the party continues, the night deepens, hours passing beneath fairy lights and the glow of the moon. The students delight in the potions offered, tossing back teacups of sparkling liquid that plays light on their tongues, tastes like honey and bathes their senses in a pleasant warmth, prompts their moods to new heights. The festivities are a hit across the board, students reveling in hedonistic pursuits and music filtering from speakers charmed and hidden in the heights of the trees.

Gradually, the airy and light mood seems to change, a stiffening coming over the student's shoulders, a malaise of uncertainty and anxiousness bubbling up in the crowd. Tension mounts, straining the atmosphere until a single shrieking cry pierces the quiet murmur of the crowd.

"Ghosts!"

The reaction is instantaneous, chaos descending as students scramble. Reports of sightings are shouted in a flurry, shared amongst nervous and panicked students as they trip over petticoats and tree roots, the lights strung overhead flickering on and off erratically, without rhyme or reason and the darkness of the forest in the moments without light seems infinite. Students scatter, each making their way to a refuge of some kind, either fleeing back towards the school or deeper into the woods, overcome with terror.

DETAILS !

of course you didn’t think it would be a simple party, right? now when the LDB made the dubious choice of hosting it in the deep forest, a current hotspot location! you can incorporate this portion of the event at any point in your thread, or start new ones to reflect the new activity. you can continue your threads without the apparitions appearing as well, as timeline wise they can be together before the apparitions appear, and either choose to introduce them later or not at all.

if/whenever you do incorporate the apparitions, begin tagging your threads with cv:madteapartytwo ! this is because you get points for participating in BOTH parts of the event separately, so if for whatever reason you don’t want to participate in one or the other, you still get some points towards character development !

your goal is to make it back to the school and safety - or at least relative safety - good luck! if you have any questions, just send them to the main!

WHAT IS THIS? 

On your way out the door you notice a card slipped beneath your front door - strange, you don’t remember hearing anyone knock, or slide it beneath the crack. When you pick it up it seems to hum, a glow emitting from the moon artfully painted on. When your fingers brush the image it flickers, the envelop opening of its own accord and a card sliding out. Gleaming silver words inform you that you have been invited to join the Life and Death Brigade’s annual fall party - something that has never been open to the public before! The invitation gives a date and time of AUGUST 11 at 7PM EST to AUGUST 18.  

It also notes that the coven will be placing a bulk order with the apothecary for some of their party-drug potions. will you be partaking in the potion consumption? reply to this post with yes or no (they can still attend if they do not want any potions, so don’t feel bad if you put down no, you’re still invited) ! note that this counts as your rsvp so you better reply if you want to get in on the fun!

that the life and death brigade has some indulgent plans to herald in the new school year, involving a specially made selection from the apothecary and the finest liquor that money can buy. who knows if this will be another private bash, or if you could swing yourself an invite - ask nicely!

its a brand new year at baridegi’s academy for gifted youth and you know what that means: time to get involved on campus. join a coven or make a study group but above all else, be sure to keep an eye out. there are rumors of strange occurrences around campus and the surrounding forest and mountain, so its time to keep aware. don’t forget to check here for updates on all the happenings around school - of course, anything tagged rumor is unverified and should be taken with a grain of salt. still, it doesn’t hurt to be prepared!
