this has probably been discussed at length but i like that since the first episode of the show it's been a major theme that sherlock views love as a weakness and then in the special moriarty literally screams that he's sherlock's weakness in sherlock's face while kicking the shit out of him. like that isn't even subtext that's just text

“This has probably been discussed at length” -> not really, actually. 

This is because this fandom talk (in “romantic” terms) only about the relationship about John and Sherlock. Every Johnlock meta has a shit ton of notes, while posts that describe the implication of Sherlock keeping a pic of Irene or the importance of Jim for Sherlock have veeeery little notes, seriously the only popular posts i’ve seen about jim/sherlock and irene/sherlock are “jim is creepy!!!! gross!!!! john is sherlock’s antivirus!!!” and “the moriarty/irene parallel shows us that adlock is just as creepy as sheriarty!!!”

I don’t want to say that Sherlok loves Moriarty, not in the traditional sense at least, but it’s pretty clear that Sherlock feels the same way about Jim and romantic love, in the sense that they are both weakness that distract him.

Apart from what you already said, we have:

Mycroft (in Sherlock’s mind) calling Moriarty “the crack in the lens”, sentence used to describe how Sherlock feels about romantic entanglement

Jim in a wedding dress as Sherlock’s abominable bride. Sherlock in s1 said that he’s married to his work and Jim was his work for s1 and s2. We all know that Sherlock wants distractions - this is why he is a consulting detective in the first place - and Jim gave him the most complex and interesting cases. Even if s2 during TRF, Sherlock smiled when Moriarty kidnapped and poisoned children, because it was “neat”

The Moriarty/Irene parallels which gave me a LOT of OT3 feels. I’ve always said that Jim and Irene are the closest things to romantic love that Sherlock could ever have. Seems I wasn’t so wrong.

Sherlock not answering Mycroft when he asks him if he missed Jim.

I can’t find a link now, but Jim, in Sherlock’s mind, said that Sherlock only found one thing interesting in that case - aka Jim.

Sherlock saying he doesn’t need drugs anymore now that Moriarty is back, which confirms something that us sheriarty shippers have said from the beginning. Cases are an alternative to drugs. Moriarty gives the best cases. There is a link between the two things.[your love is my drug playing in the distance]

I probably missed something, but yeah, I would like to see this discussed more, same with Irene t b h.
