I do have a question which I’m curious about, but what would Jim smell like? He doesn’t seem like the guy to use a perfume/cologne, so maybe he’d smell earthy?

He generally keeps clean and tries not to be stinky. Along with his regular masculine scent, he does smell of pines, dirt, and snow. Just from the environment. I imagine his smell putting the MC at ease and luring them in.

Jon Hamm: I've worn everything on this show, from nothing to a rug wrapped around me to a beautiful bespoke suit.

Kate Carin (Costume Designer): When we see him at the bookshop for the ball, we thought it would be hilarious that Aziraphale had asked him to get really dressed up for it. So we did a bit of a homage to Liberace. So he's got a powder blue dinner suit that's encrusted with rhinestones. And then Douglas asked if we could do some sort of coat to go on top of it for one of the scenes when he leaves. So, of course, we didn't do just a coat. We did a huge ostrich feather coat, which we made from scratch.The girls did all the ombre on the feathers so it matches the dinner suit, gets lighter and lighter blue as it comes to the top, and then he's kind of surrounded by this halo of white feathers.

Sarah-Kate Fenelon (Producer): There is a shot when he emerges from the bookshop to meet all of the demons and say, like, I am who you're looking for, where he looks a little bit like an angel. And the silhouette of him kind of emerging in the light is very epic and is then just completely undercut by sort of, move out of the way. (video)

I do think Blazing Saddles handled its one depiction of native americans very poorly, and the full extent of its representation of chinese workers on the railroad is they were literally just there. not even one single speaking line. unclear if this is worse or better than the redface.

it's fucking phenomenal at lampooning antiblack racism though. extremely blatant, extremely funny satire, which is constantly and loudly saying "racism is the philosophy of the terminally stupid at best and morally depraved at worst, and we should all be pointing and laughing at them 24/7"

plus the main character is a heroic black man who has to navigate a whole lot of bullshit but is constantly smirking at the extraordinarily stupid racists and inviting the audience into the joke. the one heroic white character is a guy who was suicidally depressed until he met the protagonist and they just instantly became buds, and he's firmly in a supporting role the whole time and happy to be there. the protagonist saves the day with the help of his black friends from the railroad, and uses the position of power he was given to uplift not only those friends, but all the railroad workers of other minorities too, in an explicit show of solidarity.

anyone saying "Blazing Saddles is racist" had better be talking about its treatment of non-black minorities. it had better not be such superficial takes as "oh but they say the n-word all the time" or "they have nazis and the kkk in there!" because goddamn if that's the full extent of your critique I very seriously suggest you read up on media analysis. there is too much going over your head, you need to learn to recognize satire.

Hellooo! While I was looking for something to play, I came across your visual novel, and I must say I'm hooked. Your drawing style is really beautiful, and the game's aesthetic is very nice. I can't wait for you to release more chapters <3

Now, back to what I was saying :> I'd like to ask a few things.

1) Were you inspired by someone to make Jim? Maybe that's not the case, but for some reason he reminds me of Dead from the band Mayhem.

2) Is Jim one of those people who hides his jealousy? The kind who are very secretive about it, and it's hard to tell if he's jealous or not, or maybe the type who sticks closer to his partner to "mark his territory."

His personality was mostly inspired by some younger version of me lol And I've always liked the look of sad, longer haired guys haha. I think I had in mind Rei from the manga Mars! Oooh I do find Dead's story interesting. Rip. But I think I listened to Mayhem after making Jim.

Haha he's quiet about being jealous and tries to hide it, but I think an MC that knows him...would find his behavior obvious lmao. His subtle moods. He would probably just stick close and give other person a death stare when the MC isn't looking.
