so we all know the premise by now: kanade must keep composing until she creates a song that can save mafuyu.

but what does it mean to save her?

it's not stopping her from "disappearing." it's not making her smile. it's not helping her find a goal in life. it's not even getting her out of her abusive household. because all of those things have happened already and kanade hasn't so much as patted herself on the back.

considering all that, i don't think kanade will ever "save" mafuyu. none of her songs will ever accomplish that mission. they can't.

because here's the thing. kanade doesn't use her songs as a means to save people. she uses "saving people" as a means to keep making songs. remember, it all goes back to her guilt complex. if mafuyu or someone else doesn't need her music to save them, she feels she has no right to create it.

and she can't imagine her life without music.
