Taken a back at the sudden change of demeanor, chizuru stared at the other dumbly. She was threatening her a while a go and then now, it changed all of sudden, the young page doesn’t know how to handle this properly, for she had been a bit weary to the people that shows her different personality. Like that kaoru, who shares the same face as hers. Startled, she didn’t want to act rude in front of her, so she smiled once again and nodded. “Thank you, Hana-san, that would be a huge help.” Chizuru uttered as she watched her walk away, then the second request is something she can’t do. The captains of shinsengumi and Chizuru has a lot of dark secrets that cannot be told and one of those is chizuru’s sexuality. It’s true that shinsengumi accepted hana-san to be with them due to the reason of her being Hijikata’s niece but chizuru is another thing, if the higher ups knew about this and also the samurai’s knew about this, it would look like that the captains had ruined their Bushido code, and also their name.  So she shook her head as answer, she was a bit guilty with denying things with the only female she knew in this place but for the sake of the safety of everyone she will have to be strong as well. 

“My apologies hana-san, but i have to say no with that nickname.. If people in here heard about how people call me around, they would be suspicious about my gender, but you can call me chizuru-chan , since they are usually used by Okita-san and Heisuke-kun.”

Letting Chizuru take her to the courtyard, Hana listened with a frown. She knew how secretive the other brunette could be and didn’t want to waste unnecessary energy finding it out.

“Between you and the Captains my butt.. Fine, if you aren’t going to tell me, I won’t pry. Just don’t pull the Shinsengumi down with you and your problems. I care too much about them to let that happen..”

She replied, a low growl in her tone. Hana would do anything to protect the Shinsengumi, even if that meant she had to go against her uncle’s orders.

She still lowered her head in apology.  Those words was the same as Okita’s but his was more to intimidate and tease her only but hana is a different one, she was getting suspicious already with what’s happening to shinsengumi and to her and due to hijikata’s request not to spill anything for the safety of his niece as well, chizuru promised not to let her be involve towards ochimizu or demons. Thus this made chizuru distant from her despite her being a female, and the young page wanted on more contact with a girl rather than spend time with guys everyday. “ I know that.. that’s why i’m doing my best not to hinder on their plans and that’s also the reason why i’m keeping everything as it is…”

“That’s why hana-san whatever you heard from earlier.. it’s better you forgot about it and not get involve… “ She gazed at her finally with a glare intent to say that she was serious.

As soon he had left to head towards the commander’s office, Chizuru had finished her task on sweeping the dried leaves on the courtyard, later she will make a bonfire with it to help give warmth for them during the cold breeze of autumn. She then went to venture towards the kitchen halls to grab a small plate and also heat up some tea for the visitor.  After a minute or so, the young page returned to their meeting spot, chizuru’s hand was carrying a try filled with the dango’s iba had bought and also a tea pot and tea cups for them.

“Iba-san, sorry for taking so long. “ She mumbled as she walked ever gently, careful not to drop the things that she was carrying, before settling it down to the tatami floor. “a-ah! please have a sit iba-san, you are our guest here” Chizuru beamed happily towards the brown haired samurai.

“Dango?” she tilted her head to the side as she was offered those sweet delicacy. Chizuru felt her cheeks heat up as her childhood friend seemed to have visited just for her sake. 

“A-ah! of course, just let me finish here a second, you can show up to hijikata-san first too while i prepare the tea and dangos for you.“ she stated as she took the dango sticks from him so she could at least put it in a plate and make some tea. 

“That would be lovely. Thank you.” He left the dango to her and watched after her for a few moments before going to tend to his business with the commander. Once he was done, as promised, he came back around to where he had found Chizuru previously, gaze swinging about to see if he could see her. She didn’t appear to be here yet, but that was alright. He had time – well, as long as the captains didn’t show up (mostly Souji).

When he already set the rules of times regarding his patrol, chizuru’s head perked up with matching enthusiasm. She will go out for the first time, though she felt nervous and felt a little guilty for not coming a long on the first patrol, chizuru tried to push it away to not be able to cause any more conflict to her side.

“H-hai!” Chizuru stated immediately, before bowing to mumble a small thank you towards the indigo haired samurai before lifting her head once again, a curious look plastered on her facial features when he had stated the rules he will set up. “Follow what you say? “ she asked, it was obvious already what he meant but is afternoon really that dangerous time? But then again kyoto is different from Edo. In here they can’t just roam around freely without getting trouble.

“D-demo..” Her head was still in kowtow due to the guilt she was experiencing, to saito it could have been nothing but to chizuru it was something, additional to this guilt was her encounter with okita.  The brunet samurai had commented about why she decided to stay and he had stated that saito had went through a huge risk just to ask for permission for her to be able to go out. Then chizuru kept quiet, knowing that forcing an apology to the taciturn samurai would be nothing so she just let the guilt be on her heart without mentioning it, then afterwards she nodded her head to accept his offer to come along with him on his patrol . “I-If i’m not trouble to you, I would love to come saito-san… I will do my best this time!”

It seemed that it would be harder for Saitou to convince Yukimura that she need not worry about that she had not gone on patrol this morning. From her bowed head he thought that she must still feel a bit guilty. He just sighed and decided to not comment on the matter, especially since it seemed that she was willing to go on the patrol with him this afternoon he wouldn’t bother to mention it.

“Okay. Be ready to leave on time.” Saitou didn’t want to be leaving late to the patrol and he guessed that he would have to allow time for her to ask around about her Father so they couldn’t waste time setting off from the quaters. “Remember you must follow exactly what I say when we’re out there and to notify me if you see anything suspisous.”
