Emergency Crowdfunding Post - Saga's Bladder Surgery
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Please be gentle with me, folks. This is my first time making a crowdfunding post, and I'm trying very hard not to feel like a massive fuckup. The above voidblob is my 18mo old rescue cat Sagitarrius "Saga" A'. Saga came into my life back in November of 2024, and she has brightened my life immensely. Last month, Saga began having some pretty gnarly urinary issues (bleeding, peeing everywhere, clearly in pain). After X-rays, UA testing, and getting absolutely zooted on kitty buprenorphine (hilariously brand-named "Zorbium" apparently), the vet diagnosed her with both a staph UTI and approx. 15 bladder stones. The treatment plan was to try her for a month on prescription urinary food in hopes of dissolving the stones. Bladder stones come in two forms in cats: struvite stones, which can be dissolved with an acidic high-water-content diet, and calcium oxalate stones, which cannot. While the UTI has been successfully treated and she seems more comfortable now, her follow-up X-ray today showed that her stones are of the latter type, and will require surgery to break up and remove to prevent further pain, scarring, and potential obstruction. I am able to shoulder the cost of the surgery in full with my CareCredit account, thankfully. However, cost-of-living increases here in the SF Bay Area and a series of other major expenses have hit my bank account very, very hard this spring. I am hoping to raise 300-500 dollars to help offset the cost of the first payment toward the CareCredit bill next month, as well as the cost of her medication and follow-up visit, my own medication, and food for her and for me. Literally any tiny bit helps. My PayPal is [email protected]; I am happy to provide documentation/receipts regarding her veterinary bills and care via DMs at anyone's request.

The more theories I come across about The Well, the more I love this episode.
Because we actually don't know anything and it's horrific.
The Doctor thinks he left it all nice and tidy and wrapped with a bow. He saved Aliss. And Shaya sacrificed herself to keep the Midnight entity trapped.
Except there's something behind Mo.
Except there were 4 life signs.
So were there three entities? Or were there two? Were there always many or did the Doctor split it by forcing it to face its reflection?
Did the an entity ever actually move to Shaya or did everyone just assume that and Shaya sacrifice herself for nothing?
Did she pull at least one entity down into the well with her? Or was there just a woman tricked into thinking she was doing her duty, doing some good, even as the entity waited patient and silent behind Mo to get off the planet and into a universe of a playground.
Did Aliss truly think that the entity had left her or did we never meet Aliss at all? Was Aliss long since dead and gone and her body just a puppet the Midnight entity was talking through?
Who broke the mirrors? Who corrupted the security footage?
How did Aliss get that cut to her arm?
Were there even rules? Or was the entity just playing? Was it moving to the person that killed its former host because it had to or did it choose to because it found that the most amusing?
Did it choose to leave Belinda for Mo instead of Shaya because it had learned from its old mistake?
We don't know.
We don't know.
We
don't
know

Ren: And then of course when all of us Hermits got together...that time flew by, also, mostly because we were having such a--stinkin' great time together, that, uh, every day was a new joy, that. Sort of disappeared really quick. And I miss everybody already, I gotta say, man. Like, uh, back to...my very solitary existence here in England. Of course, I'm a real life Hermit, so, um, spend most of my time alone, and. I must say it was very nice to have some, uh, people I care about around me for so many days. And not-not just like. Around me, but, you know, we were sort of living together for a bit. And um. It was-it was wonderful. It was so so good. (to himself) Is this a--okay. This is very many, okay, this is four. Let's get these four over the river--this might be a little bit tricky, and there might be another couple others that we spot along the way.
Ren: "Gem was really struggling with missing everyone when she came home and on stream." Yeah, you know, it's, it's-it's Weird, we were, we were in like, an Alternative Universe for a little bit, where everything was perfect, and everything was wonderful, and we didn't--like, all we had--we-we-we basically went back to Eden for a bit, you know? We were basically kids again, where--our entire...uh, like, our only purpose every day was to enjoy the day, and enjoy each other's company, and just hang out and do cool stuff, you know? W-we-we made a pact together. That we would not do any work while we were, um, living together. So, no social media, no checking YouTube, no checking anything, just. Living. You know? Which is something, uh, that YouTubers and streamers don't do very often, so. I think we all really enjoyed...just being alive, for a little bit. (he laughs) And not thinking about anything else but just chilling with each other. (responding to a comment) Yeah, it's a bit like summer camp, yeah, macBcheesy, that's-that's a really apt description of it, I would, uh-I would-I would definitely agree with that, it definitely felt like a summer camp vibe, for sure. Um. But, yeah, very much missing everybody, I think everybody's, uh, missing everyone, missing the times that we had-- Scar: (in a singsong) Ren Diggity Dog~ Ren: (startled) Oh my goodness, there are voices--

Is it possible to “beat” mental illness? Or does it depend on type/circumstance?
“Beating” mental illness is actually the norm, not the exception. Most people who have a major depressive episode never have another one. 80% of people who survive their first suicide attempt never make a second attempt. 93% of Borderline Personality Disorder patients achieve remission. Up to 74% of people with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder achieve significant clinical improvement in their symptoms, and 20% achieve full remission. Half of Generalized Anxiety Disorder patients achieve remission after the acute phase of treatment. Even disorders with relatively low rates of remission - bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, schizoid personality disorder - generally become milder and easier to manage as you age. Psychiatric symptoms tend to peak in your 20s and generally drop off as you get older, especially if you seek treatment.
This is why the narratives we use to talk about mental illness matter so much. Right now, the dominant narrative is that mental illness is “an imbalance in the brain” and that it’s largely something that people are born with. There are upsides and downsides to this. The upside is that it promotes the idea that mental illness is not the ill person’s fault, and it helps us understand that mental illness can impact anyone, regardless of their life circumstances. The downside, however, is that it’s sort of given us this idea that mental illness is inborn and unchangeable. People have taken on the idea that “that’s just how my brain is”, when the reality is that, for most people, mental illness is less of a stable trait for them, and more of just a shitty thing that they are going through for a little while. The idea that mental illness is just “in your brain” also erases the very real connection between your life circumstances and your mental health - while it’s very true that a wealthy person in a happy marriage can become depressed, it’s also very true that living in poor conditions and being in an abusive marriage can be the cause of depression, and that improving your life circumstances can lessen or eliminate mental health conditions.
If you have a mental health condition, it’s very important that you not resign yourself to the idea that you’re going to be like this forever. Chances are, you won’t. Even if you have a mental health condition that is associated with low rates of remission, it is possible to make leaps and bounds in your functioning, and to get to a point where managing your condition becomes second nature to you. Our understanding of mental illness is improving every year, and new therapies and treatments are becoming available all the time. If you seek treatment and do your best to manage your condition, you have every reason to believe that you will make huge improvements.
Hope this answers your question!
