Sorry to all 12 of you who wanted to see my art career blossom, but I’ve made the decision to keep the art I make strictly my own. I do not wish to lose my joy for the craft. The account is staying up as I don’t want to just rob y’all of art you might like, but I ain’t posting anymore.

Social media has always had a very negative psychological effect on me. My art became about numbers and only numbers. I only posted half my art for about half a year because I thought the rest wasn’t good enough to share. I devalued it by assigning arbitrary numbers to it. After a while I’d just only draw what I thought would get me likes, not what I really felt like drawing.

And it worked. My best posts are of characters from shows I don’t hold any love for. Fairy Tail and Naruto are cool shows but I’ve never identified as a fan of anime. The numbers made me happy, but the drawings that gave me the most satisfaction were always the ones I hid from everyone because they held contextual value to me and me alone. I knew they’d never do well and eventually I stopped drawing what I liked the most.

All this to say, social media killed the artist in me and left behind a clout chaser. I have more self respect than this. I’m done. Realistically, I never was going to make it big, but thanks for tagging along anyway.

I understand that people have different opinions on things but hating on a show beneath an art makes it very hard to like it

i would prefer you either stop drawing for fairy tail or at least not hate on it under the art you create for the fandom of the specific show and hate on a separate post with proper tags saying "anti-fairy tail"

"Heartfart" "fire man from bad show" "unfortunately have nostalgia" makes it seem like you just want attention at this point

Brother/sister/sibling just block me at this point. If I’m putting hours into a drawing of a character and posting it in the wee hours of the night with the caption “Lucy heartfart I’m clearly joking. (Not taking into account that we BOTH could be autistic and not read the subtext of the conversation.)

Ur allowed to be upset with my presentation, but it’s easier to remove me from ur feed than for me to change my opinions and expression of them. God bless you.

it's very upsetting to see good art but then hate at the same time of your favorite shows

It’s less that I’m anti-show and more care too much about its flaws. Fairy tail is a show that has so much potential with all its characters, its world, and it’s magic, but it’s all executed in a way that throws it all to the side because Mashima preferred to use the power of friendship to win a fight.

I like fairy tail and it upsets me because I can what it could have been but am stuck with what it is. I understand why Mishima made all the decisions he did in the series. It’s a shonen so it’s catered to young boys. A complex story with thought provoking narratives isn’t needed or expected. He had no friends and grew up without a father so he made fairy tail about found family and healing broken bonds with those who you once held dear. But in between it all is just hamfisted attempts at tear jerkers and egregious fan service

Erza is my favorite character and I had to sit through the whole series watching her character taking a back seat in so many scenes because they NEEDED to show off her body. Lucy is a character with so much potential but the entire first 2/3s of the series have the arcs centered around “oh no Lucy got kidnapped AGAIN so we gotta friendship her out of the clutches of the evil guy who kicks babies and eats elderly women”.

I’m not anti show. I’m anti bad writing. At the end of the day, it’s not that serious though. I’m an American complaining about a Japanese show outside of the target demographic. It simply didn’t suit my tastes but others swear it’s peak. Lemme be a hater.

Tldr: it ain’t that deep. The show could’ve been better.
