Short Story - In Another Lifetime
This is my first short story to put on here. I wrote this during my creative writing class during college and writing this was amazing. I had great feedback from classmates, edited it, and I think this will always be my favorite short story since it was the first finished writing I've done since sophomore of high school. This is also on another writing platform on https://creatingsfk.medium.com/ ! Check it out!
Summary: Rosalind found a video online called "Past Life Regression Meditation" and wondered if she did have a past life. This is her story.
Below is the Youtube video I used when I personally have done this.
youtube
Feedback is always welcome!
I press play on the video wondering if this will work. All I hear in my earbuds is meditative music. I stare at my ceiling slightly, paying attention to the fan spinning on the fastest mode since my a/c broke for the time being. I’m glad my bed is comfy enough for this. I just hope I don’t fall asleep by accident.
I want to learn now. I’ve been feeling some type of weird curiosity. I’ve done a reading, and my guides have told me I can see what my past life was like, even for a few moments. I'm ready to find a way to heal my soul from the past, but first, I need to know what happened.
Hello, I’ll be your guide through this Past Life Regression. I’m Brian Westernly. This will feel like it was fast, but in real life, it will take an hour and a half. I will warn you that if you ever want to stop, simply pause the video, open your eyes slowly, and take nice self-care.
His voice is very soothing. I could fall asleep if I had him in one of my audiobooks. I heard from my friends who do this as a job that this video is perfect for a beginner to get started on anything about past lives. I am unsure how much my soul has done, but I’m still a “fresh” soul.
Close your eyes.
Okay.
Take deep breaths. Breath in… Breathe out… Breathe in… Breathe out…
Jeez, I could sleep. His voice is similar to Richard Marx's, and with the background meditative music, it’s like a lullaby.
Great job!
Thanks!
As we go deeper into this, ensure you are comfortable, have no distractions, and go in with all your senses opening.
That should be easy.
Try to keep a blank mind for now as well.
Damn. Okay, that should be fine, he said for now. Alright, I’ll keep taking deep breaths until I hear his voice again.
As we get deeper and deeper, we start imagining we are in the galaxy, with a billion stars around us, Earth right under us, the moon near us, and we orbit the sun with them. This will be where we will be traveling, jumping through three different stages. For now, come with me to a peaceful place you would like to be, whether it’s real or not, with a place to sit as well.
I don’t go out too much to know anything special, so I’ll make it up. One deep breath in, I see a wonderful garden with a small, pure white round table for two right in the middle. One deep breath out, and as I walk towards the table to sit, I see a slightly cloudy sky, but it’s not gloomy. Sitting down, I see more of the area; there’s no way in or out, just surrounded by mostly rose bushes; the roses are in full bloom and very healthy, and there are white pillars I’d see in Victorian-era shows with arches on top circling me, and there is a faint water rushing sound behind me. Still, when I turn around, there’s nothing but roses. I would love for this place to be real.
I figured you were in your peaceful place, feeling comfortable.
Yep.
Okay, take more deep breaths for a couple of minutes and relax before we start seeing your past self.
I’m a little nervous but more excited. Wait, I need to be relaxed. Okay. I do love the area here. I couldn’t help but look around the whole time, and the atmosphere just made me want to make some tea, read one of my fantasy books, and honestly try to figure out where that sound of rushing water was coming from.
Now, in front of you is a door that will appear. Take in every detail of it to guess where you might be.
As he said, there was a door, but a double door appeared in front of me. I stood up and walked closer to look at the details. It had white golden edges, with some small carvings around it. The handles were also gold, and I suddenly felt the need to make sure I was standing straight with my hands intertwined together.
This will seem a little fast; this first stage will be seeing what this life was like, same with the next stage, and the last stage will be your past life’s last moments before dying.
Okay, I hope this life wasn’t too bad.
Grab the door handle and step in.
The weird thing is, once I even took another step forward to reach the doors, they opened themselves. I see white gloves with red sleeves holding the doors in my peripheral vision. I heard a heel click as I took one step and was greeted by a bright light that slowly formed into a chandelier. “Presenting Lady Amoret Gallaway,” a deep male voice announced, causing everyone to stop talking, dancing, or just doing nothing to stare at me and start clapping. It was a vast ballroom with beautiful decorations and a food table on the right side. That isn’t my name, though. I’m Rosalind Perri. I finally look down and just see a gorgeous Victorian red dress with golden flowers stitched on it. I’m seeing a first-person view of my past life?! This will be interesting once I see her death, but is she a “Lady”?
Take it all in. Memorize what’s there and what kind of feeling you have at this moment through your past life’s eyes.
I almost forgot he was there despite me hearing the meditative music that kept going as background music. Without thinking, I curtsied to everyone, and people returned to their business; the orchestra music from the nearby corner started playing a softer and slower tune. I had never worn these shoes before, and I casually walked forward and saw some stairs that expanded toward the bottom. I looked to my left and saw a handsome guy offering his arm to me. I gently took it and smiled as I walked down the stairs with him.
“Ah, Lady Gallaway,” the male next to me whispered.
“Yes?” I asked, but it’s not me talking. “Is there something wrong?”
“Not really. I do hope you enjoy your ball today. I wish you the best of luck in convincing these people of your proposal for this land,” he answered, giving me a smile that could melt anyone’s heart.
Looking at him up close, I see he has such beautiful apple-green eyes and a squirt beard. I have never seen hair so fluffy yet maintained before. He is handsome as hell!
“Thank you so much,” I said, finally reaching the bottom.
“I’ll see you later, elder sister,” he whispered again before disappearing into the crowd.
Never mind, I take everything back.
This is still me at a different time, and I want to gag. I wonder why he was formal at first. A little weird. Looking around the ballroom, a male was staring at me with almost an obvious villain look, wearing crimson clothes with a hint of black outlines. Then, a gentleman soon made him stop staring at me by talking to him. I just had a chill up my spine for a split second from that small interaction of staring. I turned my head forward, and everyone was gone.
Take deep breaths and keep doing that until I say to open.
I did and took a few deep breaths.
Now, see where you are in this stage and notice the little things.
The first thing I noticed was what appeared to be a meeting room, and I was standing in front of this oval, dark wooden table. No one is in here but me. There is an unfamiliar flag on the right side of the wall, which is made of stone and cement, but there is no decoration on the left side. I walked around the table, pushing some chairs in on the way to the wooden door. I opened it and was greeted by only a hallway with little openings, such as windows.
“Ah, Lady Gallaway!” I turn my head and see a young girl in dull-colored clothing. “I have done the chores needed for tonight’s event!”
“Why thank you, Kira,” I smiled. “Walk with me.”
“Yes, ma’am!” We started walking together down the hall, seeing a peek of what the outside looked like from the little windows we passed, and I only saw a field of grass with a few trees scattered.
“I heard the proposal went smoothly,” Kira spoke.
“It did. Soon enough, we should have enough workers to build houses for those in need. Hopefully, that could also give those a job or will have connections to do so,” I answered.
Kira clapped softly, and seeing her smile just made me butterflies in my stomach. “You are wonderful!”
“Well,” I shrugged. “Without you and everyone else supporting me, I wouldn’t have done it. Especially you.”
We both stopped and stared at each other. Her eyes were like sapphires, and her light brown hair complimented them very well. I started to wipe some dirt off her right cheek with my hand. Her face began to turn red from my touch, but she kept a small smile. I could feel my face warm, and my heart couldn’t stop beating fast just by looking at her. Suddenly, she was gone.
This is the last stage. Brace yourself, for you will see the last moments of your past life. Take a few deep breaths, and know you can leave at any time—just open your eyes.
Why do I have a bad feeling about this? I already feel some pain in my right stomach and a huge headache. The next thing I see is just the ceiling, with my back and butt feeling like there’s some sort of liquid touching my clothes.
“My Lady!” a female voice shrieked. After that shriek, footsteps were heard, and all I saw was the brother and servants surrounding me.
“Lady Gallaway! Who stabbed you?!” One of them asked.
I couldn’t answer.
“Please speak to us!” One begged.
“Sister, we are getting ready for our project. We need you!” the brother begged, and I felt what I thought was his hand, grabbing my left hand.
The pain was unbearable. I felt like I didn't even want to talk.
“No! No!” That voice is Kira’s. “Amoret! Someone put pressure on her wound!”
“She is losing a lot of blood, Kira!” A male servant said, hearing panic in his voice.
“I don’t care!” Kira cried. “Someone, please, I- we can’t lose her!”
I saw and barely felt a touch of her hand with my right hand, and I saw blood staining my palm. This is how Amoret Gallaway died.
“Kir…a…” She’s talking. “I adore you.” The sight began to turn fuzzy, and all I could hear was muffled screams and crying, with only one clear voice saying, “In another lifetime.”
Now, slowly remember that peaceful place you were at and imagine yourself sitting down.
The stomach pain and headache were immediately gone once I looked around at the roses, white furniture, pillars, and arches.
Wow.
There were so many thoughts going through my head I wondered what ever happened before her dying breath.
Take one last deep breath and pull yourself into Earth’s orbit again. The sun is not too bright on you, the moon is near, seeing all the stars you’re probably curious to touch, and slowly imagine yourself back in your present body. Wiggle your fingers and toes to wake up and open your eyes.
I yawned.
As you open your eyes, reflect on what you discovered about yourself and take in some self-care. I am Brian Westernly. Everything you need to contact me is in the description of this video.
I saw my fan spinning above me again. I had never felt so stiff before. I needed this one big stretch that almost shook my whole body. I slowly sat up and watched my bedroom door open, seeing my girlfriend Kami peek her head over.
“Hey, honey! I heard you stretch, so I wondered if you were done?” She asked, tilting her head. Her eyes were perfectly aligned with the sun peeking through my window’s blinds, never realizing how her eyes shined like sapphires.

NAH I JUST REALIZED I CAN SHARE OC’s ON HEREEEEEEEEEE
I HAVE A FEW
✨Misa - the first OC I ever made when I was little that was definitely inspired by Maximum Ride by James Patterson
✨Selene - a more self insert than anything but always involves the moon but I love the moon
✨Vin - first male OC I made mostly inspired by Jason Todd in terms of personality but with a hint of Death the Kid from Soul Eater background. I don’t know how to exactly explain it
All of them need work of course since I haven’t touched them but now I can 🙂‍↕️

So joining back here is a crazy experience knowing how it was back then versus how in navigating it now.
I adore how it is now because back then despite being on it all the time, I still had a hard time navigating it (or I’m just dumb).
What I want to do here is just showing my interests and showing my own creative work which is writing. I have various platforms with others to show my writing and ideas and for some reason this seems like a good place to restart that kind of creative outlet.
Who knows I might revive my fanfic era
