I am obsessed how there was one (1) scene of Carmilla and Vaggie together in which Carmilla literally just kicks the absolute SHIT out of Vaggie and we, collectively as a fandom, decided that yes. Those are ABSOLUTELY grounds for adoption.

#THEY ARE READING CARMILLLAAAAAAAA#RUNNING SCREAMING CRYING#Good soup op!!#although that publisher did censor the section about Matska#which I always found odd and a little unnerving#like I get it#her being a black woman does not read well for Le Fanu#but also it was 1972 and whether it was meant with a racist intention is VERY MUCH up for reader’s interpretation#taking away the text completely makes me very uncomfortable because now it eliminates that debate and the implications of a black vampire#in the text#just feels like the publisher wanted to commercialise queer romance fiction (which… it’s critically kinda not?)#and cash in on the OG sapphic vampire vibes whilst removing any of the original discourse that makes it such an interesting text#anyway rant over#love the art!!#donna beneviento
