Mimi gave Taichi a large grin. “So you admit it was at least a little enjoyable then? Taichi Yagami didn’t want to tear his hair out in a mall?”
She playfully poked at his side. They walked out of the store and back into the main hallway of the mall. Mimi had her bag hanging from her wrist, and slipped her other arm around Taichi’s, leading him further into the mall. Well, it wouldn’t be a total success unless he was actively enjoying himself, that much Mimi knew.
“So, if you’re going to beat my score, you’re going to have to work really hard to find me something that looks nice.” She glanced up at him. “There’s nothing off limit – except lingerie and bathing suits. You find me something nice, and I’ll wear it tomorrow. Think you can handle that?”
“That’s only because I was not by myself doing this.” He wouldn’t come shopping unless it was for new soccer cleats or balls. Even a jersey for when the Fifa cup plays and he gets to root for Japan’s soccer team when they play.
The only ones who can probably get him to come here just for shopping is probably his sister, and Mimi. Not even his mom can. His bag just rested in his hand, in a normal way. Mimi’s way looked like a professional mall shopper. What else was he getting? Weren’t they heading out to his apartment?
His ears perked up at the sound of a challenge. An uncomfortable chuckle escaped him at the word, lingerie? No, he wouldn’t shop for that with her, or alone at that point. “Alright, I got it. You sure you want me to pick something? Last time I went shopping for a girl, I got yelled at.” Sora’s birthday. From then on, he refused shopping for any girl.

Mimi glanced up at Taichi after the long pause he took. So, he was worried about Hikari, then? It made sense. He was always very protective of his sister. It didn’t surprise any of the group anymore just how close the two of them were.
She slipped off Taichi a little, back to her previous position so she could talk to him better. “Hikari is strong. I think she’ll be fine. But maybe it would be better to tell her about your plans well in advance so she has a better time adjusting?”
Being an only child, Mimi had no idea what it must have been like for both Hikari and Taichi, as a younger or older sibling. She didn’t even know if she was giving good advice.
“How far away are you going?” Mimi asked. “She could always come visit you during weekends if you aren’t moving outside of Tokyo.”
Taichi managed to let loose on that protectiveness he felt on his sister. He knew she can handle herself now. She was a strong girl and he would only get in when she asked for it and needed him. But this was totally different than being in the Digital World without her or not.
Hearing her plan, he nodded softly at that. He could ask Yamato, but their situation was different than his. Yamato and Takeru were used to living apart from each other. Hikari and him were always around eachother and he’d look after her when their mom left to the store. “You’re right. Thing is how she’d react when I tell her.”
“You’re right, but Koushiro and I didn’t choose on one just yet. We were looking at the one just outside of Tokyo.. Not too far, but y’know, tough.”

sincerepinkhibiscusrightear:
That was close. Mimi had to stand for a moment, leaning against the wall and let herself calm down. Even if she was someone who was confident, and knew she was attractive, she couldn’t be that forward. She held a hand to her chest, feeling her heart beat heavily.
Taichi sitting up was unexpected, and even she got flustered at how close they got. Luckily she was able to save the situation, play it off. She walked over to the cake, which was still sitting in the cake dish. In their rush to get Taichi’s hands under the water, they forgot to take it out. No matter. She took it out, and checked it. It was cooled off. Icing it, she cut two pieces, putting them on a plate.
She hesitated, slowing her steps as she made her way back to the kitchen. Should she back off from how close she acted? Being distant would only be suspicious. Taichi would probably act like nothing was wrong, so she should too. He saw her as a close friend, which was why he put up with her antics. He still only saw Sora. She wasn’t going to get in the way of that.
“I’m back!” Mimi chirped. She paused for a moment, seeing that he sat up. She shrugged and turned around in front of him, sitting down on his lap. She put her cake down on the coffee table. “Open wide.” She grinned playfully, holding the piece of take up.
Taichi had a whole lot to think about right now. Sure he could have like the slight crush on her as kids. But that was very little and it dissipated when she moved. But maybe it was her being back for good that brought it back? Plus her being this close was bringing that back.
Ah, maybe he was overthinking it? It was probably just her teasing. Which is much more normal than anything else now. He took his cellphone out and looked at his messages while he waited for her. Also it helps calm him down. So there was a voicemail from his mom, probably to bring home something for dinner.
Finishing the rest of his messages, he looked up upon her announced return. He smiled up at her and put his phone down. He expected her to sit next to him on the couch, but she took a seat on his lap this time. Mimi was being very, very forward today. And for some odd reason... It didn’t bother him. “Mimi, I’m not a kid.” He smirked at her, with a shake of his head.
Figuring she wouldn’t let him say no, he just opened his mouth ready for the sweet snack to enter.

“Hee. Maybe I’ll have to try on some of your clothes. What do you think? I don’t mind being a dress-up doll. Oh!”
They were so close to the lineup now. Mimi hastily dug into her purse and took out some bills. She calculated roughly how much Taichi’s outfit would be and gave him a little over half.
By the time she handed him the money, they were at the front. She hopped off to the open register and paid for her blouse and skirt. She had a brief thought about both of them wearing their new outfits to dinner. But the dress she had back at Taichi’s place was far too tempting. She was trying to suppress a smirk as she waited for Taichi to catch up, imagining what his reaction could be to seeing her dressed up for dinner.
“My clothes?”
Taichi couldn’t help but wonder, sure, she can probably fit in an old jersey, who knows? He doesn’t wear them anymore, obviously. So why not? He couldn’t see why he wouldn’t.
Seeing what was put in his hand, he was about to give it back, but she had rushed into another register. Seems she thought this out because he was now at the register. Putting the clothes down, he paid the rest of the money and took the bag. The girl had told him she hoped he’d come back again, probably not by himself. He jogged up to Mimi and spoke, “Alright, you won that one, Mimi.”

“I don’t like alcohol that much either. It has an unpleasant bitter taste. But once in a while I’ll drink something if it’s sweet enough. Only if I’m out with friends, and never to get drunk.” Mimi smiled, closing her eyes. She was glad he was at least receptive of her efforts.
“You’re welcome.” She shifted her body to face Taichi more, slipping her hand across his chest to wrap around. Her head shifted so it rested against the crook of his neck.
He felt… warm. Warm, solid and comfortable, like this was natural. A smile came to her lips as she thought about this.
“So, what did you do all day today that made you this stressed, Taichi?”
“I’ve never had it. Never will. Bad experience with it, so I stay away from that stuff.” It was all in the past now. His dad doesn’t come home late and drunk anymore. Taichi never knew why he changed his habits, but he was glad.
The drink rested in his hand, which was on his knee, staring at the wall. Deep in his thoughts, not sure how to word it. Maybe he was silly to worry about it. His breathing heavy, but even.
“I guess, is it weird that I worry about Hikari? We were hardly ever apart from each other for too long. And moving into a dorm with Koushiro for college.. She’s a strong girl, but it’s a huge change.”
He didn’t even get to tell his sister about his plans on living on campus.

Mimi’s eyes widened as Taichi sat up while she was still leaning over him, her mouth open slightly. With the way she was leaned over him, with her hand entwined with and underneath his, her chest resting on his stomach, sitting up brought their faces closer. Now they were a hand’s length apart, and Mimi stared into his eyes.
Her neck craned forward, eyelids drooping slightly. Her lips pursed. A quick blow of air was blown from Mimi’s mouth and she giggled as she retreated, slipping off of Taichi and untangling their fingers.
“I’m going to cut that cake you took out. I’ll be a moment.”
Taichi’s own eyes widened at the closeness. This was really, really weird. Sure, Mimi was very pretty. She always had that confidence of her. But never once before did he ever think they’d be like this. Guess he was still hung over Sora before.
Seeing her moving forward, Taichi stared in confusion and he can feel his heart beat a bit faster. He was ready to lean in, before a rush of air was blown at him. Blinking confused, he didn’t give resistance to her slipping off. “Yeah.”
He sat upright, feet hitting the floor and his elbows on his knees. He never thought of Mimi that way before... What changed? Could it be because he got over his previous crush?

storminglove:
The words came as a little bit of a surprise to Sora. All these years she had spent trying to figure out if he felt the same way..Now she knew. Why did love have to be such a complicating emotions? Sure, she loved Yamato but it was a different love. It was a night and day difference mainly because the two boys were so different. Why didn’t he ever tell her this before. “I see..” Sora sighed, looking to the ground now. Should she follow her mind or her heart? “I..I’ve liked you for a long time, Tai. I just never figured you actually felt the same way.” She admitted, her mind chaotic with thoughts. “Why didn’t you ever tell me? I waited on you for so long..” The red head found moisture welling in the corners of her eyes, blurring her vision.
Man, she was crying. He was having real bad luck with this. If only she knew. Maybe if he didn’t wait for the moment, he could have done something about it. But he missed it when she chose Yamato.. What was he to do? “Sora..” She liked him? Yet, why did she choose Yamato?
“I was going to tell you, on Christmas. That’s why I asked you if you wanted to go to Yamato’s concert with me. But you chose him. I didn’t push it.” Taichi wasn’t going to push it if her mind was made up. “You and Yamato are my friends. I wouldn’t stick my foot in it and ruin that if it ruined our friendship.”
Taichi didn’t want to be the reason for their relationship not working, that’s not who he was. “It doesn’t matter anymore, Sora. You chose him and I’m happy for you both.”

Mimi glanced down when she felt his hand over hers. She tucked in her lips, lightly biting down on them as she tried to keep from smirking. It failed, and her teeth scraped along her bottom lip to bite at the corner.
She moved her hand a little, lacing two fingers between his as she leaned forward, forearm and chest resting down on his body, chin hovering over his hand.
“Well then, I guess I’ll just have to make things you’ll be sure to like, won’t I?”
Well, this was definitely a turn of events that Taichi was not expecting to find himself in. She was now even more close than any girl really got to him. It sort of made him a bit nervous, for some reason. He was never nervous around Mimi before.
Not knowing his own actions, he gulped lightly before sitting up slightly. With her still close and on his lap.
“Yeah, I’m sure you will. I’m willing to eat anything edible.”

storminglove:
Upon hearing Taichi’s voice Sora turned and made her way over to the brunette male. Now that he was here this was harder to get out than she had expected but it had to be done. She had to have courage. “It’s about..Well..Taichi, I need to know something. And I want you to be honest with me, okay? How do you feel about me?” The words quickly flew from her lips. Sure, it was blunt but in this case it was required. Skirting around it didn’t do any good.
The words that came out from her mouth, was the exact opposite what he thought would come out. He was absolutely... speechless. Wasn’t she with Yamato? Weren’t they happy? What did his feelings for her matter? And she already predicted that he’d not tell her his true feelings?
“I....” He couldn’t do this? Taichi’s feelings for her shouldn’t be important if she was with Yamato already. He couldn’t look her in the eye when he spoke it. But he spoke, “I don’t know where this came from, but.... I guess... I, like you. As in more than a friend... I just pushed that away because you chose Yamato.” He shrugged, used to pushing that side into the far corners of the Earth.

Mimi shrugged. “I’ll just make you some tea, then.” She led Taichi to the couch, gesturing for him to sit. She walked to the kitchen, digging out the kettle and some tea.
“Daddy usually liked to have one glass of sake after work. So I guess that just came to mind when you said that.” She leaned against the counter as she waited for the tea to finish brewing, pouring a glass and walking back into the living room. She handed Taichi the glass and sat down beside him, hip brushing against his. Mimi tucked her feet underneath her and leaned the rest of her body against Taichi’s, resting her head on his shoulder.
Taichi hated alcohol. Anything with such an evil drink like that, he would never have. What with his dad constantly coming home completely drunk a lot of nights when he was young. Hikari was too young to remember, but Taichi remembered the arguments between his mom and dad.
Taking a seat, he sighed and spoke, “I don’t like that stuff.” Arm placed on the back of the couch, thinking the day over. When she returned, he took the cup and blinked, almost forgotten that he had requested a cuddle. He didn’t think she’d actually go along with it. He took a look at her before taking a drink, the same hand that rested on the back of the couch, bending so his hands ran over his neck. “Thanks Mimi.”

storminglove:
“That sounds a lot like Koushiro. He’s practically glued to his laptop.” Sora laughed a little, her gaze softening. It was true enough that she and Taichi argued more than their share but they always got over it rather quickly. “If..If you aren’t busy I’m still in the park. We could meet up and talk some more. I think it would be a good idea to get a few things out in the open.” The red head was taking a risky chance here but there were some things she did want to clear up that were best said in person and not over the phone.
Taichi didn’t let the arguments bother him, it helped them grow in their friendship. “Nothing would get him off of that thing.” But he’d admit, Koushiro’s unchanged habit of being glued to that laptop helped them out a lot.
Was she there the entire time? “Out in the open? Huh, okay. Sure, I’ll be there in a few, then.” Taichi hung up as soon as they agreed, before putting his sneakers on. His phone and his copy of the apartment key in his pocket. Hurrying on to the park, he walked until he spotted her. “Sora!” He had wondered what was it she wanted to get out? “What did you want to talk to me about?”

“You don’t have to apologize, Tai. I really shouldn’t have snapped the way that I did.” She responded, smiling a little even though she knew he couldn’t see it. A soft sigh left her lips soon after. She did still have feelings for Taichi but seeing as how he had never said anything she had just decided to go with Yamato. She didn’t know how he felt. “I hope you at least were able to have a good time with Koushiro.”
"Well, it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve argued like that. So, I’ll forgive you if you forgive me.” Even if she was taking the blame, which was a first because he always was the one to, unintentionally, cause the fights, he couldn’t let her take it all. “It wasn’t all that great. Koushiro was mostly on his computer.” He can literally sense the smile coming off from the phone.
