human being second, fearne calloway stan first. icon by hugo cardenas
been watching for two years, just now made a blog. i love all the campaigns and all the pcs in 'em. i have severe mental problems and tend to project them onto said pcs. it's a fun hobby!
this blog mostly runs on a queue and scheduled posts asides from thursdays! i may be slow to answering asks.
what haunts me is FCG used Guiding Bolt on themself. that in the event the spell was not enough to detonate the core, FCG ensured the next person has an advantage on their attack roll against him to finish the job.
and the next person in initiative was Imogen, the first person FCG shares a Bonded Blessing with. the very person who pleaded FCG to save them all during the first showdown with Otohan. i think FCG remembered.
there were so many layers to that Guiding Bolt thematically and mechanically. i am SICK.
fell off the callow/moore train for a bit but i think i'm going back on it because of my number one shipping rule: if people who hate the ship become more annoying or unbearable than the most entitled shippers then i start loving it out of spite. and the transphobia towards ashton on twitter just about catapulted me into loving it again but this time ashton get behind me
"He survived the Calamity" "He didn't survive the Calamity" Honestly I think we're sleeping on the idea that if Ludinus himself didn't survive the Calamity, then his parents quite possibly did (elven lifespan, yo).
Which says that he maybe he grew up surrounded by people who remembered the Age of Arcanum (and like, remembered several hundred years of it), ranting on about how much was lost, it's all the Gods' fault, etc etc etc.
Not that I'm trying to give the villain a tragic backstory, he's still an awful person, but... it would make sense. Being surrounded by that kind of vitriol at a young age could certainly create the villain we see now.
So anyway, what we clearly now need is an EXU:Calamity sequel in which the cast falls in love with a precocious little 10-year-old elven child... who maybe makes a couple of concerning comments... but that can be waved off... they're only a child, after all... maybe some bad influences at home...
Only to reveal right at the end that they've been interacting with Ludinus Da'Leth.
I have very fond memories of books where all the characters are little mice, living little mouse lives inside of abandoned houses or in the walls. I always find it cute when they use human stuff like buttons and needles, but are ultimately still just mice and afraid of things like cats and owls and mousetraps.
thoughts about what everyone is like in mouse world:
Ashton is very used to humans and has always lived near them, taking food and things when he can get them. He's very aware of how dangerous they can be though. They can probably get mistaken for a rat due to their size and they have a lot of healed up scars, so others find them intimidating. His tail is bandaged with electrical tape and his "earrings" are just staples.
FCG and FRIDA are both escaped lab mice. Until they meet neither of them had ever met another white mouse. FCG was hand raised by a human but got released. He lost an arm to a trap because he didn't yet know humans can be dangerous to mice. They probably still aren't actually frightened of humans.
Laudna is a fancy former pet mouse (with tuxedo markings that look a bit like a skull) who was also released by an irresponsible owner and had some hard times because of it.
Fearne and Orym are both field mice, who haven't had much contact with actual humans. Fearne loves their things though and always wants to collect things from them. Orym probably misses the wild, but what he likes about humans is their gardens. :)
Critical Role Via TikTok: “The Crown Keepers are back Thursday next week as @/Robbie Daymond and @/Aabria Iyengar prep behind the scenes of #criticalrole!🎲✨”
What is a popular ship you just can't get behind, and why?
well if i gave a list for rarepairs might as well give a list of ships i don't like lmao: laud/moore, ash/rym, vex/leth, wid/ojest, shado/wgast. also ig i don't like the idea of marion and the gentleman getting back together
What does everyone else get wrong about your favorite character?
kinda gestures at orym in general. i think a lot of people only use him to talk about how the bad guys suck and act like he's only defined by his trauma
Which character is not as morally bad as everyone else seems to think?
waudna
What is your biggest unpopular opinion about the series?
that you shouldn't skip the first 27 episodes of the first campaign. seriously. you can just put it in 1.25 speed if certain players piss you off to get through it faster
If you had to remove one major character from the series, who would you choose?
delilah briarwood, i am sick and tired of this bitch forcing herself into relevance in the story. make laudna's patron vecna or asmodeus at this point i don't care
