Post NAIC Blog

6/18/25
HOWDY FOLKS! It's yapping hour (: so buckle down cause it's yap time.
So I had the opportunity to go NAIC for my first time ever this year. I went with a group of friends and it was about a 5.5 hour drive for us. Originally I was going as a spectator since I had missed the registration window, but about 4 weeks before the tournament RK9 opened some extra slots and my friend was like "wouldn't it be funny if you got in queue and competed with us?" and I went yeah sure; anyway I got through the queue aaaaand I competed haha. I would consider myself an average TCG player. I place top 10 or somewhere in the middle when it comes to local leagues but I am not a cracked player so I had an idea of mmm def not making day 2 but maybe I'll have fun anyway. Damn did I have fun with my friends.

TBH I dropped after round 4 with a record of 0-4-0…. Riddle me this batman, what are the odds of me playing three Raging Bolts in a row???? THREE??? MY WORST MATCH UP??? AHHHHHHHHH. It's chill - by round 4 my blood sugar was crashing and my service dog was like, yo you gotta eat man, so I dropped. I think if had I had a better early run I might've stuck it out and had a friend run me lunch but with a 0-4 match score, my friends and I got lunch then went all in on side events (: WHICH PAID OFF! I got a booster of Twilight Masquerade and she got a booster of Destined Rivals from the prize wall by the final day.
It was super busy and really pushed my physical limits but I had a lot of fun. PlayLabs was great, I managed to get into the Pokemon Center, Pokemon had a pin trading event which apparently is the first time they have ever done that! I will say as a competitor it was a little hard trying to get to some things with the weird hours that things are open on day one is a little hard, but that's ok. We really were trying to hit everything lol. I actually really enjoyed walking everywhere even if I had to several breaks haha (my poor kneeeeeeees). The trade hall was really cool but again the hours it was open was kind of rough, but they had to have staff monitoring it so I get it. All in all I'm gonna try and go again next year. By then I think I'll also have improved as a competitive player as well (and the next rotation is going to murder my deck anyway…. wahhhhhhhhhhh)!!!! I'm so glad that TCG has brought as my joy back into my life as it has. It's been such a joy to play and finally make friends again as an adult and like, have something to do that I enjoy. Anyway I love yall. BYE!

Adventures in Screen Printing
04/19/25
FOLKS 👏
I'm actually gonna start blogging again. Today I saw a balloon /ref - no but really today I started printing the "Kill em with Kindness" shirts and it went really well!
Took a while to get into the flow of things like getting the pressure right and getting the amount of ink correct, but once it was going it was GOING. Didn't finish all of the shirts I had to do. Wasn't the goal to finish all of them but I did bring all 30 shirts in case I did get the energy to do them all. Probably gonna go pick up some more small shirts since those were the ones I did first. Kind of blew through the halftone pattern with too much ink on the screen but it is a bit of a learning process. Printing on fabric is much different than I expected it to be than paper. Obviously it would be different, however I wasn't expecting that big of a difference. Silly me.
Anyway, after printing each shirt they have to be heat set. Since I'm DIY-ing these and I don't have a flash dryer, I used a hair dryer? Should work fiiiiiine-ish. I didn't want to buy a heat gun since I technically own one but can't seem to find it right now. I swear I'll find the damn thing in a day or two lol. I'm gonna let the shirts sit a few days and hit them again when I do find my heat gun, then give them the wash test (I am DREADING the wash test).
Hopefully all the shirts come out fine! I've got a few more to go. Depending on how my order goes to replace some other merch I may invest in a few more shirts. Currently the size range I plan on carrying is S-XL which I know isn't the most inclusive sizing, but it's the best I can do right now. I really do enjoy making these shirts myself. One day I'll have them made by a local company I've looked into but it's SUPER expensive and again I really do enjoy doing it myself. I'll follow up in a few weeks when I work on the "dumbest puppy at the library" bags!! I've got company coming over this next weekend so probably won't get to them till the first week of May (: Enjoy this image of a bunch of shirts draped over a toy truck. Shout out to my sister for letting me take over her garage every weekend ✌️

Yeah, I guess I do. But like, what even is a star beam, you know? Now, a lead pipe to the shins? That's just reliable, baby.
