'You look ravishing, love.'
A quick kiss to her forehead caused her left brow to quirk upwards, and a smile to settle at her lips. "You're certainly a sight for sore eyes," she greeted him warmly, keeping her gaze steady with James' when she could meet his own. It had been some short while since the pair had seen one another last, and the thrum of energy building in her chest leaped. From her experience with dated, this was not a normal feeling for her to indulger or encounter; though in the center of her chest, it felt right. Athena had yet to feel such an electricity since Ashley and one other woman. It had been years. Anyone with the ability to reel her in the way James had, had to be someone worthwhile. He, this, was different. She enjoyed it.
Busy with a work schedule that hardly left for room to breathe, the time to set an official date had been fairly troublesome. Athena had been grateful for James' invitation for the evening, when the two of them could spare a moment with each other. From what she could tell of via Facebook, her companion had sported a hectic routine himself lately; from a trip to Hawaii to several outings. She appreciated the time spent with him.
"Ah, well," Athena spoke with an equally playful tone, "traffic certainly had a hand to play in my punctuality." She stepped inside of his familiar apartment; remembering briefly the first time she had visited. The night she had walked out on a limb to help a stranger, and come out of it with something quite a bit more. She was no longer scared of him, and that she considered progress.
Tumblr media
'You know, for someone who took an entire evening to figure out whether she wanted to go out with me or not, you sounded pretty eager on the phone about tonight.' A short peel of laughter bubbled over her painted lips, coy in the shrugging of her shoulders. “What can I say, hm? Spending time with you certainly is an adventure, if our history is any evidence. And, you know, you're only a little decent of company to keep,” she spoke, offering him a wink where she stood; enjoying the feel of their banter once again. His hand brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, and she thanked him, before glancing about the apartment. "Something smells delicious. I can't wait to see what it is the gourmet chef of the evening prepared,” she commented, lighthearted interest hanging from her lips.
Something of Value || James & Athena
Come over tonight. We'll drink, have a wonderful gourmet dinner. I happen to be a great cook, so you won't regret it, I promise.
James was no stranger to this kind of encounters with women. All throught out his life, he had experienced everything the gamut of what the female gender had to offer and had taken some of them to simple dates as the one he was about to have. He had always liked their company while having dinner, dancing soft ballads with them or simply talking to them and, more than anything else, conquering them. So far, he’d only had a few serious relationships with the few people that managed to cause an impact on him. So, mostly, his love life was about the pursuit, the conquest, having fun and making sure his dates enjoyed themselves, as well. Of course that there had been an exeption or two- Beth, for example, who completely changed everything he thought he knew about love- but what he didn’t plan was actually finding someone capable of diving him into the old practise of dating again after so long. Anyone capable of provoking such desire in him to give this a try after failing countless times was someone worth his time without doubt, James theorized.
Yes, James was no stranger to this kind of encounters and yet, he couldn’t ignore the shiver of anxiety running down his spine at the mere thought of having a simple date at home with her. Athena Cross. However, unlike many others dates he had, he had been musing over their encounter for weeks, even in his little trip to Hawaii. Even now, as he poured wine in a small saucepan to prepare red wine sauce for their dinner plate. She had something that many other people lacked of, she had a real fire inside of her, she had goals to reach and many unspoken stories hiding behind chocolate brown eyes, she had a veil of sophistication draped over her that his fingers just itched to snatch away. And even in his eyes, that had seen models and actresses pouring out of every doorway in diverse cities, she was just stunning. Then there was the silk of her voice, her witty and intelligent conversation and that edge of playing hard to get that was irresistible. She was a challenge he was willing to accept, contrary to the advice of many and his own better instinct. But there was an energy and a spark between them, that told him without a doubt they would have fun tonight.
Eight o’clock, just as they had planned and dinner was almost ready to James’ surprise. While cooking was an art he had yet to tame, he had managed to carefully follow a recipe and prepare a decent-looking pepper-crusted filet mignon that could easily pass as food. He hadn’t even started with the dessert yet when he heard the knocking on his door, immediately shooting cerulean gaze to the source of the noise. At the first string of words from a voice he knew too well, James reached to grab nearest kitchen-towel to clean up his hands and immediately headed towards the door. When he opened, revealing her at last, he didn’t restrain the smile that lifted at the corners of his lips. “You look ravishing, love” He breathed out, his British accent toying with the words cascading from his mouth before he leaned the slightest to place a quick peck on her forehead as a greeting.
Tumblr media
"Come on in" He offered, stepping out of the doorway, so Athena could enter the flat. "Took you long enough" He said, obviously kidding as the smile playing on his lips gave him away. The artist took a moment to let his gaze linger at the way her clothing suited her figure before ranking up to meet her gaze. "Kidding" His back closed the door softly and, while biting his bottom lip, James strode confidently towards her before breaking his expression with a smile. "You know, for someone who took an entire evening to figure out whether she wanted to go out with me or not, you sounded pretty eager on the phone about tonight" He teased, referring about the last call they had before agreeing to meet her that evening, as he raised his free hand to her eye-level before allowing his fingertips to brush a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

Something of Value || James & Athena
A relaxed, thrilled energy had settled over Athena; an unusual state for her to slip into where first dates were concerned, though with her date tonight being someone of value, how could she feel anything less? Bright and neutral colors engulfed her vision, eyes trained on the wide open closet within her room, displaying several outfits on hangers; she figured it best to be casual with a hint of class, as a woman should always appear well put together with minimal effort. Athena's thoughtful gaze settled upon a nice choice, her first; light grey skinny jeans, a seamed white tunic, and a black double breasted tuxedo blazer, tipped off with black ankle boots and silver jewelry accents.
Athena dressed with a careful quickness, shooting her gaze to the clock every few minutes to gauge her time ratio; hair now styled in waves falling passed her shoulders and make-up pristine in palette. A final once over, and a second final once over, followed by a third final once over proved her ready to leave. A spritz of perfume had been her last touch. With a confident smile, she turned to gather her purse and offer a kiss in Prometheus' direction, exiting the apartment with now one thought on her mind -
James Davenport.
Her face broke into a smirk whilst she drove, fingers tapping atop the wheel of her car, russet eyes darting the roads. Athena's thoughts took her back to her tall companion, the wickedness of his smile and the kindness of his soul; a mystery she had challenged herself to solve. Just enjoy yourself, hm, her thoughts whispered, raised to be heard amidst the chaotic blend, have fun. This is only a date, "And don't forget to smile,” she  calmly instructed herself aloud, knowing her small fault could harshen her edged. Athena continued to give herself small instructions whilst she parked; and eyes searching for his door number once inside, anchoring herself to the moment.
"Here we go,” she spoke gently to herself, tone hushed; knuckles rapping the wood with James' numbers adorning it. A quiet date inside had been a wonderful idea, the chance for greater comfort and sharable intimacy a more appealing idea. A loud restaurant did nothing for her. “Open up," she smirked, "it's the police."

It seems neither Derek or Athena have been added to the lists of those staying in IRP, though I have stated previously they will be. So, take note - they are both staying. Thanks.

I can’t even begin to say how disappointed I am in I-roleplay’s closing. For the last 10 months, it’s been my role playing home; and a wonderful place for me to house Derek and Athena and Maverick and Grace. I’d love to thank both Taylor and Rika for their hard work and dedication for as long as...

The dim light of a cell phone swept the floor and crawled upwards at her frame, settling briefly at her face. Athena's russet gaze adjusted to the bright attention quickly, though the brief shine blinded her to the approaching stranger's own features. She had seen enough of him as he'd approached, however, to pick out enough surface information; her companion didn't appear to be outright sinister, though it was always best to be wary. He spoke, deep voice cutting through the room's silence, in a tone that quite matched what she had seen. 'I’ve volunteered at the museum twice before, but no, I don’t work here. I’ve also been stranded here, got a little distracted.' She offered him careful smile, flickering her gaze between his frame and the stairs; if only to gauge the distance. "At least one of us has some basic know-how, hm. Couldn't stay away from personalizing the experience, either?"
Athena's eyes continued to follow him from where she stood, attempting to relax both her posture and her mind. Her paranoia really could get out of hand, if she fed it too much. He did not look unkind, and should his intentions have been violent or impure, she supposed he would not have wasted time with polite niceties. Granted, she had only been in his presence for at least a minute; though she trusted her gut and its providing first instinct. With the brandishing of her cell phone, she deemed her amicable companion safe; muscles relaxing a fraction. No Service read clear atop the screen, and she cursed quietly. "No service; but the connection could only be faulty in this area," she piped up, eyes drifting to the ceiling prior to falling back on him. "It might be better on the upper floor or outside. I had a decent bar in the kitchen."
Her feet lead her forward several steps to the entrance of the cellar where she peered inside, arms returning to fold tightly across her chest beneath her breasts. Athena leaned her shoulder and hip against the outer frame lightly, listening intently when being spoken to. The taller gentleman reappeared a moment to do so. At his light teasing, she rolled her eyes and bore a playing look of her own. She shrugged. "You've caught me red handed, Sir. I like my victims feeble and elderly," the brunette joked guardedly, though allowing her grin to widen a moment. He was far from 'old', and even further from 'feeble'. It frightened her to be stuck in the middle of nowhere, with a stranger no less. She supposed they might at least make the best of a bad situation. "Well, this is an older building," her head tilted back, snapping to take in the room behind her to eye the front door. "I'm not sure if they've remodeled the circuitry here. I might guess the breaker would be outside. It might be just our luck if it was," her tone dripped with sarcasm.
A ʙᴇᴀᴄᴏɴ ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ ᴅᴀʀᴋᴇsᴛ ɴɪɢʜᴛ ☠ Aᴛʜᴇɴᴀ & Rᴏʙᴇʀᴛ
Cold eyes snapped towards the voice as it broke thru the darkness. Squinting slightly, Robert shined the phone light towards her, taking in the tall thin brunette as she spoke. His lips thinned as he realized they were both stranded at the garish old lighthouse, the two of them completely alone nearly a mile away from shore – and several miles away from any sort of civilization considering the nearest shore line was a part of a state park. The killer sent a silent prayer, desperately hoping his fellow castaway wasn’t the type to set off his darker needs—he certainly wouldn’t be able to get away with it should anyone notice the two of them missing upon their arrival back at the museum. Robert sighed again, smiling politely at the stranger, “I’ve volunteered at the museum twice before, but no, I don’t work here.” He shifted his phone, shining the light onto the walls around them. “I’ve also been stranded here, got a little distracted.”
Robert stilled his movements as his phone light illuminated the cellar entrance; he cocked his head for a moment before turning his attention back to the younger woman for a brief moment. “Do you have any service out here by any chance? I’ve got a bar that can’t seem to make up its mind about being there or not.” Robert grinned at her before turning to look back at the cellar. The circuit breaker had to be somewhere around here, and he’d really rather save his phone’s battery to help pass the time until someone came than to use it as a flashlight. “We could call the museum and see if they can send someone back to pick us up before they close up for the night.”
The cellar was only a few steps away, not too far that would require that he yell to converse with the woman but Robert still felt it would be polite to be in her presence when addressing her, he turned around to face her as he reached the archway between the two rooms, a grin spread to his face as he grabbed onto wall. “Not that I wouldn’t want to spend a night with a woman as lovely as you but,” Robert paused, shrugging as his teeth shone. “For all I know you could be some sadistic serial killer who preys on lonely old men like me. Didn’t set this up now, did you?” The man’s grin grew as he ducked into the room, searching the walls for that damned circuit breaker. The killer sent another prayer, hoping the damn thing wasn’t located outside, but he always did have nasty luck with these sort of things. “Have you seen the circuit breaker by any chance?”
