I love that folks are being more accepting of autism, but I don't love that autism is being sanitized into a quirk.

There's a cute and acceptable form of autism on social media, and I don't see any indication that folks are remotely ready for discussing the rest of it, which contains all the uncomfortable things that impede a person's everyday life, require support, and make acceptance almost impossible—where the hygiene struggles, inappropriate social behaviors, involuntary movements and outbursts, meltdowns, and emotional dependence issues live. And the cuter and more sanitized the "good" autism gets, the more unacceptable the "bad" autism becomes.

i hate to make this post but im not rly sure how to breach this topic since it came on so suddenly and out of my control, but due to unforseen circumstances theres a large chance im going to have to euthanize my remaining girl salem . over the course of the last few days she has developed a mammary tumor under her arm [common in female rats, especially at her age of almost 4 years] and after having her looked at, surgery in this case would stress her enough into death, and its not preventative either [meaning it would eventually grow back, regardless] .

id rather she go out earlier before the tumor grows to the size of limiting mobility in her arm . can provide pictures of said tumor at request especially if you help out, i just dont want to limit the amount of rb's this could get if people dont want to share photos like that to their blog . im really choked up about it but id need about $150 for the vet visit & euthanization if anyone could spare even a bit . id take on commissions atm but im currently working through what ive already got & used a remainder of my money for groceries for this month . any little bit helps im not really sure how im gonna fare when shes gone but i need to get it done sooner rather then later . she lived a long 3 1/2 years and im more then happy about that .
