My take about percabeth is that yes it is "girl with abandonment issues"/"boy with loyalty as a fatal flaw" but I also think it's "boy that has never thought of anything for himself"/"girl who is ready with a powerpoint presentation of their future together"
Like, percy does not have any ambition. One of the first things he says about himself in tlt is that his life is "short and miserable". He has very low self steem and view of himself, and even though he has his mom, and friends, is not until he falls in love with annabeth that he gets an idea of what a future for himself would look like. The only times he imagines it is when thinking of annabeth. When rejecting inmortality, when in new rome and in the lete, when annabeth asks him what he wants to study. In tartarus, imagining marrying her and having children.
It might sound far fetched, but for most of the books he seems to be living his life as if just trying to survive day to day. He doesn't mind dying for the prophecy very much. Is only her voice that brings him out of the styx. Is only her that makes him want to look beyond what he is and makes him think of what he could be.

ive been seeing jokes on pjotok about rick fistfighting theyna shippers on sight in the streets and I dont get it 😭😭😭 can you explain ?? does rick hate theyna shippers or something omg help
This is a joke based on some lines in Tyrant's Tomb, where Rick basically turns straight to the audience and has Reyna vocally disapprove of being shipped with Thalia (and others) + a lot of overt notes of the Huntresses not dating each other (which was established earlier in TOA in Dark Prophecy as well, where it was clarified that the Huntresses swear off all forms of romance, not just relationships with men).
A lot of people took this as Rick vocally disapproving of Theyna specifically. It's part of an ongoing trend of Rick awkwardly very directly addressing fandom discourse, particularly disproving ships or headcanons, in the text for no good reason. Usually functionally breaking the fourth wall to do so or otherwise shoehorn in commentary where it doesn't need to be. Another recent example is Rick finding excuses to specify in-text that Percy is straight, when prior on Twitter he's stated that he's fully in support of Death of the Author, and "anything he states outside the books or his intentions don't matter if you can support it from the text."

i have this headcanon that percy and rachel reconnect after his first year at new rome. he visits camp half-blood and runs into her. they talk for a few minutes and agree to see a movie together as friends. and within a week. they're back to finding comfort in each other's presence. having inside jokes. and bi-weekly painting sessions. and late might conversations about their hopes and dreams for the future. just a really healthy friendship that they've needed since they were fifteen.

how can sadie kane be a sassy flip-phone user while also being on a 9 to 5 on tiktok? the kane chronicles are all just happening in a weird timeless way where julian does use a bulky landline from the 90s but also he's into retro tech and uses arch linux and hates online data harvesting. yeah shelby is into early 2000s cartoons and it's not "nostalgic" it's just reality and yeah walt still does bottleflips and films it on vine. what about it

Why Jason Grace stands out to me so much is because of his adherence to rules. He’s the only one whose fatal flaw is discipline and reluctance.
Sure, Percy’s is loyalty and that’s great and all. Annabeth has hubris. A lot of the other Heroes of Olympus characters just have inferiority issues. But all of them had a rebellious streak prior to the books.
Jason is normal for our society. But abnormal in PJO terms.
His presence is reassuring, he reminds you that borderline ‘neurotypical’ people are still half-bloods, are still neurodivergent. He was raised to be a ‘goody two shoes’, which is (personally) a nod to gifted kids in today’s world. He’s different from Annabeth because he had actual expectations put on him, expectations he didn’t know how to break.
He isn’t impulsive like Percy. Rather, the opposite. He didn’t become the leader he is because of acts of defiance. He’s built himself this reputation off of genuine hard work and pressure, which only comes crumbling down when this pressure is gone, when he’s comfortable with his company.
This is why his death hit me so hard. Because only when he’s finally escaping from this societal expectation on him does he fall. It parallels how gifted kids burn out over time and are seen as wastes of intelligence. How disciplined kids grow up and are expected to do great things, to stay that way, which ultimately leads to their downfall.
He dies because he was normal in a not-so-normal reality.
Rick Riordan really made a character for everybody and this is why I love his books so much.

Seeing as how the Big Beautiful Bill just passed, here's are some websites that offer discounts on medications:
- GoodRx
- SingleCare
- Pharmacy Checker
- WellRx - this one compares prices across different pharmacies
- Cost Plus - thanks to @thedamnqueenofhell for suggesting!
-NeedyMeds - a nonprofit that helps pay for prescriptions. Thank you to @allitdoesispause for the suggestion! They also suggested checking the manufacturers website for a paitent assistance program, which can give you a coupon for free or cheaper meds.
-Ask for a discount card - thank you to @cccshutdown for the reminder!
Stay safe, everyone. Things are about to get much, much worse in the US.
EDIT: if you're worried about doctor/therapy appointments, see if there's a sliding scale clinic near you (and ask your therapist if they offer sliding scale prices)

im so much more interested in a hoo that lets Percy keep the status and power he'd left off with in the Last Olympian and explores how he grapples with that instead of immediately forcing him back into the role of the underdog at the expanse of his prior development. Let the fact that he alone has the title the "Savior of Olympus" mean something. Let the fact that he is the sole survivor of the great prophecy mean something. Let the Curse of Achilles mean something. Let us see how it's a curse and how it could warp his sense of self. Let Percy be on a completely different playing field than the rest of the seven (or even the other children of the big three at this point) and show us how it alienates him.
