07.13: everything goes right
@anidalaweeks day 1 prompt where Anakin and Padmé get to raise the twins and be happy.... my dream would be to draw a whole comig about this what-if. i didn't have time, so i did a piece that compiles all best memories from our favorite space romeo and juliet!! in my head, in this AU, Anakin leaves the Jedi Order after killing Palpatine and Padmé continues to fight for freedom across the galaxy. Anakin ends up working as a pilot and ativist (and a stay at home dad to). he loves his family dearly, no one tell him Leia will end up dating Han later on.

I genuinely don't understand those padme girlboss truthers, especially when they say she didn't really love anakin or that he mind controlled her. Like... where is that coming from? There's no mind trick. No manipulation. No force coercion. That's not how their relationship was. She wasn't some naive puppet falling for the first hot jedi that complimented her hair. Padme was one of the sharpest, most politically astute people in the galaxy. If anything, she was surrounded by manipulators every day in the senate, she knew how to spot manipulators and controlling people.
She didn't fall for his power or his title. She fell for the one person who saw her as padme, not a senator, not a queen, not a symbol. Their love was tragic, secretive, and doomed but it was hers. It was real she got to be selfish for once. To act like she couldn't have genuinely loved him unless she was being “controlled” erases her agency entirely. Isn't it more feminist to let her be complex? To acknowledge that a powerful woman can still want love, and intimacy without it invalidating her strength?
Padme wasn't a flawless girlboss icon. She was a fully realized character brave, compassionate and human. Let her be that.
Anakin loves padme and padme loves anakin.
Sorry about the grammar mistakes I was typing too fast 😓

padme amidala could have dragged her high-off-the-Dark-Side garbage-fire mess of a husband back to the Light by her own damn self if obi-wan drama queen kenobi hadn’t decided to strut out and pose in the middle of the ship ramp like the infamous sith-killing jedi master he was for five more fucking minutes and that’s the tea

padme talking about her accomplishments as a senator with anakin and anakin complimenting her for it AS ANY OTHER SPOUSE WOULD
...
this fic is becoming a cover for all my grievances about poor anidala characterisation I think

Padmé Amidala always carried within her a deep desire for a life of peace, love, and family a quiet dream that stood in stark contrast to the turmoil of the galaxy around her. Despite her responsibilities as queen of naboo and later as a senator, she often longed for a future far removed from politics and war. That longing became more real the day she fell in love with Anakin Skywalker.
Their love was passionate and dangerous, unfolding in the shadows of war and duty. From the moment they reunited on naboo, the connection between them was undeniable. Anakin, bold and brave, saw in Padmé the strength and kindness he had always admired. Padmé, equally brave and compassionate, saw in Anakin not just the jedi hero, but the vulnerable boy beneath the armor, a soul capable of great love and deep pain.
Their love was forbidden, hidden away from the galaxy, but it was also intensely real. In each other, they found the only piece of peace they had ever truly known. Amidst the chaos, they created a small world for themselves moments of stolen time, laughter, and quiet hopes whispered in the dark. For Padmé, the thought of building a family with Anakin gave her hope for a better future. She dreamed of raising their children somewhere safe, where war was only a distant memory.
When she became pregnant, it was the happiest moment of her life. But war still raged, and Anakin was slipping further into the dark side, consumed by fear and the need to protect her at all costs. Padmé held on to her dream even as the world around her crumbled. She believed in the goodness that still existed in Anakin, in the love they had shared, and in the children they had created together.
In the end, it was that very love that became both their salvation and their undoing. Though tragedy tore them apart, the depth of their bond lived on through their children, Luke and Leia symbols of the love Padmé always believed in, and the family she always wanted.
Padmé and Anakin's story is a reminder that even in the darkest times, love can burn brightly. And even when dreams are lost, their echoes can light the way for generations to come.
