Classifying information helps us a lot when we are dealing with an abundant amount of information. When we classify information into a systemized form, it becomes organized and easy to locate. This saves us a lot of time when we need certain information that must be accessed as quickly as possible. There are numerous ways we can classify information.
Information can be classified based on type, provider, and source. The types of information are scholarly, professional, entertainment and opinion. Scholarly and professional types of information are important because they are used in the studies and practices being done in institutions as well as work and trade. In contrast, the entertainment and opinion type of information can be used to inform the people with what is popular and trending, including the opinions that people have on them. This information is provided by academic institutions, government agencies, private sector and private individuals. These information providers aim to collect and distribute information that best fits their purpose. These providers collect information through various sources. This includes the primary, secondary and tertiary source.
Once extracted from a reliable source, the information is categorized and distributed systematically so that it is easily accessible and within reach. Researchers could also use the information gathered by providers and effectively formulate their studies. People may use the information freely but must avoid plagiarism. Classified information are efficient in time and effectiveness to all users of information.

Freedom :P
Tumblr media
Secrets here and there. Deceived by the people in power whose sole purpose is to protect and serve. “Dundundun”. We have always been given the right to share or to voice out our opinions. In what basis does it serve to be illegal? Or undermine the citizens to hinder our intentions to share and gain information? In the past years, there were a lot of cases leading to journalists getting paid to not share these types of information out to the public and even be killed due to uncertain reasons. Why is that? To what extent does freedom of press and journalism affect our society?
The United Nations’ 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights states: “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media regardless of frontiers.” Freedom of the press is the right for authors to publish their work without outside forces, such as the government or religious organizations, interfere. It is journalism without constraints which is what journalism should truly be. It functions as the news-bringer in the lives of the people.
The news is that part of communication that keeps us informed of the changing events, issues, and characters in the world outside. Though it may be interesting or even entertaining, the foremost value of news is as a utility to empower the informed. The purpose of journalism is thus to provide citizens with the information they need to make the best possible decisions about their lives and society. Despite being beneficial to society, it could also act as the reason why the system of the government could collapse.
Tumblr media
In recent years, the government has been prone to corruption and journalists use their right of freedom of expression to shine the light on the greedy ways of corrupt politicians. However, it is not that simple. These corrupt government officials do what they can to remain undetected and so reach extremities to cover themselves up which could even lead to the murder of journalists. Moreover, journalism without regulation could also lead to unreliability. The information cannot be trusted due to manipulation and bias. Kellyanne Conway coined the term “alternative facts” which refer to the fake news that journalists publish to destroy one’s image or career. This is also known as libel which is a published false statement that is damaging to a person's reputation; a written defamation.
In conclusion, the freedom of press is extremely important in today’s society because it allows journalism to function as a news outlet and empowers people to become informed with the world around them. However, freedom of press comes with libel, or the publication of false information to defame a person, and violent acts against journalists who publish information that people work hard to hide. Due to this, there are reasons as to why freedom of press is still feared and is pushed to be illegalized but it is one of the principles of journalism that keeps a society in check and empowered. The power is in the hands of the people who have the right to have their own opinions.

Think before you click
My Third Quarter Periodic Test
Tumblr media
We are all slaves to the Internet, submitting to our desires of communicating online, reading, stalking, posting and etc. The place where everything becomes a part of your life with a click. Post a picture, voice out your opinion, sharing valuable/invaluable data and other Millennial things, this is just a normal day for an average person. This place affects and infects people with information that some may not be even true or reliable yet it spreads like wildfire or better yet like an epidemic.
One prominent figure in the Philippines is our very own President Duterte himself, he is very prone to using profane language that some may find not proper for his image. Though he does not use social media for his personal use, his image has already been famously known for his indecency that circulates the internet which results in people to spread fake news or exaggerate information to ruin people’s prospect view on him. This may seem simple, however injecting gossips or rumors without a solid base can make people do unnecessary actions which will cause a chain of damaging effects to our country.
When we exercise our freedom of speech, we no longer do it in a humane manner but outside our proper behavior that trespasses certain laws that could include cyberbullying or harassment. Jose Rizal famously said “A pen is mightier than a sword” we take up our words to fight for what? self-interests? to cause someone harm? This right is no longer “right.” We should be mindful of our actions before we publish it publicly.
Social media is a tool for communication, not destruction. We have indeed misused its purpose to an extent of self-harm and harm to the community. Be cautious of your actions online, do not make a decision that seeks to destroy. Spread information not to hate, discriminate and intimidate.

Tumblr media
Twitter is a social media platform popularly used to convey feelings, opinions, facts and other intentions. It is to be in fact the self-customized newspaper or magazine that suits your interests. You can follow who you like, and block out blood boiling people. Write a message to advocate, to share your feelings, to voice out your opinion about this topic, share(retweet) a poem, share someone else’s tweet(message) and many more. This is better than the New York Times, Time, New Yorker, Economist, FT, WSJ, Newsweek, and any newspaper or magazine.
Tumblr media
Life is all about gathering and sharing information in short, the “tea.” The saying “spill the tea” means “tell me what happened” or “gossip time.” We all need our daily dose of news, whether it's about politics, celebrities or sports it is up to you. Many teenagers and Millenials of this age use this to regularly, likewise I too use it to share what I feel or state facts, opinions or my side about this topic and so on.  If you don't know how to tweet or what to tweet, you can just follow some people and read their tweets.
Tumblr media
Twitter is a good service to communicate with friends. Differ from Email or Facebook or IM, you don't have to reply people's tweet instantly, you don't have to follow who following you, you just follow those who you think are funny or valuable. That’s why I mostly retweet tweets from others whom I think are funny or has something to say that is educational. I also mention people to call out, reply, or debate over a certain topic. Twitter in general for me is a newspaper and debate app for all ages.
