His eyes struggled to adjust to his new surroundings.

Then a bright, colourful and cheerful environment immediately dissolved away into a vacant and dull set where few furniture items sat cramped.

Despite the erratic movement of strangers and the echo of dated technology, he didn’t move an inch; body immobile in a state of what would of been either shock or bewilderment. Hand still grasping the doorknob; the cold, still air finally managed to overcome his senses.

Once where baggy and well warn clothing draped his entire body, now replaced with a tightness that made even breathing difficult. He felt exposed, skinned like an animal ready for feast. He would of attempted to cover himself in a frantic display of shame if his hand would let go of the doorknob.

Why isn’t he letting go of the door knob.

Why isn’t he moving.

Why is the air in here so thick. Why is the light so bright. Why are those people so strange. Why do they look like him. Why are they shocked to see him here. Why did they flee. Why is this so familiar. Why does it feel like he’s been here. Why is he naked. Why is there a duck. Why isn’t his body moving.

Why can he feel breath hit the nape of his neck.

Why didn’t he notice the scraping. The buzz of machinery. The heavy, laboured steps. The dragging of steel on steel. The smell of rusted metal. The faint glow of artificial light. The sound of breathing in his ear. The tongue now dragging over his collarbone. The feeling of teeth sinking into flesh. The pressure on his windpipe.

The taste of rusted metal.

Why isn’t he moving.
