The real thing with ADHD is not "I forgot", but that forgetting is this ongoing process. I remembered! And then I forgot.

At ten this (hypothetical) morning I remembered that I have a meeting at six. And then from 11 through 3 I worked on other stuff and had zero thoughts about that meeting. Maybe even thought about what I was gonna do with my evening at home. Got attached to the idea of taking the time to make a good dinner, maybe play some video games.

And then at three I said, "Oh! Fuck!" and remembered again, hopefully long enough to set an alarm. And then I went to the bathroom and remembered that I need to clean the counter and spent twenty minutes cleaning the bathroom and went to get a snack and then at five I said, "OH! FUCK!" and had to scramble to dress like a real adult and get out the door.

It isn't one clean forgetting. It's a constant process of forgetting and then, with an exhausting adrenaline spike, remembering. And then forgetting. Baby, I can forget the same thing more times in a day than you ever forgot your parents' anniversary.

I dunno man. I found out today that a subway sandwich is $14 now. A shitty subway footlong sandwich that isn't actually 12 inches long and is occasionally made with expired ingredients and was never a great option to start with. I ate those in high school because I was broke and at the mall a lot.

There are poke bowls in my city from a local place for $16. Super fresh fish and veg, warm rice, more than I can eat in one sitting, for the price of a sandwich and a drink at america's most mid-tier sandwich shop.

Someone in another post said (paraphrased) you used to be able to get something mediocre for cheap, but now the mediocre things cost as much as the nice things so why would you?

I hope I am wrong about covid. I desperately would love to be proven wrong.

But every single piece of evidence including my own lived experience of getting covid and still being sick 3 years later (it’s my anniversary ✨) and thousands of published scientific studies has demonstrated that this virus is not harmless and even if it doesn’t kill you that doesn’t mean there isn’t going to be lasting damage from cumulative infections

I think people hear this and fall into either nihilism (it’s inevitable, might as well go out and party before the apocalypse) or complete denial (it will only happen to people who are already disabled who i unconsciously as acceptable sacrifices for not making any adjustments to my life). Neither are appropriate responses m.

Making the air safer through ventilation and filtration and masking with proper respirators are two significant ways to reduce transmission that are achievable. You don’t have to give up and fall into denial or apathy. You can take individual actions to make a small difference.

If you’ve given up for whatever reason you can always start again. I understand the social pressure to continue on as normal is crushing. But many of us are physically unable to pretend to to back to normal because we are too sick. If you talk about resisting, here you go. Resist right wing misinformation, science denial. Care about covid- at least a little bit
