She looks so beautifully enraged. Cthulhu's sassy daughter.

sometimes you have to mutilate a plastic knockoff bjd and a finger puppet and i think that’s beautiful

Unboxing up! In which I try to show off Qingqiu for the curious and hope I'm saying her name right.
(Her default name, anyway. She's being renamed Vixen.)

My delight as I went 'viera!' and 'hey, I recognize that hair style!'

Finally finished this wig after eons. (Mainly because I kept jumping around different projects) Not sure if I absolutely love it, but it was a very good first attempt at this kind of wig. I've never made a "natural hairline look" before. I'll likely remake it a different way at some point, because i'm having trouble with a lot of loose hairs. Also note to self, paint the hard cap either blue or black! I had to put a lot of extra hair to cover up the hard cap (what the hair is glued to), since it was tan. If it's black it'll just look like his scalp, if it's blue, then it at least matches the hair ugh.
Anyway, now I have to make his alt hairstyle because I guess I hate myself and need them to look exact instead of just doing what I can with ready made wigs 🥲 hair ref under the cut

Sadly the ponytail is a bit short and I'm not sure I can get around that using yarn.
Below is his alt hair, and I have a feeling I'll be more pleased with how the wig turns out since it's closer to what I've made before

I don't know if I'll try the "natural hairline" this time since a I struggled a lot with it. I may go back to my old techniques instead.
Bonus pic: Joker sitting cutely before I finished styling. This is his brand new, much better body! It's an MDoll School body I found secondhand. The first owner had just received it so it really is brand new. I just had to dye it black.

*extra bonus: background Aymeric

That's my secret, Cap. Most of my dolls don't have human feet.
(Out of my entire collection? Two don't have hooves/paws/claws/robot stumps.)

Clearly that mech needs Predaking to teach him.
Imagining Blurr watching Shockwave just face plant after landing the first time. Just like wow that's the worse anyones ever done good job. Then tries really hard to teach Shockwave to land, but it doesn't really work and Blurr has got to accept it
Blurr: Oh my god that was so bad. Wasn't you forged with your wings??
Shockwave: Yes but. I dunno I tried to get better but every exercise and advice I had never really worked. I guess I'm not built for flying.
Blurr: You was forged. With wings. You was LITERALLY built for flying.
Also now I'm just imagining that at some point Blurr sees some kind of dragon in the sky. Not doing anything just soaring. So high that all you can see from the ground is a silhouette. And Blurr sees the silhouette and goes "wait. That is what Shockwave has. The shape of the wings is really similar! That must be how that should work! Shockwave isn't broken he just tries to keep up with all those speedy flyers while the thing he was built for is completely different!"
Although. The landings are very much just skill issue lmao

Oh, I dig that wrap and how nicely it fits even with the hurdle of horsebutt in the back. I may use this as a reference for some cold weather gear for Gwyn.

Overcoat thing for Kestrel, made from some scrap faux suede and sherpa. Seemed weird to have an underbelt and overbelt, so he'll just use the same one for both.
Now he just needs a coat for the horse part and some accessories. He's supposed to come from a cold climate.

Picked up a garage kit at BJDC this morning! I've never done a garage kit before, but I have the tools on hand for sanding resin down (gloves, sandpaper, respirator and N95 masks) so I think this will be a fun first step into the next step of DIY up from a standard BJD.
Shockwave is there both for scale and to amuse me. Soon, little robot. You will be free soon.

More amigurumi. This is Woobles' Emi kit, which turned out much better than my very quirky looking raccoon. Made her the scarf using the original scarf pattern but with a cotton yarn.
Now making a kitsune based on Emi's pattern. Probably going to have an entire shelf's worth of Little Guys by the end of the summer.

Taurs! I love seeing people's taur collections, they're one of my favorite subgenres of BJD. I'm amused that the giraffe taur is the tallest of them all. How fitting.

all five of my 1/4 -taurs. as you can see, the DV Chaos is unable to stand without support. DV Dean remains the tallest.

Used Woobles' instruction videos to make a scientist bean. For my first attempt at winging my own plan and my second amigurumi attempt overall, I'm pretty pleased with him. He fits right in in the Shockwave cabinet.

She looks like she's gonna steal my breakfast and then say something about the penguins stealing her sanity. Or sporks. 10/10 sparkledog, takes me back to the early 2000s.
Also I just love seeing how people BJD-ify non-human characters. It varies so much and it's interesting to see how people choose to translate things. Will she be getting ears and a tail, I wonder.

I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned this before, but most of my ball jointed dolls are human versions of my sparkledog ocs. I decided to make them into art dolls for fun, and who better to start with than Sunny! I think she turned out super cute, I love her face and all her little bracelets. I learned a lot from making her, and she’s not perfect but seeing both versions of Sunny together makes me really happy.

may i offer you a crumb of nostalgia? or a refreshing sip of vinegar?
some friends & i ended up talking about animorphs a while ago. at some point in the conversation i was explaining andalites to my partner who never read the books, stopped & went ".........you know what i'm gonna do?" to which people responded with "make an andalite bjd?" and yes. they were absolutely correct.
this also finally motivated me to sculpt a centaur body with more joints. i'm very happy with the range on motion in this, especially how nicely it lies down. need to work a little bit on stability, but the poseability is where i want it.

Very interesting to see him in-hand and next to other dolls. I didn't realize how teeny 1/5 still was next to 1/4.

And the final anthro doll box opening for now is Coral Reef x Whale Tower's Ow Woo Woo. I love him very much. He had stupid fast production times, I think only two and a half months?

His box is fairly compact but bulky, and he is a 1/5 doll.

And here we have our little wolf. His ears were an add on you need to purchase and there were some complaints from some users due to how odd it was. Anyways, I got them. His tail is also magnetic and it has a small compartment in it.

I wonder what you can put in here. Hmmmm. Seems pretty handy for extra accessory storage if you are taking it out and about for photos such as extra eyes or tiny props.

His ears stick on well, although you need to put the magnets under the head cap and there's no pit for the magnets. It does give you flexibility on where to put them though which is great if you want to have it wear a fancy wig where you may need to adjust the position of the ears so it won't ruin it.

And here he is next to the other two anthro sculpts. Left is a 1/3 head on a 1/4 body, Ow Woo Woo is a 1/5 doll and has a 17-18 cm head cirumference, and right has a 1/3 head circumference on a 1/6 body. He's on a more traditional BJD scale than the other two, which are newer, with the 1/3 head on a 1/6 body being a much newer standard.

These are really fun and boy that Elita inspires me. God knows I've got faux fur on hand and I've been looking at Dollfies...
Recent humanformers AU stuff
Calling it Kemono workmates
Cuz I lack creativity to come up a proper name for a humanformers with kemono Mimi au

So have the main 4 and Starscream
Orion-fox
Elita 1-Timberwolf
B127-corgi
D-16- a grey flightless canary

Starscream- Lynx
Basically in this AU the high guard commanders they each have something was given by the prime they were closest to.
And for Starscream it was Megatronus Prime

Also some extra doodle of Megatron(D-16)
(d-16 occasionally sleeps on the lockers mostly just for mid day naps due to overwork )
