I am screaming at you, i hope you can hear the echo so that you can understand how emotionally wrecked, and then emotionally healed I was by this final chapter. I am just-IT'S SO GOOD T-T
I do not know how you managed to pull everything together in the most beautiful, gut wrenchingly perfect way. But you did.
I've loved every moment of this fic. From finding your blog years ago (thank you timkon animatic), to watching you develop these characters into something more than a single piece of glorious art, then multiple pieces of glorious art, to the radio silence there for a bit, to Frequency beginning to release, to learning Jude and Nathanial's names, to Three's power being revealed, to Thad finally finally getting to be happy and secure in himself and hug Max.
It's been one hell of a year reading this, and every single moment was worth the journey to get here. This fic is such an inspiration, and I hope that I can someday create something that touches people in the way that Frequency has touched me.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing this with us. <3
AAHHH THANK YOU SO MUCH!! its been a blast to write, im so fuckin.... happy to be done and sad its over and DEEPLY relieved there's a relative consensus that it stuck the landing
thank you for reading, it means a lot ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

How’s it feel to have successfully created a vibrant sub-fandom through Frequency?
uhh kinda uncanny actually!! like its extremely cool and definitely boosts my ego and confidence as a writer, but also ive 100% convinced myself its just me and like a couple other Thad enjoyers just hanging out

Yknow, I was keeping an eye on the Too Many Thads AU stuff back before Frequency even started, and I gotta say? Reading the fic as it was updated, knowing in the back of my mind that you had said you planned to have Thad be the only survivor (and maybe one other clone? the memory’s a bit hazy now.)? That really heightened the experience, honestly. It lent the story a very tragic air from the moment we were properly introduced to Eight and Nine, up until that late-game major twist. So kudos on your sharing your scrapped plans improving the reading experience, lol. Got to have your cake and eat it too.
i guess so! i hadn't even thought of that actually
yeah although im gonna try to commit to not posting in-progress projects before they're done, there was a very specific very fun energy that came out of seeing people get excited with each new chapter. the messages comments and reactions got me So Hyped to write.
(and in some cases the feedback was Vital to check me on certain plot holes... the entire Young Justice dinosaur/robot battle was invented because i got a comment asking why YJ didn't go through the portal to save bart after an hour. And i realized i fucking forgot to add the bit of dialogue where Three tells Thad he manually closed the thing so nobody could get through. so i made up a robot dinosaur fight purely so YJ could tell bart that his stupid portal closed and they couldnt get to the lab. anyway it worked out in the end but lmaoooo)
ive also followed along with ongoing projects (mostly webcomics lol) and watching the thing evolve as it goes is like my favourite thing about it. uncanny to be on the other end of it this time but tbh 10/10 would recommend it was very fun

I 100% get it, I had started writing a script for a comic (developed off of old fanfiction that I revamped then revamped again in the DC universe) and immediately got Really Defensive because if I were to pitch it to DC and it got picked up that's just There now for Editorial and other writers to fuck with because they're a product of their own story and I feel would get turned into this certain flanderized (or worse since these characters are not White) over time. It hasn't gotten far/probably wouldn't have but I do think if I go forward it's gonna be indie route because I think once the character's story is through it needs to be left where it ended.
The defensiveness really blindsides you its wild!
tbh I think everybody who reads comics knows of at least one run that completely ruins a character, or a famously bad editorial decision or retcon that has negative consequences on canon for decades. The idea of that happening to your story or your characters is a genuine shot of anxiety that can really take the wind out of a writers sails.
I think about the Mark Waid interview where he talks about Flash: Fastest Man Alive and what they did to Bart's character, and how he openly said he'd rather Bart be dead than misunderstood/mishandled. Which is probably a lot of writers' sentiments about the characters' they created decades ago turning into something unrecognizable before their eyes.
But it's also an unavoidable reality of writing comics in an interconnected universe manned by corporate interests. It feels like if you want to commit to writing the characters you grew up loving or create new characters for that existing universe, there's some level of letting go that needs to be done. which is why i think despite not necessarily being as financially successful/stable or mainstream, the indie comics scene is still thriving with cool stories and amazing writers.

Hi how are you?? I really like frequency and I decided it would be a great idea to send this ask, as six are some of my favorite characters. I wanted to know some interesting facts about him, I really loved the ending of her fanfic and I'm always following her! So six became one of my favorites, I love the way he is so sarcastic but so selfish, he is so well written in such a short time. What is awesome! Kisses from Biel♡
Hi I'm good!!! And thank you so much I'm so glad you like the fic :D 💖💕❤️ And Six, of course, he's such a fun character to write. Just a deeply uncool guy who thinks he's fantastic.
But as far as interesting facts about Six... most of the things I came up with about him are already in the story, and I didn't think much about him outside of that. But I do think after travelling the timeline for so long and observing the world for so many years, Six probably has way too many interests to count. There's some hints to that in his little hideout, with all the junk from a bunch of different time periods all crammed in there. From modern day anime to ancient poetry to futuristic holograms, Six probably has opinions on all of it.

thank you!!!!! its been so much fun to write im so glad u like it :DD
truly its been very fun to see all the thad enjoyers having a ball making their own art and fics for this relatively minor character that nonetheless had so much potential, kinda a perfect storm for niche fandom creativity

I love the comic book writing sensibility that Frequency has, like how Three and Five's ending is great for the story being told but if it were a published comic it would still leave them on the table for if a future writer wanted to use them.
whats funny is that despite doing my best to keep in line with dc comics/comic writing sensibilities throughout the fic (staying as comics-accurate as possible in terms of continuity/tone/characterization/story elements etc) that particular comic writing reality was one that was like. kind of a genuine anxiety that i didn't know i had until i started writing this thing.
ive said before that in the original concept for Frequency all of the clones (besides Thad) were going to end up dead. whether it was via killing each other or unintentionally being the instrument of their own demise (disney villain style). obviously it changed because creating an entire narrative about this one character's redemption arc and then not allowing any of the other villains to have a shot at redemption felt hypocritical and like. mean. not to mention antithetical to the whole ethos of the story.
but the reason why killing off all the other clones was my first instinct is partially because i had this kinda subconscious recoil to the idea that any of them would actually continue on after the story was over.
like, because i was trying to stick to canon so much, while figuring out the story a thought came up a couple times that basically went like, "okay, well, if this was a real comic, then...". and inevitably i had a realization that if this WAS a real comic, my original clone characters would be canonized, and therefore available to any future writer who wanted to yank them out of their respective endgames and inject them into other stories. which i Did Not Like the Idea Of.
classic "making up a guy to get mad at" except it was more "making up a reality to get anxious about". because obviously no matter how much it sticks to canon, Frequency still exists in a fan-created space.
but! i'd never made up original characters to put in my own fanmade stuff before and was definitely feeling protective. because all those original clones i made had yknow: a story purpose and narrative function to facilitate the actual key characters, Thad and Bart. the idea of them being removed from that context in any capacity, even if it was in the hands of a good writer, made me have this gut "no STOP you're ruining it!!!!" reaction.
they were all made for Frequency, and to foil Thad as a character, i didnt like the idea of Three being brought back as a one-note villain or Jude and Nathaniel getting folded into the wider Flash cast of allies. and none of them were made to be main character material. plus the character roster at DC is already uhh Extremely Stacked i genuinely did not want the takeaway to be "and here's the nEW ADDITIONS TO THE FLASH FAMILY!" because that wasnt the intention
anyway i got over it lol. i still did my best not to leave any loose ends, and have each ending be wholly satisfying on its own, and ideally the oc clones basically continue on offscreen while the true adventures are based around Thad and Bart. but yeah it felt right to leave off on that note (and served the story much better than killing everybody off)

I've been following along to this au since the original drawings and have been so excited to every single chapter you put out. The epilogue was so wonderful it felt like every character had a satisfying ending. This piece of work was so beautifully written, every plot point and character was so thought out. Thank you for making it and I will miss looking forward to every chapter! Wishing you all the best in your future projects
;_; 💕💕💖❤️ this is so sweet thank you!!!

I've put all of my reading on hold while I finish up my own fic,so I'm a lil behind, but I just wanted to say congratulations for making it to the end, and thank you for sharing such a lovely piece with the world! It's been really inspiring to me as a writer and I'm super excited to read the last two chapters. I don't know if you have anything in mind going forward with other writing, but if that's something you decide you want to continue doing then I'll be more than stoked to see what you come up with.
Okay that's enough of that, any more and it'll start getting weird...
thanks so much! it's wild to have actually finished this thing, partially because im unfortunately not in the habit of finishing writing projects and also because its just. its just so long. probably longer than anything ive ever written before.
and ive got a couple other writing ideas bouncing around (ofc) but i think im gonna try prioritizing some original works, since ive been telling ppl im going to make a comic for literal years now so i should probably actually Do That.
still ive learned my lesson with Frequency: if i ever start writing another fic it's gotta be done before i post anything about it. my love of a satisfyingly consistent update schedule is at odds with both life and my struggle to act under pressure, so it might be a lil while before i commit to another big fan work
