Crucial to remember.
“but this didnt used to trigger you” or even “this didnt used to trigger me why am i upset about it now, i must be faking”
memory shifts. you build barriers to protect yourself and depending on the frequency of your exposure to something, those barriers can break down or change
understanding something better can make it feel worse sometimes. look, when you were younger you probably couldnt understand that something was hurting you. now that you know it was bad??? yeah its gonna trigger you worse than it used to because you KNOW now.
recovering from some things can unlock deeper struggles. so you dealt with the issues that were on the surface? well your brain is going to let you access the next level of problems that need to be dealt with now.
life has different phases that expose you to different triggers. stuff that triggers a teen with school responsibilities is going to be different than the stuff that triggers a new parent with a new baby or an adult with a social job or a blogger with constant exposure to daily news.
triggers can be shaped by the trauma of people you know. you can gain new triggers from knowing something related to that happened to someone you care about. once you know how awful a thing can be, even if it wasnt awful for you personally, you can still be sensitive to it.
and most importantly
YOU DONT NEED A REASON FOR SOMETHING TO BE A TRIGGER. yes, there IS a reason, but it’s not your responsibility to immediately understand why your brain does what it does. forcing yourself to analyze too soon is skipping the stage where you learn to cope with it first. learn to cope, then analyze. knowing why is difficult if you cant handle the emotions that come with knowing
UNDERSTANDING COMES WITH TIME AND INTROSPECTION. you should not force yourself to explain your triggers, especially without the guidance of a therapist or trusted, stable confidant.

Witchcraft in Winter:
Tumblr media
As winter in the Southern hemisphere is fast approaching I thought I’d compile a little list of witchy things to do this season. I find that the energy now becomes slower and more sluggish and the focus shifts from creating and thriving to introspection and self-care as it becomes colder. These are small ideas and prompts from my own experience, and as always, feel free to add your own witchy, wintery ideas too!
- Winter is a fantastic time for introspection, self-reflection, seeking past lives and meditation. You may feel more focused on yourself, and this is ok. There is nothing selfish about self-care. Reflect on your personal achievements, what you have done well, what could improve and think about goals for the warmer months following winter.
- Banish illness, bad habits and addictions. I like to make protective wards and sigils to keep away sickness and promote health and vitality during the colder months.
- Focus on keeping yourself healthy and workings to renew yourself. Don’t worry if you aren’t as productive now because winter is a time to slow down and take a magical breather.
- Winter is a great time for reading and I often find myself researching and writing a lot in my grimoire. My focus usually shifts from active spellwork to reflecting on my craft, re-affirming my commitment to it and seeking new knowledge. A lot of witches slow down and take a break from their craft at this time. If you find yourself doing the same it’s totally fine and you are still 100% valid.
Activity ideas:
- Cleanse and organise your witchcraft tools and supplies. Make repairs and get rid of anything you no longer use or don’t need.
- Workings for self-love, self-care, cleansing, banishing and health. Take care of yourself.
- Kitchen witchcraft. Cook hearty meals with ingredients for good health and prosperity. Stir in sigils to promote energy and banish sickness.
- Pay attention to plants and pets if you have them, care for them and make sure they stay healthy in the cold.
- Reading, learning, writing and going through your grimoire. I like to get rid of things I don’t use in my craft and make a list of things I’m curious about or would like to research in more detail. If I don’t have the energy for elaborate rituals I try to stay connected to my craft through learning.
- Light candles and fireplaces, keep warm, have a cleansing and rejuvenating  bath or shower. Enchant coats and gloves, beanies etc to protect you from the weather and keep you toasty when you’re out and about.
- Tea and coffee magic is a favourite of mine in the cold weather. Sometimes when I don’t feel like doing much else I’ll sit with a cup of tea and recharge my energy.
- Wear magical jewellery if you have it. This is a simple way to stay in touch with your craft.
Some Winter associations: element Earth, direction North. Sabbats: Yule (June 21st Southern hemisphere) and Imbolc (August 1st Southern hemisphere).
Happy winter and stay warm!

I protest this FOSTA/SESTA bull, Tumblr. That you’re taking away people’s rights like this is gross, and I shan’t use this site on 12/17/18.

ALL the headmates matter.
To anyone who has DID/OSDD:
You are not faking. You are real, your alters are real, your fragments are real.
You are a real system if you’re active every day, you’re a real system if you have activity once a month, and you’re a real system if you’re active once a year.
You have a dissociative disorder no matter what anyone says.
We all are individuals in our own mind, and that means we heal and accept ourselves at completely different paces.
With love, The Chaotic Collective 🔅

Things I never knew about depression until I finally had a doctor explain the disease to me
Depression can manifest as irrational anger.
My complete and total inability to keep anything clean or tidy for any amount of time is a symptom of my depression. I may never be able to do this. It’s important that I remember that and forgive myself when I clean something out (like my car) and it ends up trashed within a week.
Depression IS A DISABILITY. Requiring accommodations is okay.
Medications don’t make you better, they don’t cure your depression. They serve as an aid. Their purpose is to help you get to everyone else’s minimal level of functioning.
Depression can cycle through periods of inactivity. This doesn’t mean it’s gone away.
The reason I don’t feel like other people understand me is because … well … other people DON’T understand me. They can’t. They don’t have my disability.
Paranoia is par for the course.
Depression can and will interfere with your physical mobility. Forgive yourself when you can’t physically do something.
It’s entirely possible that I may never be able to live by myself. I can’t take care of myself. I need help to do it. And that’s okay.
