Choi Seungcheol (최승철) or known by the stage name SCOUPS (에스쿱스) was born in Daegu, South Korea on August 8th, 1995 ♌︎. SCOUPS, the “S” stands for “Seungcheol”, his birth name. “Coups” is short for coup d'état, which stands for big success.

He became a trainee in 2010 and practiced for 6 years. A member of the Pledis Boys trainees, he has the nicknames “17's Father” and “Beagle King” (because he is the strongest among his trainees). He is an alumnus of Seoul School of Performing Arts (SOPA) and holds the status of a graduate of Hanyang University S1 (Practical Music) as well as Anyang University S2 (Business Administration). He is 178 cm tall with AB type. He has his MBTI checked and published in the content GOING SEVENTEEN 2019 (INFP) & GOING SEVENTEEN 2022 (ISTP).

With the fact that he has deep dimples, he also has long and lustrous eyelashes. Reading, gaming, and sports are his favorite things to do. No wonder he has a very muscular body with solid muscles.

He was chosen as the leader of SEVENTEEN, because of his ability to embrace the members and nurture them very well. His debut with 12 other SEVENTEEN members began on May 26th, 2015. He is the oldest member and belongs to the Leader unit (with Hoshi and Woozi) and HipHop unit (with Wonwoo, Mingyu, and Vernon). He also participated in writing the lyrics of SEVENTEEN's songs, thus becoming a full member of the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) on January 24th, 2025. He is the third member of SEVENTEEN to gain full membership after Woozi (2019) and Vernon (2024).

Me (난) is a pop-rock song written by SCOUPS and Bumzu. The song tells the story of a person who feels like he is not himself. With two personalities that he thinks are different, the person doesn't know which personality or life he likes and becomes his own identity. Every time he looks at himself in the mirror, he feels that the figure reflected behind him is not him.
