Tonight, I was looking at some songs with my cousin & I suggested 'A Little Too Much' by Shawn. Then she instantly turned it down because she said 'it makes you seem like a depressed kid or something'. I was kind of hurt by that. Maybe she didn't mean it intentionally but it was kind of insensitive to me because that song holds a lot of meaning to me. My family may not know this but I'm actually struggling with mental illness(which I don't even know I have or not because my family thinks that having a mental illness is like having a terminal disease and wouldn't let me see a psychologist). Mental illness is a real thing and depression is serious and it's not right to be condescending or disgusted towards the mentally ill because people you're close to and would have never thought to have been mentally ill could be impacted by it ����
