duke's unique place as a daylight vig in gotham and how he got there, (pushed a little by bruce, WAR being from grassroots action as opposed to Bruce's individual journey ) in contrast to Bruce being the first night vig of gotham....... and etc

bunch of olden thoughts about these two. they're both very connection oriented/ connective characters, in spite of their occasional tendencies to self-isolate/etc. community-based maybe is the phrase (which is important for their respective everyman status) with duke's robin and the W.A.R mvt being a sort of de-centralization of Robin (and thusly of batman and robin as this sort of rarely attainably myth) and Tim's various allies and friends and homies o'er the course of his r93 and yj98 runs (and the fact that he barrels into the mythos by way of trying to get bruce and dick to reconnect). tim and duke have a lot of the same lifeblood that flows in their characters and their tenures as robin, even in consideration of their respective identities... both characters represent a forward motion with robin and thusly justice in gotham as a whole, both in times where brucebatmanwayne was stagnating/hurt/etc
and even outside of just robin, they both bring (Brought. . . ) a lot of important friction against batman and his ideas of justice. and so forth....
my dream is to have Tim Drake and Duke Thomas sit down one day and talk about what it means to be Robin. Because their existence as characters featured two transformational takes on the mantle that I find reflect in interesting ways the period in which their characters were created in.
#both of them having comatose parents during their vigilante run which separates them from every other robin and influences...#their sense of justice.#and both of them crucially having roots in a gotham where batman existed#there's a throwaway line in one outsider issue where tim shows up and he hits a corny we ARE robin :D to duke#sorry op there's 50 million threads about agency and grief and community and connection that i chew on#disregard as informal gibberish..........#bm asap#there is much potential for both understanding and misunderstanding.......
