In my eyes, rehauling an entire design just to keep traits is incredibly disrespectful to the original designer who put work into it. I’d rather have a design that gets passed around like a blunt until they land a forever home than have people completely toss out designs that can’t be used ever again. Like what the fuck is the point of getting an adopt if you just wanna change everything about it? Get an MYO slot, idc if it takes way more effort. Respect artists.

does cupic cats have many issues (jona and his many commission/merch/art trade issues, event delays, quite frequent sales (50/50 care about this personally), weird/expensive trait/myo pricing(for examples, non-gold halo being limited to 3 n its separate traits???), bcotw frequently being official cats/ga owned)? Yes

However the redesign rule is really good imo. Less scalpers/flippers happening/breaking artist tos.

Succubuns have made many of you too comfortable disrespecting artists. No wonder some artist straight up refuse to do succubun designs/edits, ie milkat-sprout who left after being fed up of people upselling designs they commissioned her

Last anon: just respect artists. That’s literally all it takes. The mod team has been very clear: they only step in if an artist explicitly states in their TOS that redesigns or other edits aren’t allowed, the person agreed to it, and someone willingly breaks that agreement. That’s not “gross involvement,” that’s called enforcing a boundary that someone agreed to in the first place.

If you don’t like those rules, then don’t buy from artists who have them. No one is forcing you to spend money on a design if you’re planning to ignore its creator’s terms.

I actually think it’s incredible that Cupid Cats respects every artist’s TOS, guest or not. That level of support is rare. It means the community values the work, time, and creativity that goes into every design instead of treating them like interchangeable trade fodder. That’s why I left Succubuns. It’s exhausting watching thoughtful designs get stripped down or thrown around like currency, and when mods prioritize convenience over creator intent, it just drives down the quality of the whole community.

If Cupid Cats ever decided artist boundaries didn’t matter, I—and a lot of others—would be out the door immediately. But so far? Their reputation among artists is excellent, and it’s because they foster actual creativity, not the careless grind of flipping OCs like they’re lootboxes.

Honestly I find the redesign rule really shitty and lame! There’s gonna be a lot of permanent trade-channel cats because someone used a slot on really low effort trade fodder or made a highly personalized oc design that doesn’t fit a lot of tastes.

Also, people should be able to do what they want with a character after they spend money on it. Force-changing a character back to a design someone no longer wants is grossly involved from a mod perspective, and even if an artist doesn’t allow redesigns, I get it, sucks to have your t.o.s broken— just blacklist that person from ever owning your art or designs again, like everyone else does.

Anyway, succubuns is looking better and better. The mods are strict assholes, but they support creativity first. I predict cupid cats will get as shitty a reputation at some point lmao

There’s one artist I’m really rooting for to become a GA. They’re the only one I’ve seen consistently drawing muscular men in cute outfits. Their designs make me happy :)
