The amount of times I think "is Rhys Darby about to fucking die in real life" when watching Stede gambol around is proof of what a phenomenal physical actor he is.
My guy is swinging around on a ladder, basically turning himself upside down, in like the first two minutes of the show. Even Vico Ortiz said they were worried he was about to die doing that. He runs limbs akimbo and I worry about him just faceplanting into a tree/foliage. In s1 he manages to stomp around in his little heels in very impractical environments while also not dying in the attempt.
The way he's able to look so very uncoordinated is a real testament to how coordinated he is I think. He's excellent at physical comedy, and it's funny, yes, but it's also very technically impressive.

Good Omens taught me that love after trauma is possible and that it's okay to still be healing.
Our Flag Means Death taught me that love after a failed relationship is possible and that the more I celebrate my authentic self, the happier I'll be.
What We Do in the Shadows taught me that love as a weird fucked up little guy is possible and that I should keep being a weird fucked up little guy as much as I possibly can.

I wanted to get into some other series since I don't really watch much other than YouTube and cartoon network. Started with Muppets Mayhem because I thought it would be good to start with a series that wouldn't rip me apart like the other three did, because it's muppets and its fine.
I was crying halfway through the series? Hello? What? It's super good and I'm obsessed now but HELLO?

You know, I went into Loki thinking that it would be a good break from the two emotionally devastating season two's experienced this year, those being Good Omens and Our Flag Means Death of course. Loki season one wasn't emotionally charged (except when Mobius "died"), and I'm not THAT huge into Marvel, so it should've been fine right?
Nah, cried. What the fuck is with these finales, dawg

I know I mainly post OFMD stuff but can we talk about how GOOD the Loki series has gotten? Like yeah, it would be better if Mobius and Loki just kissed already, but goddamn I was expecting a break from the emotional torment I've been through this year with my other season twos but NOOO
#the lokius kiss part is joke but also not really but yeah sarcasm for those who didnt catch it#loki#loki season 2#lokius

actually look guys i get the symbolism of izzy being the death of piracy and the ushering in of a new era etc etc BUT i also think this is an unhinged show where ridiculous things happen and my guy actually just passed out from blood loss and when he wakes up and digs himself out he's gonna be soo pissed to find himself stranded with 2 lovey dovey kissy faces idiots in their silly little inn in the middle of nowhere and what do they MEAN they don't offer breakfast to guests what kind of a third rate one star establishment are they running here???!!??

MY CRITICISM ISN’T JUST THAT IZZY DIED. This isn’t because he’s my favorite character. And nobody is wishing they were being handled with kid gloves. Every time I see that take, I want to scream. I can think of LOTS of ways that his death could’ve been handled better. I actually LOVE when my shows and books hurt me. I SEEK OUT media that kills characters I love. Honestly, this show was my break from that. But it’s only good when it makes sense. I’m sorry, but that was weird. Like, really weird. Nobody eulogized him? They didn’t bury him with his leg? He couldn’t think of any reason to go on living because he was just a part of Blackbeard? When Ed called for help, the crew had already written him off as dead despite the fact that this show exists in the universe it exists in and characters have literally been skewered in the same spot and been totally fine? Sacrifice Auntie and Zheng’s weird “soft”thing/reconciliation that felt unearned for the TWO MINUTES that could’ve been better spent paying respect to a major character. I would love more of Auntie and Zheng, but like… let’s be real. The opening with Ed and the fisherman? Cut that down just a smidge. I mean, it wouldn’t have been any more choppy than the rest of the episode turned out. It’s not like we’re just bitching to bitch. I can actively SEE some small ways that it could have been helped. Still wouldn’t have been enough given the constraints but it would’ve been a start.
I don’t know what’s going on on Twitter. I don’t doubt that there are bad actors that are harassing DJ and crew. But those of us screaming in our small corners of the internet are ALLOWED TO HAVE CRITICISMS. It’s almost like some of y’all need to be handled with kid gloves. So scared of hearing anything negative about your precious show. Well, it’s MY precious show, too. It’s okay to admit when things don’t live up to your expectations. It’s okay to move the goalpost, even, and try to be positive when that happens. But it almost feels deceptive to try to convince other people that their criticisms are without merit (especially when some of them are just objective. That shit was RUSHED. The pacing was BAD.)

Still thinking about last week's episode when my dad said "oh" followed by "oh wow" not in his mocking or even shocked tone, but rather his impressed tone, when Wee John then Izzy first showed up with their makeup on, followed by his hearty laughter when Izzy delivered his docking joke/Ed said Izzy was jealous in the next episode

WHAT WAS THAT LOOK GUYS
PS I love the implication that everyone in the Republic of Pirates knows and is afraid of Izzy (a lot of Mr. Hands’ going around and I for one enjoy it)

honestly, due to recent events (season 2) I think the proper way to write steddyhands now is ed and stede pining after our iz-dog, eh?
bc I think, while izzy is still in love with ed, he is completely at peace with it. he's accepted that its stede that completes ed, not him. he's done pining.
and all the while, as time goes on, ed feels like he lost a limb (haha) and stede is still struggling with the pirate thing a bit (bc cmon, ed is gonna warn him abt things, but I doubt he'd train him, and even if he did train him, we remember how the last time ed trained bonnet) they realise, that Izzy balances them both out too
