High perceived value, low actual effort
For better or for worse, I care too much about this.
The perception-effort arbitrage is pervasive at work, in relationships, and especially in social media…
It is both a source of great advantage, but also occasional failure.

it feels awesome to be of value to someone.. esp deep profound value
you get to do this in spades as a family person. more than almost anything else. and this probably is the reason why having kids > not having kids

Hamilton: Irreverent Rebellion on Many Levels, The Essence of America
We just watched what hands-down was the best musical I’ve ever watched. It rocked me to my core - the beat, rhythm, story, production, and especially the soulful performances. How can the story of nation-building be so compelling? The story arc of Eliza was especially heartbreaking. By the end of the show, my soul was vibrating with emotion and awe and delight. This is what great art can do for us, cleansing our souls of the dust of daily life.
It also got me thinking how much of a work of genius Hamilton is. Hamilton was an irreverent rebel, America was founded by irreverent rebels, the diverse casting is an irreverent rebellion on white American history, the musical itself broke barriers as an irreverent rebellion on the genre, irreverent rebellion is the essence of the American spirit that drove so much of the innovation throughout modern history, and also why American entertainment is so compelling for everyone around the world.
Bonus: A surreal escape from duty for a few hours, like stepping into another world, another life, and first musical watched here

Light or Dark? Black or White?
Can’t believe how fixated I’m getting with this.
But overall I gravitate towards white/light. Or at least natural.

I now know where most of my time goes
I go into unnecessary diminishing-returns rabbit holes of either ‘the current thing’ or ‘the latest shiny new thing’ whichever it is.
Podcasts, youtube, blogs, reddit, trying to find all the commentary I can get my hands on.
Recently it was the NBA playoffs, and Daylight computer, and before that was Copilot and Surface, then the iPad, then the Rabbit (come to think of it a lot of it has to do with gizmos and gadgets)
I do get remnants of knowledge and wisdom there, and it does spice up my life, but it is absolutely sub-optimal. It gets in the way of my goals and how I structure my time and time-boxing.
