The fandom outrage was quite funny. I think the series made that very clear that Toga and Ochaco weren’t going to be endgame so when I saw people upset I had a hard time understanding why a lot of people kept thinking it was surely going to happen.

I find it hilarious that people got really mad that ochako X toga wasn't going to be cannon when it was really obvious that it was not going to be

I will be brutally honest but the people who love to whine that “Ochaco only thinks about Deku” even thought that isn’t true only say this talking point just because Ochaco developed feelings for the main character. Deku as a main character influences a lot of people he meets and we even have a character whose entire storyline revolves around atoning towards Deku and yet no one says anything about that.

The reason certain ships did not become canon is that when we are talking about building up a romantic ship, it's important to take note that if a dynamic starts its series off with character A bullying character B or character A trying to kill character B then it won't ever turn into a romantic relationship. Most shounen series always set up their intended ships without much friction or conflict between the people involved in the ship.
