Hogfish (Lachnolaimus maximus), family Labridae, found in the western Atlantic, along the coasts of North and South America, and the Caribbean

Like many wrasses, this species is a protogynous sequential hermaphrodite. They start off their lives as females, and become males when they get older.

this messed up vintage cat sewing pattern has tormented me since i saw it & like some other folks have done in that post - i tried my hand at tweaking the pattern to resemble the illustration (and my personal tastes) a little more. i've ended up with this. i bestow it upon you nice folks now 👐

Reminds me of the Golden Compass book alternate dimension pelican swan monster-like creatures

tried to go to sleep after a long day, but as soon as I closed my eyes, I imagined a great white pelican in the room with me, opening its wings with such vivid detail that I jolted awake on pure animal reflex to try and stop it from wrecking everything. accosted by the demon pelican.
