Also side note about that race poll due to twitter apparently mocking this site for being white as hell
>OP being like "race is not a scientific concept so these poll responses are imperfect" (yes good fine)
>OP being like "if you don't feel these options resonate with you I implore you to reblog this and tell me why"
>suddenly gets mad at the Latinos speaking up and saying Latino is not a race and is like "people didn't read the disclaimerrrr I told you it wasn't perfect!!"
Okay but like you did implore people to share if they didn't feel the responses resonated, right. Like that is a thing you put in the disclaimer. Right???
#the least OP could have done was to frame it as 'race/ethnicity/cultural background' as more of a catch all#because yes race is a construct!!! but the point of the post was cultural norms and hegemony. right????? not pseudoscience????

UPDATE: it works on some link methods but not others

THIS (above) WORKS WHEN IT'S IN THE SOURCE TAG.

Muting "twitter.com" does not prevent posts that source this way, this still shows up. It does, however, block posts that link to twitter in the body of the text (like if someone is talking about something else and links to a tweet as a source, with a hyperlink - it does not mute the auto-generated screencaps that tumblr makes when a tweet is linked.)
Muting "view on twitter" also does nothing.
So basically if you want to mute auto-generated screencaps, it only works if the link used was from x, not if someone is still using twitter URLs (which redirect to x) to source. I have no idea why.
man I wish there were a way to mute posts that source from certain websites
#thought this might be useful for people since the post got a few likes#it'd be nice to not be reminded regularly that half my friends are still giving an out and proud nazi ceo clicks!!#why am i seeing more tweet links AFTER he made grok even more awful and racist than before#idc about old tweet screencaps btw lmao#i do care about how in the year of our lord 5785 people are still amplifying posts from the nazi website with a nazi chat bot

you know instead of white people guilting each other going “I don’t want to blog in an ethnostate” (a real thing I’ve really seen people say) or “omg we’re so white that’s dire” maybe they could actually unpack and address the problems that make Tumblr a difficult space for nonwhite bloggers.
also I don’t think any of us should be taking criticisms from Twitter users - any nonwhite person who’s on Twitter at this point is in bed with literal Nazis, and they don’t get to go “oh wow racist website” at someone while Grok is declaring itself Mecha-Hitler and they stay logged on - but that’s a completely different post.

So Tom Lehrer was Jewish, and you will see a lot of Jews, and people who know about Judaism saying, may his memory be a blessing, or z''l, which is short for the same phrase in Hebrew. and, in fact, I said may his memory be a blessing on another post. but there is another saying that is often said by Jews to mark a death, which I feel is much more appropriate. That phrase is Baruch dayan ha'emet, meaning "Blessed is the true judge." Baruch dayan ha'emet is often abbreviated as BDE.
I can't think of anyone who would more appreciate the double meaning in BDE than Tom Lehrer, or anyone who embodied the other meaning of BDE more.
