You think Happy Chaos is too cliche as a villain?
I already answered this before.
I don't see Happy Chaos' as a 'villain' or 'person', to me...he's more of a force of nature that embodies the negative aspects of humanity in Guilty Gear.
Even though his mannerisms are strikingly similar to the Joker from Batman, mostly Heath Ledger's Joker, there is a big difference between the two. If we can consider the Killing Joke as his origin story, the Joker is the result of how one very VERY bad day can change someone for the worse.
Happy Chaos is more 'enlightened' than the Joker, just a more twisted version. His predicament was all due to absorbing the negative aspects of mankind and also being drenched with too much information from the Backyard, which altered his appearance and mindset.
The Joker's goal is to prove Batman's ideology wrong and that he is no different from his rogue gallery along with that anyone can lose their minds from one bad day. Every man has a breaking point, even those that work for the law! Everything is a big fat joke and life is meaningless! No purpose! It's a laughing stock! That's why if he manages to make Batman break his morals, he wins, even if it kills him in the end. A greater example of Joker's influence on people would be Injustice, where the clown himself managed to make Superman, the beacon of hope, snap. That's the idea of the Joker.
Happy Chaos is far different. If you did character analysis on him (I could be wrong), he is kind of the exact opposite of the Joker, he seeks to find value and meaning behind the person he fights and interacts with.
“I don’t care about winning. I’m just here for the pleasure. Not of the fight, but of you. You see? We may discover something that ties you, me, and the world together. Your strength, your weaknesses. Your knowledge, your ignorance. The burden on your shoulders that pushes you forward. Something truly unique. Any one of these things can be charming or despicable. This world is a broad, colorful carpet. But if you pull a single thread from beneath your feet and start to unravel it. [NOTHING BUT EXISTS] *gunshot* That thread’s name is ‘necessity’. Everything is connected. One may witness an unfathomable sight and call it a 'miracle’, but that’s a misnomer. It’s all cause and effect. And you should never mistake 'necessity’ for 'fate’. Humans have the freedom of choice, but it seems you know that already. Come play with me again.”
So, even though these two are similar, they're written differently.
Is Happy Chaos 'cliche'? On paper, maybe...at least to you, but as a character, he is very complex. He's more than just someone who causes mayhem for the sake of 'drama'.
