LET'S GOOOOOOOO

Carrie the Musical off-broadway came out 10 years ago today!
Happy anniversary to my favorite musical! I discovered Carrie from this musical and since then my family's lives have not known peace.

Good golly miss Molly! (my reaction whenever I listen to The Destruction)

carrie is just so tragic man, like, we see that she couldve been a normal teenage girl ??? she talks back 2 norma, she's witty and that one line (im don maclean's secret lover) gives her so much personality. it gives the reader so many "what ifs" bc what if her mother wasn't the way she was ? what if the kids at school hadn't bullied her ? would she have felt the need to hide her wit then ? would she have been funny and full of personality instead of the angry, shielded person she turned out 2 be ? even she herself is amazed at her own wit and audacity, as if she didn't think she had it in her bc she's spent all her time hiding and trying to be good. she tried to be so good. FUCK.

Sometimes I think about how Margaret White is actually a very tragic woman if you think about her hard enough and the musical is really the only source that touches on this.
Like, she’s still an awful awful woman, but she has such a tragic story behind her. I wish more adaptations touched on her relationship with Ralph White and the fact that she had a literal miscarriage before she had Carrie.
The musical really does her justice, and Chloe Grace Moretz had a great point during an interview: Margaret doesn’t do the things she does for power and control, she does it genuinely because she wants to protect Carrie from the sins of the world and doesn’t want her to turn out like she did. Does it excuse anything she did? Fuck no. But it’s really sad when you think too hard about it.
I could go on for hours about it, honestly. I love Margaret’s character so much.
