Pony running a D&D campaign with the gang
Pony as the DM
Soda is the player who keeps wanting to do stuff that makes Pony say, “I mean, you can try……”
Two-Bit is the guy whose character is a sexy woman, like an elf princess.
Dally just plays himself.
Steve becomes a stickler for the rules and when Pony tells him he can’t do something he whips out the page that says he can.
Johnny’s that player who describes craziest character choices in his normal, real life subdued demeanor; hunched into his seat, in his usual low, soft voice, “um…….ok, so he takes his ax and, uh, just starts choppin all their heads off.”
Darry mostly just rolls the dice when he’s supposed to and doesn’t really do so much RPing, until he drops the most insane lore for his character that’s either so heartbreaking or so fucked up or both, that Pony never looks at him the same way again.

Darry on Father’s Day.
Darry who sometimes visits his parents graves but in the almost six months since they passed, has only gone three times. Darry who wakes up and feels an ache in his chest larger than normal. Darry who goes to work cause he’s still got brothers to feed and lights to keep on. Darry who feels an emptiness at his side the whole day.
Darry who stops at the cemetery after his shift and sinks down in front of his dad’s grave and tells him everything. How he’s scared and lost and everything he does seems to make Pony mad and Soda’s smile duller. Darry who lets himself cry as he stares at the headstone with his own name carved into it cause he carries his father’s name.
Darry who starts apologizing cause he can’t seem to do right by his brothers and he’s so sorry he ain’t never gonna be anywhere near as good as his dad was. He’s too rough without meaning to be and his temper is hot and his patience is short. He ain’t nothing like his dad. He may carry his name and his face, but he isn’t carefree like his dad or lighthearted or gentle.
Darry who forces himself up and wipes the dirt off his dad’s pants that he now wears to his dad’s job that’s now his. Darry who gets into his dad’s truck that’s now his. Darry who parks in the driveway and tries to compose himself and step back into the far too large shoes his dad left behind.
Darry who lost his dad too. Darry who grieves differently than his brothers but still grieves. Darry who aches for one more pat on the back from his dad or one more time he says he’s proud of his son. Darry who aches to be called “junior” instead of “Darrel” or “Mr. Curtis”. Darry who can never go back to just being his dad’s first son.
Just Darry on Father’s Day.
