Top 10 Image Formats That Are Best for Custom Web Development
custom web development is one of the biggest trends in this era because now a day’s software has tons of functionality that cannot work properly on our hand held devices and our home computers.
So the software industry moved software applications on cloud platforms to utilize the resources effectively. No user needs an application all the time neither does an application have large number of users.
The biggest chunk of data that creates bottlenecks is images so it necessary to resize images to correct resolution with latest image formats that offers high quality images with minimal size. Before discussing the best image formats let’s get to know the basics about images.
There are mainly two types of image files Raster and Vector with respect to which we have created dozens of image formats that we are using today.
Bitmap or Raster Vs. Vector and their image formats
Raster images are created by gathering pixels together which are painted in different colours, on zooming raster images one can easily observe the pixels. Raster images have the capability to create colour gradients with a subtle blend of multiple colours.
Raster images are used for cameras and tile shaped images in which colour detailing and visual effects can be embedded easily. Raster images have JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF  Make an Inquiry about this newsand many other image formats.
Raster images are usually edited with paint, Photoshop etcetera.
Vector images are created by mathematical calculation in programming from one point to the other, on zooming vector images one easily observe that rendered image show same visual graphics without distortion. Vector images doesn’t have the capability of creating colour gradient nor they have support for wide range of colours.
Therefore, they are being used to create logos and charts in data analytics applications which do not distort on enlarging images. Vector images have SVG, WEBP, BMP, EPS and many other image formats.
Tumblr media
Vector images are usually edited with adobe Photoshop, illustrator, Inkspace, BoxySVG and office suites.
   JPEG
JPEG image format supports lossy compression for digital images. JPEG image format is normally used for tile shaped images as it achieves 10:1 compression with little loss in image quality.
   JPEG2000
JPEG 2000 image format was developed by Joint Photographic Experts group in the year 2000. JPEG 2000 offers superior compression ratio, error resilience, HDR support and progressive transmission by pixel with which smaller parts of images are loaded first to show a blurred image and rest of the pixels are loaded later on to display high quality image.
This image format reduces the first time of interaction for websites which projects the custom web development to be highly responsive on user’s end.
   JPEG XR
JPEG XR image format was developed by Microsoft. This image format supports lossless and lossy compression with a better compression rate which provides little bit more clarity than JPEG 2000 at almost same size.
   PNG
PNG is a raster graphics file format that supports lossless data compression. This image format was designed for transferring images over internet but images are bulky in PNG.
Web designers Make an Inquiry about this news are still using PNG image format because it is possible to create images like logos which do not have any background layers in images.
Tumblr media
   GIF
GIF is a raster image format developed by a team from CompuServe led by an American computer scientist Steve Wilhite in 1987. Images in this format have a slightly better compression ratio than PNG but the main reason for popularity of this image format is that one can create motion graphics with this image format.
Video clips of about 5 seconds can be converted into GIF of smaller size and can be added as image in the content.
   TIFF
TIFF is a raster image format for storing raster graphics images, popular among graphic artists, the publishing industry and photographers. TIFF is widely supported by scanning, faxing, word processing, optical character recognition, image manipulation, desktop publishing, page-layout and 3D applications.
   WEBP
WEBP is a raster image format developed by google and was first launched in 2010. as a new open standard for lossy compressed true-color graphics for web.
This image format provides superior lossless and lossy compression that generates images which are 26 to 34% smaller than JPG images making it by far the best format for custom web development. Google provides image converting utilities to WEBP image format for all operating systems and APIs that developers can integrate in to their code to dynamically converting uploaded images in to WEBP.
   SVG
SVG is an XML based vector image format developed as open standard by world wide web consortium in 1999. SVG images and their behaviours are defined in XML text files which means they can be edited by any text editor as well as drawing software.
These files in SVG image format can be searched, indexed, scripted, and compressed but they have limited support for colours but it is not possible to swiftly blend multiple colours together to create colour gradients. SVG images will not distort on enlarging them because they are composed of fixed set of shapes so web designers use SVG image format to create logos.
   EPS
EPS is a Postscript based vector image format that was developed by Adobe. EPS images are postscript documents which contains text as well as images.
EPS images can be converted in to bitmap image formats PNG, JPG, TIFF and PDF with adobe illustrator.
Tumblr media
   AI
AI image format file is a drawing created with Adobe Illustrator which is a vector graphics editing program. It is composed of paths connected by points, rather than raster image data.
AI files are commonly used in creating logos. Since Illustrator image format files are saved in a vector format, they can be enlarged without losing image quality.
Some third-party programs can open AI files but they might raster the image where the vector data will be converted to a bitmap format.
Those who read it till the end of my list, here are two bonus formats for custom web development.
   PDF
PDF image format is a multi-platform document created by Adobe Acrobat or another PDF application. The PDF image format is commonly used for saving documents and publications in a standard format that can be viewed on multiple platforms.
In many cases, PDF files are created from existing documents. Pdf image format files are based on the PostScript language which encapsulates a complete description of a fixed-layout flat document, including the text, fonts, vector graphics, raster images and other information required to display it.
   SWF
SWF is an Adobe Flash file format Make an Inquiry about this news used for multimedia, vector graphics and Action Script. SWF image format files can contain animations or applets of varying degrees of interactivity and functions.
They may also occur in programs, commonly browser games, using Action-script for displaying motion graphics.

How Can a Custom Web Development Toronto Company Become a Reliable Partner to Your Company’s Success?
Today’s marketplace is always moving and always changing. This means more pressure to find new ways of streamlining your operations. But sometimes it can mean costly retraining and constantly trying to keep up with what’s new and what it means for your business. So what’s the answer? Outsourcing. Take advantage of other people’s expertise and focus on what you do best. Let someone else take care of navigating the new landscape and reap the rewards by both having more time and by boosting to your bottom line.
Business is moving at an incredible pace these days, which means there is pressure to look for ways to make your operations leaner and more efficient. There just isn’t the time to experiment with some projects or learn new skills. Sometimes it’s just better, easier and quicker to outsource. Rather than looking at this as an admission of failure or bemoan the lack of resources, you should learn to start seeing it as an opportunity to grow.
This could be just the injection of knowledge and expertise that your business needs to grow and thrive in a crowded marketplace. Outsourcing some of your operations to other companies with the knowledge and skill sets that you need allows you to distribute your assets in a more effective way. Choose the right partner and it could even be key to your success. Working with a suitable partner can complement your core skill areas, save resources, save time and build your product
One of the key areas where outsourcing can have the biggest effect on your business is with custom web development toronto. This isn’t just a resource-saving option – although that can be a key part of it – but it can be a way to take your business to the next level. Here are just some of the ways that a partner custom web development toronto company could be a benefit.
Tumblr media
Seamless solutions to specific needs
An effective custom web development toronto partner should be able to work closely with you and partner on your projects in the most seamless way possible. It is an obvious concern for some businesses that partner companies won’t be able to fully integrate or understand your business’s core needs. But a professional software company not just understands the technical side of the industry but also recognizes the need to communicate and collaborate, fitting nicely into the routine and working practices of the client’s organization.
Enhancing integration
Any new software or technology that a company chooses to implement can throw up a range of issues. For a company with little or no experience implementing these kinds of systems, this can potentially be a huge problem.
Partner with software professionals and you can improve the integration of any new system. Whether it’s for accounting, stock management, IT or communications, there are software packages for all areas of business that could help you to work smarter and slicker.
UX design
Whether it’s for internal or external customer-facing use, the most critical factor of any business is the user experience. How easy is it to navigate and find what you want? How does the platform perform and are there glitches causing issues? Working with a team of professionals you are far more likely to be working with software that is UX designed and tested.
Branding
Creating a consistent image that runs through every aspect of your business and conveys your goals, personality and influences has become increasingly important over the past few years. Customers begin to build emotional ties with your brand and relate to the visual aspect of everything you do. This means that every aspect of your business, including any software you use, needs to be branded in line with your overall design policy. A reliable partner will be able to develop an understanding of your brand and work out when and where it is necessary to use these tools.
Support
This is another key issue for many small businesses dealing with technology and software. What happens when things go wrong? Who do you turn to for help when things are not working in the way they should? Sure, there are after sales support teams in place for most software packages, but how much support can you get from a chat function or call center? If your site or systems go down, you need immediate support to get it back on track before it starts to affect your business in a negative way.
Working with a custom web development toronto specialist, you have a team of skilled and experienced people on hand to resolve any issues should they arise.
Tumblr media
Enhanced protection
Safety and security are also key to business success. Both in terms of your own data and information, and those of your clients. Any breaches can be very damaging for your reputation and potentially cause lasting damage to your business. Working with a custom web development toronto team you get the added bonus of tighter security measures. This enhanced security can be a real bonus and great for peace of mind.
Cut costs
You have to invest to get a return. It’s the basic principle of business. Yet you often hear small business owners complain about the costs of outsourced support. But the reality is that with the right help you can really make big savings in the long run.
The bottom line
Finding a development company that can provide all these services and more will save you a huge amount of time and money in the long run. Working with a trusted team gives you access to a motivated and like-minded group of people who understand what it is you are trying to achieve. Skilled software designers can work with all types of businesses, big or small, modern or traditional, to engage and connect with any project they undertake.

10 No-nonsense Web Design Trends for 2019
So, what’s coming in 2019? Here are a few predictions…
1. The Death of Flat Design
In our UX trends for 2019, Will Grant of Prodlytic says he hopes “to see the tide turn again against flat design and a return to (subtle) visual affordances in UI across the board.”
As early as 2014, Co.Design was asking “Is flat design already passé?” And this year designers are all talking about drop shadows and gradients again, the affordances that Grant talks of.
Indeed, a study by Nielsen Norman Group in 2018 showed that users took 22% longer to navigate through an ultra-flat design.
Tumblr media
2. Video
I’m not exactly putting my neck on the line in predicting video will be big. It already is. From media sites that are pivoting to video, to more ephemeral video on social networks, and video in website design – it’s everywhere.
Video, however, remains a bit of a controversial ecommerce web design toronto element to some UX professionals. Especially in ecommerce, it can be seen as a distraction, lumped in the same category as auto carousels (just read the comments on a previous article about video backgrounds).
However, as always, the usefulness of video depends on what the website and designer are trying to achieve. I still believe hero/background video has a place on desktop – for example, click through the GIF below to visit the new Barbican website and I defy you to say the video background doesn’t convey the scale and splendour of the Barbican’s architecture.
3. Subtle Scrolling Effects
Parallax scrolling has been and gone, with many designers recognising that slow load times and a negative impact on usability represent too high a price to pay for the effect.
But that doesn’t mean there can’t be joy in scrolling. One of my favourite examples is the use of an attached background image that doesn’t scroll with the page.
4. Death of the Ghost Button
Arguably this isn’t a big deal, but I feel compelled to address it, given the ghost button is one of the web design trends we have trumpeted in previous years.
Christopher Ratcliff rightly pointed to the boom in ghost buttons at the end of 2014, referring to them as “not quite a call-to-action. Perfect for designers not wishing to clutter their sites with albeit necessary navigation.”
Unfortunately, this proved to be too accurate a description i.e. these buttons simply don’t call the user to action.
A fantastic blog post by Bartholomew Fish details the provenance of ghost buttons (coming out of flat design) and shows some highly missable examples.
The problem is that ghost buttons don’t offer sufficient contrast when placed over busy imagery or text. Similarly, if button text colour is too similar to background image colour, there can be a contrast issue.
The result can be a 20% decrease in clicks, according to some studies detailed in Fish’s blog post.
5. Sticky Nav
Sticky or fixed navigation, such as header menus that follow you (or stick in place) as you scroll down a page, is not particularly new. But as retailers redevelop their ecommerce sites, it’s a design feature we are seeing more and more of.
6. Typography
A trend for a few years now – typography as visual. Serif fonts are making more of an appearance, too.
We’ve seen agency websites using impactful typography throughout 2018.
7. Brutalism Meets Luxury E-commerce
Brutalism is a style of architecture that flourished in the 1960s and is so-called after Le Corbusier’s description of one of his materials, béton brut (raw concrete). Seeing as we’ve mentioned the Barbican twice already, it’s worth pointing to again as perhaps the most famous example of a brutalist development in the UK.
Anyway, it seems the term has been co-opted into web design at some point in 2017. It’s worth checking out a wonderful template for UX brutalism created by the UX Design Collective.
Brutalism is a style most often seen on adventurous agency websites and artist websites – generally fairly limited affairs in terms of number of pages and degree of functionality.
8. Curves
Twitter replaced square profile photos with round ones in 2017, as well chamfering off square edges throughout its design.
9. Mobile Animation
Airbnb Lottie is a library that allows “apps to use animations as easily as they use static images.” John Moore Williams highlights it as one of the many tools emerging to help designers create more complex interactions.
10. Web VR?
I needed something for the 10th trend in this list. Will web VR enter the average consumer’s life? I doubt it. But Google is still curating experiments.
