Entrepreneurial mind is a labyrinthine journey, fraught with challenges and laden with opportunities. Within the realm of entrepreneurial minds, the quest to innovate often involves overcoming multifaceted hurdles. Embarking on an entrepreneurial journey demands resilience and adaptability. From ideation to execution, we, as students, encounter a myriad of challenges. Initial hurdles often include market research to validate the demand and feasibility of the product. Studying about funding, developing a viable business model, and assembling a proficient team further add layers of complexity. The rollercoaster of uncertainty, rejection, and perseverance becomes a hallmark of the entrepreneurial mindset. Moreover, navigating regulatory landscapes, sourcing sustainable materials, and establishing supply chains can pose formidable obstacles. However, each challenge serves as a crucible for growth, fostering creativity, resourcefulness, and the ability to pivot in the face of adversity. It is through these challenges that entrepreneurs evolve, refining ideas and strategies to align with market dynamics and societal needs.

The journey of creating particle boards from coconut and mahogany exemplifies our entrepreneurial spirit in action. Initially, extensive research into material properties and feasibility studies determines the viability of utilizing coconut husks and mahogany wood in particle board production. The process involves collaboration with carpenters in material processing and manufacturing. Mahogany, renowned for its strength and aesthetics, undergoes meticulous selection and treatment to ensure optimal performance within the boards. In an era where sustainability takes precedence, the search for eco-friendly materials is imperative. Coconut and mahogany particle boards have emerged as remarkable solutions, offering versatility, durability, and environmental benefits. Their integration into various industries showcases a promising avenue for a greener future. Coconut husks, often regarded as waste, are rich in fibers. When processed, these fibers create a durable and lightweight material perfect for particle boards. Meanwhile, mahogany, known for its strength and beauty, possesses qualities that enhance the structural integrity of such boards.

Utilizing coconut and mahogany for particle boards presents numerous environmental advantages. Firstly, it diminishes the reliance on traditional timber, curbing deforestation. A Start of Everything

As they say, people differ in their choices based on what they experience first-hand. In the past week, our team decided to interview 8 people for each member. From a student to retiree, it amazed me how people from different ages have a pursuit of ideas that helped us in gathering information to come up with a solution.  3 interviewees suggested an app delivery around Musuan that could deliver every student’s needs especially for food, 3 interviewees suggested for organic coal production, and only 2 interviewees suggested for wood production. With this, one question is asked “why not make it an environment and a budget-friendly product?”. Upon analysis of the interview results and as a team that aims for a sustainable product that could benefit the society as a whole, we decided to look up in furniture production specifically in particleboard production, since only few take this kind of business. Not only that, it can contribute to the preservation of trees and can introduce a new source of fiber (organic fiber) for particleboard making. It will also help in reducing waste materials since it will be converted into useful products such as particleboard. It is not just beneficial to the environment but also for the economy, researchers, academic organizations, companies, public sector bodies as this improves services and quality of life not only for today, but also for generations to come.

Coming up to a solution to various problems mentioned by the interviewees was not easy. Problems from different fields of industries were intriguing where we wish we could be of help at some point.  Furthermore, the team held meetings to meet the standards of a Start-up business in which we decided to have a budget-friendly and a sustainable product.

With the interviews conducted, the team has 3 options namely the production of coal, production of scrub, and the production of wood specifically particleboard. As students, we discussed the pros and cons of the solutions which came up to a decision to choose the particleboard production. As of today’s generation, the furniture industry has a wide demand for good variety of woods as its raw material for production has flourished. Therefore, wood is the main ingredient for the growth of this industry. However, there are a lot of concerns regarding the global warming effect and campaign for green areas as well as anti-deforestation in every country (Diesel & Hermann, 2020). A solution to this problem is to find an alternative material for creating particleboard that can benefit us and would create better opportunities in the field of business. Particleboard is widely used in the furniture industry, both home exterior and interior, vapor barrier and insulation, soundproofing and sound deadening. Since coconut shell waste is highly prevalent nowadays where there is no proper disposal, our product is to find an organic compound and mix it with coconut fiber as alternative materials in the production of particle board. Hence, the aim of this product is to turn waste materials into a useful one that will be of a great help in addressing environmental problems.

Honestly, I did not expect that this subject is a one heck of a roller coaster ride but in a good way. I am quite surprised that business industry has so much to offer which we can learn from. For now, there is one lesson we learned in the past week which is to plan ahead of time. From what I learned in a seminar that I attended, thorough planning is the first process to carry out a successful result. Indeed, life may hinder us sometimes in planning for ideas, but one thing is for sure, teamwork can conquer it all. Hence, salute to my team for carrying out planning sessions that thoroughly taught us different solutions to different problems.

A challenging world of Particle Board Production

In a world increasingly aware of the environmental and social challenges we face, the demand for sustainable products is on the rise. Consumers are not only looking for quality and value but also products that have a positive impact on the planet and society. This shift in consumer preferences opens up a world of opportunities for entrepreneurs willing to invest in sustainable solutions. As our product focuses on recycling waste materials such coconut husk for particle board production, we updated our questions during interviews to seek advice and suggestions from a different perspective, the carpenters. These people are considered as the backbone of the furniture industry as they are the ones building or making it.

Using coconut husk for particle board production is an innovative and sustainable approach that not only helps in reducing waste but also provides an eco-friendly alternative to conventional particle boards made from wood. Coconut husk, also known as coconut coir or coconut fiber, is a natural byproduct of the coconut industry and has various applications, including as a raw material for particle boards. With novelty, uniqueness, and sustainability, the group decided to add Miracle fruit to our product. The unique properties of miracle fruit might offer some advantages, but it is also important to address challenges related to supply, quality, cost, and regulatory compliance. When looking for a sustainable particle board, the interviewees consider factors such as the source of the materials (e.g., recycled wood or sustainably managed forests), low emissions during production, and overall durability. The use of miracle fruit and coconut fiber in particle board production could potentially be an appealing and innovative concept, especially if it offers both sustainability and quality, however, market demand would depend on factors like pricing, performance, and marketing. Moreover, the price per product would depend on the prices of the materials to be used (miracle fruit, coconut), the number of demands of the product, as well as its suitability for a customer's budget which most interviewees suggested that it would probably cost around ₱200-₱400. Lastly, the edge of a sustainable particle board over competitors could be its unique materials, reduced environmental impact, and potential health benefits if the miracle fruit is beneficial. Marketing these advantages effectively would be crucial.

Overall, the use of sustainable miracle fruit and coconut husk for particle board production represents an innovative approach to creating environmentally friendly and unique building materials. While both materials offer distinct advantages, they also come with their own set of challenges that we acknowledge. It demonstrates a commitment to sustainability and the exploration of unconventional but eco-friendly alternatives in the construction and furniture industries. The success of this product definitely depends on extensive research, quality control measures, supply chain management, cost-effectiveness, and consumer awareness. Ultimately, these innovative approaches align with the growing demand that we are aiming for sustainable and unique construction materials, contributing to a greener and more responsible future.
