Man it can be hard sometimes when you agree with stuff like “do not platform Fascists/do not ever talk to them in a public forum” but you also recognize that a lot of the time when people say this as a blanket statement to criticize leftwing commentators who spend a huge amount of time critiquing the systems and even trying to deradicalize Fascists’ target demos outside of doing any kinds of direct debate, they are actually just soothing their own ego because they do literally nothing in this sphere but judge people on their side who are 100% against Fascism and they want asspats for doing nothing the right way. 

“I would never ever talk to a Fascist or even play a video of what one is saying on stream, that would mean my stream revenue would be tied to reacting to their content what a slipper slope!”

Meanwhile what they really would “never ever” do is literally... anything at all. Saw a lot of people QRTIng a certain tweet about this whom have zero platform themselves and could never platform anyone anyway and its like. Ah yes, easy to be smug when the core concept your espousing is “do nothing, like me!” lol.  And again, its hard, cuz generally I agree platforming Fascists is bad and can spread their ideas. But when someone is large enough their ideas are spread regardless sometimes it actually is good to have people on the other side who give counter information, especially people that Fascists target demo (disaffected young men for the most part) might see themselves in like another guy. Especially when the majority of that persons content isn’t debate but just debunking vids/reacting to political content. But nah, clearly sitting on twitter doing nothing is how to make a difference because as we all know doing nothing the right way is much better than doing something that has any possible flaws.
