Yes, I am. It’s not the most open city to LGBT community; up to now it’s a criminal act to have homosexual act between consenting men.

The gay community is small so everybody knows almost everyone. I try to stay away from the scene because the gays like to talk and I’m not one to thrive on drama. But the gay community is there. The gays still go on Grindr, even though you’ll see a lot of headless torsos because a lot of locals are closeted. People still find ways to have sex and celebrate individuality and go to the sauna.

From a scale of Riyadh to Berlin, Singapore is somewhere near the middle but still a long way to go.

But it’s been alright so far. Gay men are on Grindr, gay men go on dating, gay men have sex inside their houses, hotels, sauna and sometimes even risking it by doing it in public.

Racism and femme discrimination exist in Singapore. It’s also a small community and very clique-y. I’m not part of the scene because people talk and some of them can be very malicious. I guess it’s pretty normal but I’m not one thriving in drama so I try to avoid it as much as I can.
