Played a few more game demos recently! It's been a hot minute due to being just so busy but finally getting to try stuff out! Still want to make it a habit.

First demo I played tonight was Buffet Knight!
Best I can think to describe it is if you were playing as kirby in an old zelda game. I love how brisk and straightforward it is, the charm, and the fact that I can suck up the environment to attack enemies, then use their corpses to attack other enemies. Overall a silly but fun game I'm looking forward to playing the full version of later!

Next up was Blobun, of lesbian bunny fame. I enjoyed the puzzles, some were simple and satisfying to one-shot, others I had to really think and mess around with. The last puzzle definitely earned its keep (even though half of it was because I was Very Dumb lmao). I really like the anti-frustration features of having undo and level reset buttons mapped right onto the controller, it let me focus just on the problem solving. Also the girlfriends are A+.
I liked it, a solid puzzle game from what I played! Silly in a fun way while offering fun gameplay to go with it.

Last game I played tonight was Super Debt!
Pretty different to what I usually play, and going in blind made it a surprising experience. I struggled the first few runs but after those few I started to get the hang of it, even making it to the end of the demo by my 4th or 5th run!
Very fast paced twin-stick combat game, time is money and money is your timer, your ammo for every move you make, and your life bar all at once. Visually a very neat game, with enough hints of story that I'm intrigued to press on for more. I'll most likely check out the full game!
Funnily the main gameplay loop reminded me of an itchio game by Kultisti called Curseball that I really really enjoy! I'll take that as a good sign.
While that's all I played today, I did also play another demo earlier this week with a friend, Absolum!
It's an extremely pretty beat-em-up that was very easy to pick up and learn, even as someone with no experience with the genre. Hits are satisfying to land, and I enjoy the variety of each run letting you make different builds for the same character. I'll be going back and doing another run in single-player later to take in the story and atmosphere~
Anyway that's my demo commentary for the time being! Tbh I did play a good number some time ago as well, but just didn't have the time to do my little write-ups, so I am glad to have been able to for these. While games like Absolum get attention, a lot of games go by unseen and I like to try to highlight them, especially games by smaller devs.

Finally sat down to read Vermis I and II by Plastiboo- stories framed as guides for a fake 'game' with horror elements- and absolutely loved them. I adore the visual presentation and the storytelling is really compelling.
Really cool stuff! I look forward to what they works on next~

I'm participating in a discord server rpg "Wayfarers" hosted by EarthnAshes, and a community contest to design ridable mounts has just started so I jumped right in!
I decided to design my entries to account for both the juvenile forms for riding and the massive Colossi forms that can be encountered in the wild. While also accounting for potential form variants (to account for personalization of mount designs by players) and making them engaging in a gamefied format.

My player character Cosoma!
A nervous nelly that finds living on the fringes to be easier, amongst the plants and bugs. It spends much of its time observing and documenting local wildlife and writing detailed notes onto scrolls. While having a preference for the more entomological, Cosoma's ecology familiarity comes to be quite useful when magical disruptions start affecting the behavior of colossi of the island.
