Have you heard never let me go by Kazuo Ishiguro? If yes, was it good :] would you recommend
I HAVE NOT!!! BUT my grandma (who gives me a lot of book recs) said she really enjoyed it. actually i've tried a couple times to read kazuo ishiguro books (the one i'm specifically thinking of rn is remains of the day) and they could not hold my attention for some reason!! so even though ive heard a lot of good things about never let me go, i've not given it a shot!!

YES I READ IT IN HIGH SCHOOL AND I HAVE LOVED IT EVER SINCE!!! its been so long that most of the story has left my brain at this point but it is so beautifully written and struck such a deep emotional chord w/ me that it's remained one of my favorites throughout the years!!! it does have incest among other things so i would look up a full list of triggers if that is smth that you want to watch out for

i read house of leaves and LOVEEEEDDDD it but only towards again the last 2/3rds of the book and that was with generously skimming any part that didnβt directly correlate with the navidsonsβ¦ I canβt quite remember exactly where it happens but I do think delial was the turning point where everything suddenly clicked and i started to understand? so to the person who ordered it, if you arenβt enjoying a part of the book honestly just skip it because not everything is crucial to the plot!!
to me the scariest thing was how the book becomes so immersive and tricks you with having to concentrate to read and make sense of it, and then challenges your perception of both the book and reality!! all together I would give it a 4/10 for content but a 6/10 for the experience itself
YES I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT U MEAN!! the parts with johnny rly aggravated me sometimes BUT ! i am glad that i read them all in depth bc in the end HE is what rly moved me about the book.
BUT I AGREE VERY MUCH the part abt delial was def a turning point. AND ITS TRUE not everything is crucial to the plot - i think there's a lot of misdirection and leading down sort of pointless avenues just in order to mimic what the characters themselves are stuck in . there's a point where the book also hints that u shouldnt get too involved in the side stuff or else you'll get lost & confused.
I AGREE!!! the content was not the best imo, i didn't like the writing, but in the end it was the experience & the thoughts it provoked that made it for me!!

OKLAY... O K A Y ............I JUST FINISHED IT AND I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY!!!!
literally from abt this point (~400pgs) on my perspective on the book completely changed. if i had stopped at that point i would have given it probably two stars but i am so glad i saw it through to the end because i am gonna end it with 4/5 stars.
Is house of leaves not goodπ just ordered that shit a few days ago
OMG i was just coming on here to update.
im 402 pages in. loving it at times and hating it at times. generally i find it to kind of be exhausting and a slog. to me it isn't really scary at all, but it is very sad. that being said ! ! ! it covers a lot of rly fascinating themes that resonate with me so i am sticking it out!!!
