My mom periodically sends me boxes of my stuff from high school, because she still has it all in her possession. This “Lolita Handbook” was in with one of the boxes I got today. It’s the cutest thing, and such a great peek at what Lolita was like in 2007, the late old school days. Some of those Metamorphose printouts are from 2004!

This was basically a Pinterest board pre-Pinterest…

I actually made candle holders based off those instructions!

I made a matching box-handbag for what is currently my favorite dress that I own. This is one of two boxes I have been working on and I’ll post the other when it’s finished. It’s kind of an elaboration on the 1970’s craft trend of making cigar box purses but using nicer materials and executing better craftsmanship. I wanted this box to look like a carrying case for some kind of artifact. The velveteen was lightly bleached to match the odd color of this dress and the ornamentation has freshwater pearls and a garnet at the center of the cross. You can buy the unfinished box and dresser handle at hobby lobby. I had the box sitting around for years after a failed decoration attempt and finally figured out what to do with it. I might add more ornamentation around the inside of the mirror still, but nothing strikes me at the moment.
