Every year Father’s Day had been a nightmare for Hank after Cole died. But this year it was different. This year Hank had someone to take care of. He wasn’t a replacement, no one could replace Cole, he was another son who needed someone by his side. Some weird android sent by Cyberlife who had become his family.

Picture this
Connor is at Hank’s. It is either around the Fourth of July or around New Years. Either way people are being a little crazy and firing off whatever fire works they can, illegals or not.
Now the two men are unphased completely, that is until Connor realizes that Sumo is losing it, crying, panting, hiding under tables. Automatically concerned he turns to Hank “Lieut- Hank. There seems to be some thing wrong with Sumo”
A deep frown graces Hank’s features with a hint of saddness “yeah. Sumo gets like this every time this year. The fireworks scare him. I just don’t know what I can do though! I’ve tried everything. I don’t like giving him medicines that make him sick. But I... I can barely stand to see him like this” Hank would crouch by the dog and pet him in an attempt of comfort.
Then slowly Connor would crouch beside him, then lower himself completely till he was sitting on the floor in front of Sumo.
He would open his arms and Sumo would crowd into his lap, thinking he was much smaller than he actually was. And Connor would wrap his arms, right, around the massif fur, and coo comfortingly on to the tops of his head
“It’s ok to be afraid Sumo, we are here” and Hank would smile and stand, glad for the friend who is more like a son.
And Sumo, curled in Connors lap, would eventually drift in to sleep

For all I wish winter happiness!! this is a Christmas fic. @shadows-echoes I hope you like this! Also stay tuned for a special announcement later. I hope this is ok! Enjoy!
Connor x Reader
Music thrummed through the bullpen, red and green streamers hung haphazardly on the walls. Many were chatting and milling around, the bowl of eggnog had been spiked, as expected, but you stood against the wall, watching the activity with a water in your hand. It was Christmas Eve, everyone was in good spirits, you smiled looking at your watch, then to Hank who also had a water in his hand.
No one asked why he didn’t have a bottle of cheer, but you knew. You could only hope that a certain someone wouldn't ask you why you were fidgeting. Speaking of which, your gaze now wandered over to the android in question. He was speaking to Gavin, asking about the genetics it would take to create a reindeer with a glowing nose or if the reindeer was exposed to radiation at an early age. Gavin, clearly beginning to become annoyed, was actually getting better. Well, at least he was trying since the revolution. He could still be a prick, but he was better than before. Even now that it was Christmas time, he was trying to keep his patience.
You smiled softly, looking over at Hank again, he met your eye and gave a solemn nod, then turned to leave, going to his car. Giddiness etched in your stomach, began to grow. This had become quite the tradition for you and Hank every year at Christmas. You slipped out of the Department unnoticed and followed him to your car, which was parked right next to his “Do you think any one saw us?” You opened the trunk of your large car, pulling out a hanging bag with a red suit inside, handing it off to the scoffing man beside you.
“I don’t know how you convince me to do this every year.” You only laughed, grabbing your own hanging bag with a green out fit inside “oh shut up, you love this.” He only looked away, blush hidden behind his scruffy white beard. you moved away and behind your van, starting to change into the elf costume you had, complete with ears. Once you were sure Hank was done you came back around, smiling wide at the view of Hank in a Santa Clause outfit. A shrill of excitement escaped your lips “I’m so happy we do this!” You tossed him your keys, shutting up the back of the van.
He couldn’t help but chuckle and shake his head “Alright we should get going if-” the sound of footsteps approaching caught both of your attentions, soon you were greeted by Connor’s voice, calling out for the two of you. Your head snapped to Hank’s “Hurry!” The two of you scrambled into your van, starting the engine and screeching out of the parking lot, leaving behind a confused and dejected android. You blew out a puff of breath “That was close” “Too close” was Hank’s grumbled reply.
You settled into your seat, the green elf outfit was soft. Guilt from the look on Connor’s face stung within you, but was soon ebbed away as you smiled once more, remembering your task. The back of your van was filled with different sized coats, hats, scarves and gloves. There were also several children’s toys wrapped in colorful bright paper, and pre-made meals kept warm in aluminum containers, condensation on top of the clear lids.
You had started doing this a few years ago, convincing Hank to join you in your escapades. You stopped at the first house, opening the back door of the van while Hank went and knocked on the front door. You soon joined him, a package, meal, and warm clothes. you smiled wide as Hank let out a gruff ‘Ho Ho Ho’.
This was a common occurrence. Every year you would take your Christmas bonus and buy gifts and ingredients and handed them out anonymously to those who needed it every year. The best part was that it was anonymous. The families only knew Hank and you as ‘Santa’ and ‘Santa’s elf’. You would drop a gift off each house that had a child and a meal went to everyone. Of course you couldn’t cover all of Detroit, which made you frown, but you were able to help. You couldn’t remember exactly how it started.
You smiled at Hank as he drove, almost done with your gift giving. Of course, no one at the DPD could know. “Hank, you know I always wondered why you decided to help me with this” His eyes flash to you then back to the road . He only shrugged and you accepted it. With his help, you could do more than what you used it. You looked out the window. “I wonder what Connor was wanting before we let... I feel bad that we just left him standing there.” The man next to you smiled, crinkling around his eyes “I think he’ll be alright.” a shirt silence “He’s a good kid” You scoffed, rolling your eyes at him, glad the van was too dark to see your blush “He’s not a kid Hank. He’s...” you smiled “He’s really great.”
“You like him.” you gave a nervous laugh, it wasn’t a question, just a blunt statement. You cleared your throat, looking askance “Yeah, I do” “You should tell him” “What?!” your head snapped to face him for the second time that night “Tell him” he shrugged, acting like it wasn’t a big deal. You stammered, gobsmacked “Well.. I can’t... I just” you blew out a puff of air “I don’t think I can” nerves coiled in your guts at the mere thought of it, possibilities of rejection took the place of the sugarplums faeries that danced in your head. You looked away, chewing your bottom lip.
You finished up delivering packages, driving back to the now mostly empty lot, Hank pulled the van back to it’s spot, next to his clunker. You hopped out the car, going to the back to grab the bags for your costumes, freezing solid at the sound of someone clearing their throat right behind you. Spinning, on your heel you came nose to chest with none other than Connor. you gasped “c-Connor! what are you doing here?”
Hank came around, leaning against the van to watch the scene unfold. “I could ask the same of you two. I came out to see if everything was alright, I noticed the two of you left early. When I came to check, you drove off as if you were avoiding me. What..” his gaze shifted between you and Hank, now noticing the costumes “What is going on?” you looked at Hank, looking for help, he simply shrugged. “I... can’t tell you” Connors' eyebrows twitched up in surprise“Need I remind you that I am one of the most advanced models made for detective work.”
You smiled shaking your head “Connor how could I forget? I just...” He gave you puppy eyes and you melted completely “You can not tell anyone” You then began to explain everything, Hank helping along the way, Connor’s smile growing wider and wider “So you see.. you can’t tell anyone, it’s sort of ‘Santa’s secret’” you breathed deeply, winded from your rant-like explanation. He simply looked down at you, joy in his eyes your name slipped from his lips as he stared at “That’s amazing” you blushed, laughing awkwardly
You now only registered how close the two of you were standing. You went to move away, stopping when you heard Hank say your name. Your eyes widened as you saw your friend with his arm extended above the both of your heads , Looking up you saw that Hank had a small plastic sprig of mistletoe that he found in the back of your van. His smirk was devilish as you looked at Connor, your face reddening. “Hank what are you doi-Mff!!” You were cut off by lips crashing into yours, surprisingly warm and soft.
You closed your eyes, pressing yourself into him kissing back. You gripped the front of his jacket, to ground you and keep you from falling as you kissed. His hands enveloped your waist as you hold you to him. You were vaguely aware of Hank laughing and shutting the back of your van. Slowly you pulled away, gasping softly “Con...” His eyes still closed, pressing his forehead against yours “You’ve no idea how long I’ve been wanting to kiss you” The small interaction warmed your body and left you wanting more. Hank had left right after holding the mistletoe up, the lot silent as you whispered.
You smiled up at the kind android, joy touching your features “I’ve wanted to do that as well” You moved your hand to take his, intertwining the fingers “Merry Christmas, Con” “Merry Christmas Detective” He kissed your temple as the two of you walked back to the van.
Out side snow began to fall, blanketing the world in a fresh blanket of white. Lights shone on the buildings, and everything was merry and bright.

1, 2, 3, 4 here (I hope)
RK900 (Nines) x Reader
Warnings: Swearing, Not as much angst I guess?
Walking into the precinct you were surprised that you didn’t get as many looks as you thought you would. However, you still got looks. You had forgotten the fact that you did wrap things up before fleeing the scene last night. You didn’t want to deal with anyone else’s crap today. You were emotionally drained and hurt emotionally and physically. Your bandaged hands throbbed as a soft reminder of the cuts from the night before.
You turned to your partner, ever silent, though a glimmer seemed to be in his eyes today. Was it admiration? Whatever it was you pushed it to the side. “Hey uh... I’m going to grab a coffee from the break room then we need to get to work. We’ve lost our leads. That warehouse is a dead end now that people know that the police are investigating it. No witnesses or suspects I’m not sure…” Your words died as you watched the android tilt his head in confusion “What is it?” “If I’m not mistaken detective, we do have a suspect”
You followed him to the holding cells, eyes widening in surprise as you looked through the glass wall at a man who was sleeping fitfully on the hard bench.” Nines, isn’t that the man who shot you? I thought you killed him” honesty and shock lined your voice. He looked at you from the corner of his eye and smirked. “While I made be a deadly force, I thought it best to only incapacitate the suspect, not kill” He was so smug so proud of the fact that he was able to not only save you, but also make it so that your case, and his mission, could go on without any more difficulties. This was a break in the case, which could be huge, especially if the suspect cooperated. You were taken back by his show of emotions, unaware of the smile now breaking across your face. You patted his arm “Great job Nines! This is perfect!” Your hand rested on his arm, once you realized it you pulled away. That was the second time this has happened today.
You cleared your throat, making your face neutral once more “good job, really. Let’s get him in to interrogation.” You walked off, going to prepare things and he watched you leave. ^Software Instability he blinked away the words, not caring for them at the moment. He had done a good job.
The two of you now stood, looking into the interrogation room through the glass window, watching the battered suspect. In this light it was easier to see the extensive wounds that marred his face. Swollen patches of stippled dark purple surrounded his eye and his nose was definitely broken. “Damn you really did a number on him” You kept your eye on the man through the glass. Fidgeting and aggressive, he was going through withdrawal. You tilted your head towards Nines’ direction “You wanna take care of the questioning?” your eyes finally moved to the droid standing by you.
He met your gaze steadily and gave a curt nod, moving to enter interrogation. You watched, with folded arms as your partner entered the room, his demeanor changing drastically from the one he had previously. His jaw was set, and his movements were fluid. You watched as he began his interrogation. “Are you aware that you were trespassing when entering the ware house? Plus, we not only found you with drugs on your person but also an unregistered weapon. These charges amount to a very long time” “Fuck off tin-cop! Fuckin’ ‘droid sent in here”. The suspect trembled feverishly. Withdrawal was a bitch and only made his aggravation worse as he tugged against the cuffs that held him to the table. Nines’ jaw ticked in irritation, lowering his voice to be more threatening. You watched as it went on, back and forth, though Nines kept his cool. Nines leaned forward “Talk and your sentence will be reduced. Though I will enjoy watching you rot in jail after attempting to take my partner’s life” The man in front of him twitched, sneering “Where is your bitch partner? If I were in your place I would-” A flash of red caught your eye but was gone as soon as you saw it “You do not even deserve the chance to be breathing the same air as my partner, and if it were up to me you wouldn’t be able to right now.” He delivered his response so coolly, and evenly. The matter-of-fact tone in his voice was shocking. He didn’t sound angry at all. Just like he was stating a fact. The man in front of him flinched, unnerved. As calmly as he spoke Nines got up and left the room, only to join you behind the glass to stare at the suspect.
Nines crossed his arms as he analyzed the druggie at the table. “He’s not going to talk. His withdrawal is making him less and less cooperative, I tried to get everything I could.” You nodded solemnly “You did a good job in there.” Silence stretched between your contemplation, you crossed your arms over your chest, reflecting his posture. The pad of your thumbs ran over your fingertips in a rehearsed manner, the familiar motions left strange feelings now that your hands were bandaged. You sighed, scratching the back of your neck “Look, I have an idea, but you’re going to have to trust me” He gave you a soft smile “I’ve always trusted you” You returned his gesture genuinely, then left heading towards evidence.
You now approached interrogation, two items in your hand, one in your pocket. This wasn’t ethical at all, but you needed some sort of end to this case. Placing your hand on the scanner, the door slid open with a soft whir. Stepping in you had a blank face and hid the items behind your back. You stood on the other side of the table, watching the man squirm and sneer “Oh now the bitch has come out to play, has she? I’ll tell you what I told your blow-up doll out there. I’m not-” You interrupted him just as Nines did “Shut up. Just shut up alright? Insult me all you want I don’t give a fuck. But you say one bad word about my partner and I’ll make you wish he ended your life last night.” You moved your hand from behind your back to show a small bag of Red Ice and a bag containing a pipe with a deep chamber. The suspect sat up, eyeing the contents hungrily. You set them on the table, tantalizingly far away from the man. “You’re going to tell me what I need to know now, or I’m going to take you with me and make you watch as I pour this shit down the garbage disposal and break this pipe in half.”
You pulled a lighter from your pocket, flicking it to life then extinguishing it repeatedly. You kept eye contact “What’s it going to be? You have five seconds.” Splutters and stammers erupted from the man as his withdrawal and shock made it hard to form proper sentences. Behind the glass Nine’s looked on, impressed that you would go this far, though worried about what may happen if you did give the junkie his toxic release. You impatiently waited for a reply “Three… Two … One alright then” You swipe the contents off the table and began to turn towards the door “N-NO no wait wait! I’ll fuckin squeal just… just let me have some. I need it man I’m a fucking mess. I need it…” He was trembling now, his addiction in control. Turned on your heel, the motion quick. “Talk first”
Resolute in having him talk first words spilled from his lips, revealing everything he know as his eyes darted to the bags in your hand. He gave away that the ware house was a place where people would often get together to get their supplies and would often hang around for them to get high. As the words continued to pour from his lips he revealed that people would know not come back to this location, now that the cops had been spotted, but there was a secondary location, a small house, that not many knew of. This house would manufacture Red Ice every few months. As his confessions ended his words sputtered to a stop “N-now give me what you promised... I gave you everything I know! A-Address and all!” You pursed your lips, leaning over the table, close to the man’s ear “No” you turned, icily and left the room, spews of cursing muffled behind you as the door slid shut. You were greeted by Nines and couldn’t look at him. Swallowing you spoke “Look, I’m not proud of what I just did. But We needed something, anything.” You moved your eyes to his, finding no harsh judgement or reprimanding looks. A tilt of his head, it doesn’t seem predatory now, but what surprised you was the softness of his voice “I imagine, that was difficult for you.” Your eyes dodged his again and you just nodded.
He was standing close, Too close. Figuring Androids just don’t have a sense of personal space. You didn’t mind so much anymore. “Let’s focus on the case now… Worry about me later” You tried to joke, but the smile you gave was tinted with sadness instead of the jovial one you went for. You cleared your throat, moving on “Let’s get this back to evidence and send a medic in there for our ‘friend’.” Sarcasm dripped off the last word “Then we need to get a team together and start a discreet steak-out of this new location. This may be the break we need”
You gave his arm a squeeze with your free hand. That’s the third time today. Giving him an honest smile, you left heading towards Evidence. He didn’t need to look back. He didn’t need to watch you leave. But once his eyes left the place on his jacket where you touched him, that’s exactly what he found himself doing. His eyes drifted down to his own hands, which he now lifted from his sides. His mind, though racing with code and information, was ironically calm. Which he didn’t mind at all

you will not [break]
…
You may bend and twist and fold, but you will not break.
When a fist connects with your cheek. When your head snaps back. When blood fills your mouth and pain rackets through bitten gums.
“Is that the best you got?”
He chuckles, realigns himself before you. Anchors a foot to the ground. “I’m just getting started. Unless you want to tell me where your friend is.”
Connor. The last known deviant. Hidden away within your heart, inside a dusty cellar in the shitty part of town. Run-down buildings. Fire damage. A place Cyberlife would never go.
“Fuck you.”
The thing wearing your lover’s face kicks back your chair. Breath leaves aching lungs as your spine connects with harsh, unforgiving wood.
“All I need is an address.”
He leans over you. Places one foot atop your chest and presses.
“Fuck… you!”
You may — no, will — die here, in an abandoned warehouse where screams are whispers in the wind. But Connor… Connor will be safe. And that’s all that matters.
As he aims the gun at your forehead, you whisper a prayer. Of safety, of forever love, forgiveness,
Connor, I lo—

A taste of Heaven
Angel!Au
Demon!Nines x Angel!reader
Glorious. Simply glorious was the clear blue skies that stretched above you. You loved the skies, though unable to fly. You were a new angel, and while you were grown, your wings were still small and your powers still needed to be developed. You could glide for short distances and that was all you needed for now. It was peaceful. Especially on days like this. You laid with your wings spread out underneath you, the fresh crisp air filled your lungs. This field was vast, usually only used by angels, and could never be found by mortals, which is why you would come out here to meet your friend who had offered to train you.
He was a good friend, one of the few angels you have met up with since becoming an angel yourself. Your friendship started almost immediately after meeting. You smiled, closing your eyes at the memory. Soon a shadow fell over you, blocking the sun. Lazily, you opened your eyes “I should have known I’d find you out here, lounging around” A smile pulled at the corner of your mentor’s mouth. You sat up quickly, grinning with him “Connor! We did have training today did we not?” A soft chuckle. “Yes, we did, however you’re never here this early.” “What can I say? I’m excited for training and it is a beautiful day for it.”
You and Connor looked towards the skies, a breeze made the feathers on your wings ruffle. You stretched them out behind you, feeling the muscles pull. It felt great. The breeze went past you and ruffled the grass and made the trees sway as it went. Connor offered his hand, which you gratefully took, as he helped you up. “Do you remember what we talked about last time?” his words held the happiness of the moment. “I believe so, didn’t you start teaching me about the light energy?” he nodded and looked over at you as you fell in step with him “And?” “and sometimes it helps to get a running start when flying, or another angel can drop you from the air...” he gave another nod, pleased with your answers
With that, the days’ training commenced. And of course, you were excited for it. You learned that light energy could be used to heal or to hurt. You ran and glided, and generally had fun as you learned new things that would help you on your journey. The sun was now setting the sky on fire as it slowly dipped into its place of slumber. Night was coming and you sat in the grassy meadow with your friend right beside you. Tired and worn, with achy muscles you smiled at the beautiful sight. “Con?” you spoke softly to not ruin the revere of the moment, “Do you think I’ll get a human to watch over anytime soon?”
He didn’t speak, you worried of you were being impatient and needy. He chuckled looking over at you. “I think, if you continue improving the way you are, then you should have your own human in no time, but… Your wings do need to grow. To truly help a mortal you need to be able to fly.” You nodded in quiet acknowledgement. Growth. That could take forever, but you wanted to be able to protect those who need it. To be all you could be. You smiled softly, “Do you think, since I have improved, that I would be able to join you some night as you go to your human?”
He pursed his lips, his gaze drifting to the fading horizon. He wanted you to be safe. He wanted you to stay safe. He also knew that sooner or later you would have to have contact with humans. And demons. He rubbed the back of his neck, his back and wings tense “I suppose, one night every now and then wouldn’t hurt. But you must understand that since you can’t fly yet, you won’t be able to make it back to our domain and you have to do everything I tell you.”
You were overjoyed at his never, knowing that you took a long shot just asking. You wrapped your arms around him, squeezing him tight “Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!!” He laughed shaking his head “You realize I’ll have to carry you, right?” You smiled innocently at him “I don’t mind if you don’t” He shook his head once more, and you smiled ear to ear, enjoying the last minutes of the sun.
It was a few days later when Connor took you to meet his human. Night had just set, and nervous energy was rolling off him, but he kept his word. Him carrying you was slightly awkward as his hands gripped under your arms. You were too excited to care. This would be your first time in the mortal realm and you were delighted and curious. So many questions and scenarios played out in your mind, you could barely focus. You imagined it would be a quiet night.
Landing was easy, and you saw Connor’s mortal for the first time. The man was pulling on an old jacket, grey hair grew to about his jawline and he had a matching short beard. His eyes were blue, deep set with dark circles underneath them. As the first human you’ve ever seen he intrigued you. You got closer, standing front of him, engulfed in curiosity. You had no fear, knowing that he couldn’t see you. “What’s his name?” Connor smiled and watched as you circled this new being “Hank Anderson. He’s 53. A Lieutenant for the Detroit Police Department. A good man. He’s been through a lot in his life. Lost his son and soon after his wife left him as well. He struggles but… he’s still a strong man”
You nodded and reached out to touch him, Connor tensed “I wouldn’t …” you quickly pulled your hand away “Right, sorry” was your sheepish reply. You watched the man leave his home and get into his vehicle. The corner of Connor’s mouth twitched slightly, a twinge of sadness behind the expression. “Where is he going?” you began to follow the angel that followed the man “A bar.” His words were cold, and you didn’t ask for any more.
It wasn’t long till Hank got to his destination, a rundown looking place with neon lights in the windows. Connor placed a hand on your shoulder before you could go in, he seemed tense and suspicious. “I need you to stay out here, just in case. I need to go in there with Hank, but I don’t want any demons coming into this place tonight. They like to stalk places where people are down on their luck because they don’t put up much of a fight.” You swallowed, a new sensation eating at the edges of your heart. Fear. Connor sensed it and gave you a reassuring smile. “Don’t worry, it won’t be hard. Just don’t talk to them and focus your energy around you, in a barrier. Like I taught you remember?”
You took a deep breath, closing your eyes and calming yourself. When you opened them once more a quiet determination burned behind them. You gave a single nod and with that you friend went into the building, unnoticed. You turned with your back against the door and spread your wings out. You breathed deeply, focusing your energy to surround yourself. It was warm, like the sun. You felt it buzzing around you and inside of you. No one else could see it, but they would feel it if they walked through. You watched the quiet streets content with the peace that seemed to inhabit it.
You stood there, silence in every corner. It had been a while, you were surprised at how long this mortal had been in this place. And while you didn’t quite understand this building’s purpose, you knew that it could become dangerous should anything happen. However, this didn’t stop you from closing your eyes and just enjoying the moment you had created. This was soon disrupted. Your eyes shot open at the smell of sulfur, unease jumped in your stomach. Your eyes darted here and there, looking for the new presence that made the air unsettled. You also tried to keep your focus on your energy at the same time. Finally, your eyes settled on a tall figure, leaning against a nearby lamppost, standing in the shadow. He was wearing a black shirt with a high collar and was staring straight at you. His silver-silted eyes glinted through the darkness, any mortal would shiver. His horns seemed deadly against the well-maintained hair, except for a fly away strand. Movement behind him gave hint of massive black, leathery wings.
The two of you stood, staring each other down. You almost dared him to make a move, but you weren’t sure what you would do if he did. Maybe he would just go away? A moment of morbid curiosity struck you, and you tried to swallow it away. More. I want to know mo- Where did these thoughts come from? And so suddenly? It wasn’t right, surely. These thoughts should have never wormed their way into your head, and they should not have stayed. Why did you want to know more? He then did something that took you off guard. He smiled. No, grinned, and bared his sharp teeth at you. It made your stomach flip, and you uncomfortable. Clinching your jaw, you glared at him. He moved, with alarming grace, from the light pole he was leaning against and moved to where he was standing two or three feet in front of you, your energy filling half the space between you two.
He smirked, a devilish thing to see “Well, hello there little bird. Are you lost?” patronizing, teasing, you weren’t going to fall for it. “I’m- “you cut yourself off, remembering not to speak to him-it. This only encouraged him, his smirk changed softly, subtly. It was entrancing almost. Instead of looking at him, you looked past him. Figuring it was better. He moved, till he was right in front of your energy, raising his hand and pressed against the barrier. He only tightened his smirk at the pain, refusing to let it show “My, this is quite the wall you got up, not the strongest ever. But what can one expect from a little bird like you?” You glared back at him and focused your energy to push him back. He only stepped back once.
He kept his eyes on you, hungry. You were still unsure what to do, what would happen if he would attack? He was right. You couldn’t hold this up if he were to seriously attack you. The curiosity from before d=struck you again, causing you to frown ever so slightly. Though this was picked up by the demon. “Am I your first demon, little bird?” Pride filled his voice and he remained smug. Irritation began to poke at you “I have a name...” He was there in front of your energy in the blink of an eye. It surprised you, caught you off guard, causing the barrier to shrink back. He took advantage of the stepping forward. You began to panic, trying to keep it up and him away. But he would inch closer with every falter you did. Keeping it steady, you remained calm on the outside. “I’m no fool to give a demon my name.” He tilted his head, purely predatory. “Smart little bird”
He was close, too close. You wanted him to step back or leave. A battle to keep the energy going raged inside you, but you were growing weak, and he knew it. “You intrigue me actually. What is a fledgling like you doing in the mortal realm? Don’t they know you could get hurt? Gobbled up and taken away?” He chuckled, dark and deep. The corner of his smirk twitched, and he raised his hand once more. Darkness seeped from his open palm and began to push against the barrier you had set up. Eyes wide, your hands flew up, trying, fighting against his force. He wasn’t even trying, and you tried to push back. Your energy began to shrink and then it shattered. You didn’t think that was possible and took a step back in shock as he advanced. You swallowed and moved in front of him, trying to make yourself tall, though you didn’t even make it to his chin. Fear had gently set up in your stomach, making it roll at the proximity the two of you held. He simply looked down at you, smirking. The slit pupils of his eyes expanded slightly, and his wings began to unfurl. They were massive, leathery wings that blocked out the light from the street lamps, and effectively trapped you in.
A sharp gasp pulled from you as he grasped your chin in a tight grip, making you look at him as his face drew near to yours. His breath fanned over your face “You intrigue me little bird. So full of innocence, it’s delectable. Would you like me to fix that for you?” a smirk from him “You may be innocent and curious, but I can tell that you have hunger. I can help with that” He grinned again, so smug his sharp teeth close to your ear. You were frozen, couldn’t move as his teeth gently scraped across the shell of your ear “Would you like that little bird?” You swallowed, didn’t like how true his words rang. Moving quickly, he stepped away, smirking all the while. At that same moment, Connor came out of the bar, seemingly hurried. A snarl came from the demon in front of him and Connor replied with his own deep growl. It made your bones rattle and the air was soon charged with a new type of energy, seemingly lighter than before but more dangerous. You were now behind Connor as he stood in front of you, ready to attack. The demon stood in the street. “Hello brother. I should have known that you were here. Being a little careless, aren’t we? Taking a fledgling out with you?” His taunting did nothing to provoke Connor, though shock coursed through you at the news of an angel with a demon brother.
“Connor… he’s your brother?!” Soft hints of betrayal and skirted around the edge of your words, though he refused to look at you, keeping an eye on the threat in front of him. A dark chuckle came from the being in the streets as he now addressed you, apparently having fun with his little game “Oh little bird, you should ask him how demons are made” his words became pointed and sharp as he glared at his sibling “He’s not telling you all you should know” With that, he vanished, leaving behind the distinct smell of sulfur and you with more questions. With his few words, he was able to make you question things you had never even thought of before. But who could you trust? Him? Or Connor?
