Cynthia’s b-side on the single of Those Were The Days. This track originally written and recorded by Chris Norman, who also sings on this track. Cynthia again, sounds absolutely beautiful.

John Lennon Appreciation Month – Third Week
What’s your favourite friendship and/or relationship?
Cynthia and John’s relationship was always fascinating and admirable to me. Even if their story ended quite bitterly,  all before that, their love was something special. The way cynthia always liked to remember of him, and that this ‘love’, stayed with her long after, the two parted their ways. There was a masterpost about all the sweetest moments between them, and that’s the one i like to think of them, putting apart all the bad things, because no matter what happened, their love was sincere.

I’ve recently obtained a physical CD of Cynthia’s ‘Those Were The Days’, there is a B side to said single, which hasn’t been uploaded anywhere. Would anybody like it if I uploaded it somewhere?

It’s hard to believe these photos sat in a shoe box in my closet for almost forty years! I especially love the ones of Cynthia. I think George or I took most of them. Such a lovely memory. Rishikesh, 1968

I need to get this rant off my chest:
How on Earth does someone get Lillian as Cynthia Lennon’s middle name??? Many areas, mostly sites that can be altered by anybody (Wikipedia, imdb.com) put Cynthia’s full name as Cynthia Lillian Powell. When she died, a few news outlets actually fell for it, reporting her so called full name. I know where Lillian came from: her mother. But someone just inserted it in.
THERE IS NO OFFICIAL PROOF!!!!! I would think Cynthia herself would say something? There’s no mention of having a middle name in neither books, A Twist of Lennon and John. There’s no mention of it in her 6 part Hello! magazine series about her life with John. They all said the same thing: “I was born Cynthia Powell…” Her make-believe middle name does not show up in any love letters written by John. If he included his own middle name, wouldn’t John do the same for Cynthia? Nor does this concoction middle name claim shows up on her marriage certificate to John. John Winston Lennon, check… Cynthia Powell yes… So, where is Lillian??? I’ll tell you where: NO WHERE! John didn’t like his middle name but he didn’t hide it either. Unfortunately this has gotten out of control! It’s sad that one error can whip up into reality.
It’s Cynthia Powell. Not Cynthia Lillian Powell.
Find me official proof and I will be more than happy to delete this post with apologies.

MO & CYN’S FRIENDSHIP - 1963-1994
[Far from being a shy little thing, Maureen was talkative, full of laughter and great fun : we liked her enormously and thought she was good for Ringo]
[All of the Beatles’ women got on with each other, but Maureen, who was one of the most down-to-earth, honest people I ever knew, became my closest friend. After their son Zak was born, she and I used to go up to Knightsbridge to shop, then stop for lunch in a smart little bistro. We’d buy cute little outfits for our sons and we were always on the lookout for something different or special for the men. We loved to surprise them with a psychedelic shirt or a piece of ethnic jewellery. John always loved prezzies, as he called them. No matter how small they were, he’d be delighted.]
[We often went over to their house and hung out with them, it was always party time at the Starkeys. Ringo was gregarious and fun-loving, a clown and a joker with an infectious laugh. Together, he and Maureen made an irresistible double act, both extrovert and uninhibited. Ringo and John would race the go-karts or play pool while Maureen and I chatted over a cup of tea or took Zak and Julian for a walk.]

Four of my all time favourite photos of Cynthia and Julian. I love the smile on her face whenever she’s photographed with him.
