Woohoo, one step closer to finishing this fanfic. Hardest part is finding time for beta reads (thanks, hubster), and tbh, I’ve been focusing super hard on my original works. But I haven’t forgotten about it! And one of these days, I’ll finish the Deep Fried Drinks epilogue I’m 80% done with. (This is why I didn’t split projects for the longest time--and I was so right about myself LOL)

Anyway, if anyone wants to read melodrama--enjoy!

Chapter 3 of Sun Shining On Rain is up

Excerpt from Chapter 3:

She thought it was impossible. When she had walked through the club door, she thought of Tarth in her mind’s eye before traveling… but here he stood, directly next to her… in Tarth. Worse yet, he didn’t move away or leave her alone. Most people found her boring, ugly or both. He stood next to her as if he wanted to remain by her side. No one, not even reapers, associated with her. When she was human, during the War of the Five Kings, people socially isolated her—especially young men like Jaime. People only showed interest in her if she was of enough value to them.

I just had to post the forbidden love short story I wrote for JB: Reaching For Escape

Summary: Brienne is married to King Joffrey after her and Jaime's arrival to King's Landing. As a new queen, she battles within herself between duty and her heart. When Joffrey demands consummation, Brienne decides when and how to fight back.

Here’s a snippet 

The king slurped his wine. His plate had been filled again. He ate more when he noticed he had grown taller, but Brienne knew he would never pass her.

His mother quietly drank from her goblet, filled thrice. Dornish sultanas were delicately plucked and set on her plate, but she hardly nibbled at anything bigger. Her eyes never stopped looking, and once Tyrion, Tywin and Tommen were gone on travels, Cersei studied Brienne more frequently. Jaime sat near and across the table. Brienne often saw him in the mornings, a festering reminder how she became queen. His plate remained empty. He wore handsome white and gold armor.

“Eat,” Cersei said. Her emerald jewelry and crimson gown sparkled, even in candlelight.

Brienne glanced at the king, who ignored both of them. He wore dozens of sapphires to match the heavy blue wool on his back. His face was all scowls.

Still, no one spoke. Brienne was half-tempted to ask Cersei if the remaining food could be given to the hungry, but she wasn’t the king. “I’m afraid I’m not hungry,” Brienne said.

“I know a queen must maintain everyone’s envy,” Cersei said, curdling her smile at Brienne. “I was talking to my brother.”

Feeling Cersei’s eyes, Brienne said nothing and looked at her plate. There was a pause. She imagined Jaime gave his sister a look, because he did not quip. He used to.

Halfway across the table, Brienne noticed Jaime’s hands, one of skin and one of metal, reach for bread. Brienne’s eyes followed, and Cersei failed to hide her glare at his metal hand.

The bread and golden hand clanged on his plate, but he made no move to eat. Brienne looked up, and his eyes met hers.

“Cow,” the king said to Brienne.

Jaime closed his eyes.

Writing Update

Next chapters of the JB Goblin AU is mid-beta reading. Hopefully I can post a couple chapters this weekend!

I’m more than halfway done writing a Love is Blind AU epilogue for Deep Fried Drinks. Jaime is confronted by his worst fear: cats.

I’m editing (woohoo) a forbidden love oneshot that I absolutely ADORE, which says a lot because I was scared to write it. I’m super excited to edit it, have it beta read and publish it asap. It’s angsty canon divergence, but damn, do those 8k of words hit so many buttons of mine: feminism, oaths, pining, canon easter eggs, whiny teenage boys who think they’re hot shit but they ain’t, Brienne being a badass, etc.

Here are the first two paragraphs, second draft:

Brienne wasn’t a great queen. Brienne the Beauty they called her. Her husband, King Joffrey, named her the Maid Queen. He had made it clear as day that he had no interest in claiming his rights as husband. Instead, the king abused her daily with harsh words and mockery. He poured hot wine over her head in the Great Hall once. The humiliation stung. He said he wanted to hear her wail, but Brienne never did. 

She still had not adjusted to her new title, and doubted she ever would. Everyone hated her, it seemed, including the one person she thought she earned trust from… Jaime. When they had arrived to King’s Landing, he locked her in a cell tower. Imprisonment was better than this. By the look of the kingsguard, including Loras, they pitied her. Brienne once held hope Jaime cared for her, after everything he had done to protect her. Loras had said Jaime mentioned her honor. But since the mention of Brienne’s betrothal to the king and her marriage, Jaime gave Brienne little more than a few stares or eye contact.

Also, I’m starting to write my own work in hopes of publishing them someday. I have one novel (possible trilogy) on my mind and many, many short stories to experiment with. Most of them are very difficult to adapt into JB fanfic, which is probably for the better lol. BUT I love this community and will likely always have ideas and motivation for fanfic. <3

Chapter 2 is posted!

I tried my best to write a 19 year old guy's inner dialogue. I might have gone crazy from it.

The more I read this fic, the less I like it. But it did get me through my post partum depression and struggle with my mother's dementia. So I guess it's a win overall, no matter how bad it is.

Phew. It took me over a year to write, but I’m ready to start posting it!

Summary: As a cursed and immortal goddess, lonely Brienne lives in modern Westeros. The only way to end her life is for her fated groom, Jaime, to pull out the magical sword buried in her chest. Their fates intertwine, and she’s reminded why life is worth living.

Short Story Complete

I finished a short story / oneshot! 8k words.

It’s part of my forbidden love series for when I get in an angsty mood. If you like angst and the forbidden love trope, I think you’ll enjoy it. It’s basically a big what-if story, so an alt-canon AU!

Summary: Married to the king, Brienne debates between her duty and her heart.

Yep, Brienne is married to Joffrey. What would go wrong?

Lol hopefully I’ll have it up within a week.

Writing Update

So many projects going on!

1) Fantasy AU / Goblin JB AU / Sun Shining On Rain

I almost have the first half ready for beta reads. This is a novel, so it’s been taking me a while. So I might post it within a couple weeks? Especially if I can’t find a beta reader other than my husband, but lol that’s okay! I’ve been itching to get this story out!

2) Love Is Blind AU / Deep Fried Drinks

An epilogue-ish is coming! I’ve plotted out scenes to show Jaime and Brienne a couple years after the last chapter of Deep Fried Drinks! Jaime needs to come full circle and accept cats as overlords and cute animals.

3) Sci-Fi AUs

So, I’ve decided, writing fantasy isn’t for me, at least right now. Turns out I’m a bit too scientific, who would have thought. But sci-fi? I have SO many ideas, most of them original short stories. I might shoot myself in the foot later for morphing these ideas into JB stories (I’ll obviously have to take them down if they get published, big if) and I hope people will enjoy Jaime and Brienne exploring the boundaries of science!

My first idea, and I’ve plotted this out already, is that Brienne and Jaime (and others) are scientists in a biosphere on Mars. The real cool part is that I live near the ACTUAL Biosphere 2, so I’m doing legit research for this short story. Brienne will be a microbiologist and Jaime will be an astroecologist--just similar enough to get into our favorite moral debates. Oh, and the oxygen is decreasing while they’re locked in the biosphere. Dun dun dun. I’m working on this piece right after I finish the Deep Fried Drinks chapter.

4) Forbidden Love Oneshots

This one’s inspired by Fleabag (TV), where I finally found a forbidden love trope handled well (stakes, motivation, tension, respect, etc.) Anyway, I love the trope so much that I figured, hey, I want to try to take a stab at this trope again myself.

So I have a list of seven scenarios to try out whenever I get into an angsty mood. Most of them are canon AUs. No idea when they’ll come out.

I finished Chapter 12 of my JB Goblin AU fic! It has 4919 words. After Chapter 13, it’s complete!!

I really think this is one of my weaker stories, but hey, I’m having fun trying to save it without losing my mind. I really should just scrap it and start over, but lol, nah.

ANYWAY, the story is based in winter mostly, so I’d love to get it published soon.

Jaime x Brienne Goblin Fantasy AU Update

It’s not good. LOL. I’ve scrapped thousands of useless words already. Apparently, writing as a pantser writer (when I’m really more of a plotter) with post partum depression/anxiety DID NOT work well haha. It’s a great lesson to learn, tbh. At least it kept me writing during a difficult year.

I’m trying to fix this fic with edits. Big edits. Not hardly enough, but hopefully people will still enjoy it. That’s the point!

So anyway, y’all have been warned that this next fic is not nearly my best. But I’m too stubborn to let it die without a fight. If I grow enough courage, I’ll ask for beta reading help within a week? EEEEK.
