i remember seeing that therian meme when it was popular—the one everyone’s seen: “on all levels but physical, i am a wolf”. and i remember seeing it for the first time and thinking hey, they’re just like me! it resonated with me on a deeply personal level, like i’d finally found someone who could describe what i was feeling.

and then i remember opening the comments.

all it ever garnered was scorn, hate, ridicule. and i remember being so utterly confused as to why. what exactly was so wrong about what she said? what exactly was worthy of ridicule? i didn’t get it. and i remember for so long i never told anyone how much that meme meant to me, because for everyone else, that’s all it was—a meme.

and now i’m here. and i’m wholly, openly, loudly a wolf & dog.

this is literally my experience to a T (except i’m not transmasc). i don’t even have gender dysphoria but i’m absolutely terrified of pregnancy, which is why i would get an abortion SO FAST if i ever became pregnant. i also have a cis man partner who wants kids but i’ve told him multiple times: you’re getting them from somewhere else. find a surrogate. adopt. it won’t be my kid, it’ll be yours. the idea of being pregnant, childbirth, and breastfeeding would be inherently traumatic, and i fear i would never recover. genuinely. i am still traumatized from my IUD insertion. i can’t even imagine, and i don’t want to. and i would resent them for it. i would want nothing to do with my hypothetical newborn infant because in my mind it is the cause of all of my pain and suffering

Is tokophobia common among transmasc and nonbinary people? To me, the concept of pregnancy, giving birth, and breastfeeding is an actual body horror scenario. I think part of it may be gender dysphoria-related, but I also have a legitimate phobia of pregnancy. The mere thought of my stomach and chest swelling up is enough to make me feel physically ill. My partner (who's a cis man) really wants biological kids one day, but I'm afraid if I brought kids into the world, I wouldn't be able to give them the love they deserve and may even end up resenting them through no fault of their own just because of the trauma of pregnancy and childbirth, as awful as that sounds. Can anyone relate?

If you don't want your own biological children you don't have to give birth to them.

That's your choice not your partner's.

A not-so-friendly reminder to stop applying human concepts and morals to animals.

They have no concept of the human idea of "freedom" no matter how much you keep saying it. No concept of laws or right and wrong. No, that animal isn't "evil" you're just ascribing morals to a creature that has no idea what evil even is.

Projecting any of this onto an animal is just anthropomorphism, which is dangerous in so many ways.

And don't get me started on so called "animal rights activists", projecting their own wants onto the animals, deciding they know what they need. Because of course they do. "If I want it it's something this animal wants as well." Can you not hear yourself? God just stop.

Animals are sentient and intelligent creatures. Clever in ways humans cannot understand. Just as they cannot understand human concepts.

Mildly annoying thing I've noticed: when someone says "not all nonbinary people are transmasc or transfem", a lot of well-meaning folks go "yeah! transneutral nonbinary people are valid too!" and it's like. thank you for the attempt but there are also nonbinary people who are not that, either. have we considered the somewhat controversial position of just acknowledging, including, and supporting nonbinary people regardless of how else they choose to describe their gender or transition? because right now it seems like you're only able to accept nonbinary people if you get to expand the latest binary to a trinary.

Alterhuman Neurodivergence Survey

We've been aware of overlaps between the neurodivergent and alterhuman communities. The purpose of this survey is to get a rough estimate of how big that overlap is (at least in online spaces). The purpose of this survey is NOT to make claims about the relationship between neurodivergence and alterhumanity.

I acknowledge that the scope of this survey may be limited and that because of this the results may not represent the alterhuman community as a whole, but gathering information about alterhumanity can help us to understand it better.

Recently realized that my gender and my dogness are inherently entwined, like. I do not care or recognize my gender in the same way that bio dogs are unaware of their gender / don’t care about it. I’ve decided the term doggender suits me better than anything else :0) I think if anyone irl asks I’ll just continue to say nonbinary, since I’m beneath that umbrella, but in reality my gender is just. Dog. And that is the only word I can use to describe it LoL
