Some backstory set up for my Wizarding World (Harry Potter) AU that I have been working on since… May? Adding some liberties by way of Rocks & Teach with the more recent chapters, but I really like the set up.
Roger, Newgate, & Dragon all know each other.
Would Dragon even be Dragon if he wasn’t trying to establish a proper government? While his sights are set mainly on the American system, there are others (fallen under Teach’s rule quietly) that he focuses on as well. Creating a better world is something he truly believes in, & not in the reckless sense that Teach envisions. This causes him to move around quite a lot, with little Luffy in tow. It was inevitable that he would meet would two of the more powerful wizards in this life time.
Newgate made a name for himself early, originally a follower of Rocks before breaking away to focus on what he really wanted in life: Family. Of course, he is still no laughing matter. Often times, he finds himself as a rival to Roger, the two sparring on occasion. When Roger’s temper gets the better of him, Newgate is there to shut it down.
With so much inside information about Rocks & his followers, Newgate is of course priceless. He, Roger, & Dragon all work together outside of the reach of the aurors to bring down this new supposed Dark Wizard that is taking the world by storm.
Teach is the Dark Lord.
The son of Xebec Rocks, though no one knows this. Rocks was a terrifyingly powerful wizard, the worst this world ever knew. His conquests seemed endless, bringing many countries to heel as he overpowered government after government. He was inevitably destroyed by a union between a rogue named Roger & a Brazilian auror named Garp.
As Teach came of age, he also came into power early. Learning from the mistakes of his sire, he saw opportunity in Roger’s seemingly independent status, offering no loyalty to any form of government. That was a powerful wizard & many feared he might turn that magic on them one day should he decide conquest worthwhile. It was easy enough to start framing him for certain tragedies Teach left behind, putting the eyes of the world on him instead of on who they should be. Teach was very good at flying under the radar, passing himself off as nothing more than a bumbling idiot.
Who would ever suspect him, when all he wants to do is travel the world & try all the different types of pie?
This gave him easy access to those previously loyal to Rocks, or those pure blooded individuals who thought they deserved the world rather than hide from non-magical beings. Despite his front, his words were always raw & hit home for many, including the Outlook family- Outlook himself in charge of England’s Department of Aurors, giving Teach the ability to sink his claws into their ministry.
Some say he has giant’s blood in him, due to his incredible size.
Rouge is a squib.
She hails from a family of old, deep magic. They were dragons, but a dying breed thanks to trafficking in the magical world. So much use comes from the bodies or presence of dragons, that Rouge’s family was forced to disappear from their magical world. They integrated with humans instead, albeit being completely illegal for the mix of magical & mundane in American soil after colonization.
It was safer for her family to disappear there & be labeled as No-Maj than continue to be hunted down & harvested for parts. Despite the line being purely magic, Rouge is the first in a long while who seems to have no magic to control from that line, almost as if it skipped her generation. Her parents were perfectly magical themselves, could turn into dragons as well, but she– well, she blends in with the No-Majs a little too well.
By the standards of the American government, her relationship with Roger would be considered highly illegal. Still, they continued to sneak around with each other. Roger couldn’t leave well enough alone, & Rouge– well, she won’t lie, she was smitten. They fell in love, and had Ace… whose existence was also considered highly illegal. Wanting him to have a better life, they moved to Scotland when he was around age 10 & have a home like the Weasley burrow off the Scottish coast.
Newgate is the Headmaster of Hogwarts
This comes in handy, in at least protecting the children. There was no real issue in convincing Rouge & Roger to move closer so Ace would attend, & Dragon soon found himself moving into European territories as well to send Luffy along with them.
With Marco as his Deputy Headmaster, they run the school with a fair hand. Newgate always finds a way to keep order, but he is far more lenient than Marco sometimes. Even so, they (along with many other teachers present like Thatch, Izo, Jozu, etc) are protective over the children they have on school grounds.
When the aurors no doubt come snooping around, hoping to get any sort of lead on Roger or even Dragon by way of Ace & Luffy, Marco or Newgate (or both) are there to quickly shut it down. There is never any fear of something terrible befalling them.

Continuing from my Wizarding World AU.
post with backstory collaboration with @stardustrobin, the Luffy to my Ace
Ace:
(FtM, pre-T)
Slytherin! Originally hailing from the Pacific Northwest. English is his second language! Due to Roger being so high profile, he has grown up most of his life with the eyes of the world on his father, and suspicions of Roger being The Dark Lord. Some bitterness was bred within him, originally towards Roger for what he viewed as complacency towards unfair accusations, then towards the people responsible.
He becomes Captain of his house’s Quidditch team, and a star pupil rising. As far as schoolwork itself? Sabo often tutors him & Luffy. Sometimes it’s a fruitless effort, but they’re close & have fun either way. He also becomes the Tri-Wizard Tournament champion.
Being the star of his house (Deuce describes him as the Sun of Slytherin House), he would of course catch the attention of his fellow housemate: Stelly, who formed an unhealthy & possessive obsession with Ace, wanting to own & control him more than appreciate him.
Ace, being the polite boy that he is, is respectful & keeps bullies off of Stelly for the most part. He constantly rejects gifts & confessions of love from his house mate though.
His patronus is an orca. His boggart transformation was previously aurors, eventually turned to Teach.
Luffy:
(cis fem)
Hufflepuff! Was born in Brazil, but grew up on the road at Dragon’s side. English is her second language. Due to Dragon’s relationship with Newgate & Roger, she met Ace when she was quite young & they have bonded closely. After Dragon settles down in Scotland for sometime to ensure Luffy gets a proper magical education under Newgate’s protection, she gets very close to Sabo & another ravenclaw named Deuce.
She doesn’t quite understand what the title of “Dark Lord” means & openly claims to want to be the Dark Lord for a while, until Ace & Sabo both get snatched up. However, due to her ignorance to the subject, Stelly takes an interest in her as well & quickly comes to regret it when Luffy finds more pleasure in tormenting him than anything else.
Ace can’t exactly protect him from that.
Luffy is the captain of her Quidditch team & doubles as a Seeker. She’s a force to be reckoned with on the field, rivaled (& often spurned) only by Ace.
Her patronus is a ferret. Her boggart transformation is situational & fickle, depending on what’s happening at the time around her due to her fearless nature.
Sabo:
(cis male)
Ravenclaw! It’s rough, growing up in a home full of deatheaters. Outlook himself is head of the Department of Aurors, and all too eager to keep tension focused on Roger & Rouge rather than going after his boss. Because of their careless & abusive nature, Sabo often sneaks out and runs away from home, usually taking refuge with Ace’s family until eventually Roger forces Outlook to give up custody of Sabo and they take him in.
Rouge & Roger were wonderful parents for Sabo, made him feel loved & wanted.
He is not on his house’s quidditch team, focusing more of politics of the magical world & dragonology. Being stuck under the oppressive force of the Dark Lord for so long (he will swear up & down to Roger’s innocence come hell or high water), he wants to bring true justice & liberation to this world, which is what catches Dragon’s eye & eventually leads to a mentorship.
His patronus is a crow. His boggart transformation was his father, eventually turning to Teach with Ace.
Other:
Quidditch games are incredibly hectic when Slytherins go against Hufflepuffs– if only because of just how into it both Ace & Luffy get
There is a high possibility of one or both of them getting into a fight during their matches. If Ace cuts Luffy off from the snitch, she’ll definitely jump onto his broom, throw something at him
They’ll bash into each other, & sometimes end up in a knock down-drag out fight on the field
Stelly doesn’t help, encouraging it from the stands. Luffy will direct her attention to the stands (him, specifically) & try going after him for doing so. She’s stopped by Ace every single time
We support healthy poly relationships here. Deuce, Ace, Luffy, & Sabo all have something going together
Deuce runs the school newspaper, which Sabo actively writes for.
Deuce’s patronus is also an orca, for Ace. He’s open about his relationship & love for his partners though, so no one can make fun of him for it
Luffy was Ace’s “official” date to the Yule Ball, but all four ended up swapping partners periodically throughout the night
Stelly swooped in to steal Ace away temporarily before he was promptly rescued by Sabo. Ace retreated to the Slytherin common room with Sabo after
Ace is friends with the mermaids in the lake, being able to converse with them even
There is never a dull moment with Luffy, especially when she gets paired with Zoro (gryffindor) & Sanji (slytherin). They are serial pranksters & constantly getting in trouble

some more for my Wizarding World AU:
backstory, ASL
Sabo acquired an occamy at some point that he carries with him constantly. She is either hidden away in hiss hat or the hood of his robes, sometimes one of his pockets.
The occamy is affectionately named Silver
Ace has a pet cat named Kotatsu that he brings with him to school
Luffy somehow got her hands on an invisibility cloak
Luffy wears her scarf around her waist like a sash
For Luffy’s first year, she smashed right into the wall next to the portal platform for the Hogwarts Express. Dragon had to walk her through
After that first year, Luffy often accompanied Rouge for boarding and getting to school. She always had a cabin with Sabo, Ace, and Deuce
For their 6th year, Sabo & Ace were the two idiots who drove (crashed) to school in Roger’s enchanted car
Stelly romantically pursues Ace & constantly gets rejected throughout their school life. At some point, his interest branches out to Luffy as well.
She rejects him & ridicules him, so he spreads a rumor around about an intimate night that never actually happened. Luffy hijacks the story to make up all sorts of weird stories about Stelly to ruin his rep instead, including an unsavory story about him having a fetish for toothbrushes
Stelly’s in the school choir & he’s actually really good at it
No one expected that to be a thing, but he does really well & has a lovely voice
Before Stelly’s first performance, he rushed up to Ace with an invite
Ace, being supportive of his House & wanting to encourage Stelly to be himself more, showed up
Stelly took this as a quiet proclamation of love
Ace is none the wiser
After Outlook was forced to relinquish custody of Sabo to the Gol family, he tried to forget about what he considered “wasted” potential. But firmly believing that “pure bloods” were a dying breed, and that his poor son was being corrupted, he made up his mind to kill Rouge (who he believed was a muggle) & take his child back.
But Rouge is not helpless by any means, despite her lack of magic. The night he forced his way into her home, Roger had been away. Ace & Sabo were down by the beach, leaving Rouge alone. When they finally came back inside, Outlook was already dead, beaten down by his own walking cane that was clutched in Rouge’s hands.
Ace got rid of the body. This led to the unfortunate events that brought forth the true identity of the Dark Lord– when Ace & Sabo were snatched up by deatheaters under their boss’ command. Teach assured that their capture was only to make things even with Rouge! An eye for an eye, since she killed one of his best. He would get her where it hurt: Her children.
He even promised a rendezvous with her & Roger, to return the teens. Sabo returned with the side of his face and upper body burned and scarring. Ace was not returned at all.
Teach said he enjoyed him too much.

@elastixheart
He was the undisputed King of the Quidditch field. Each game that found Slytherin facing a challenger, there was no doubt which house would come out the victor. As long as Ace led his team, being the vicious Beater that he was, the house cup would remain in the coils of the snake.
--Much to the chagrin of some fellow students.
Post-Game found the stadium barren of their fellow students, with the exceptions of a few: Ace, who stood on the field with training gear on and his broom clutched in hand; Deuce and Sabo both sat in the stands, peering over the edge; Deuce hardly gave them much attention. Sabo was sparkly eyed, violet gaze fixed on his two lovers.
Then, there was the Hufflepuff who had the red eyed gaze of the Quidditch captain on her.
"Why don’t you just let me train you?” It was a genuine offer, for the moment. Ace couldn’t guarantee that it would stay open for too much longer though. Let her come back with snark! The offer will immediately void.
But... of course he knew she would decline. Luffy was nothing if not proud.

2 for the omega verse asks, any ship of your choice
Omegaverse AU asks // accepting
2) What are the omegas’ habits/rituals during their heats? (Items used in nests, cravings, etc)
Ace– doesn’t like his heats. It’s the worst & he genuinely sees no point to it other than the universe spiting him & making his life all the more difficult. He doesn’t want children, he doesn’t aim to pass on his family line; thus, heats are just a miserable time all around.
He stays on suppressants, despite warnings about possible health risks. Risk of infertility? All the better for him! His suppressants keep the heats away, except for once a year. Because he’s been on them for so long, it’s near impossible to guess when it will hit either, making it all the more frustrating for him.
Luckily, he can usually feel it coming on, giving him a week to prepare. He prefers to lock himself away, not wanting anyone to see the mess he’s reduced to during his heats. However, there are times he’ll spend the two miserable weeks of his heat with Deuce (Beta), Luffy (Alpha), or Sabo (Alpha).
Each of his partners all have their ways of helping him through. Deuce is always gentle, practically worshiping his lover. Sabo likes to tease, edge, make Ace melt. Then there’s Luffy– and she’s as insatiable in the bedroom as she is in the kitchen.
Heaven forbid Sabo & Luffy decide to tag-team him.

Ever since I read “The Science of the Boy named Luffy,” I’ve been in love with the idea of a hybrid omegaverse, modern au setting & I’ve been dabbling with ideas since. I was never really one for omegaverse settings until this too, & then found that it really helps me with trans issues & social commentaries.
I write two different versions of ABO & have mentioned before with crow!Sabo, raccoon!Deuce, border collie!Ace, & ferret!Luffy in a Modern AU setting
Here’s some for my other ABO verse, with a more canon setting.
Ace: Transient Orca! An Omega
Deuce: Pantropical Spotted Dolphin! A Beta
Luffy: Offshore Orca! An Alpha
Sabo: Lemon Shark! An Alpha
queries from POST
2) What are the omegas’ habits/rituals during their heats? (Items used in nests, cravings, etc)
Answered HERE actually!
3) How about the alphas during their ruts? How do they behave/cope?
Sabo very rarely finds himself in a rut. He can count the amount of times he’s fallen prey to it on one hand. This is because of how sexually active he is, & no shortage of omegas on his many missions or even in the Rev base.
The rare times he does find himself in rut are miserable, but Sabo’s been conditioned to withstand. This resistance only lasts so long, but he would never force himself on anyone. He choose to lock himself away before he goes that far.
Luffy finds her rut nothing more than a nuisance. After learning she could avoid it through suppressants, she begged Chopper for a steady supply.
4) How do the characters view people of other dynamics? Do the respective omegas, alphas, and betas have biases/opinions of each other and their nature?
Deuce is not fond of other Alphas. In a sense, he both envies & fears Alphas– but that envy goes only as far as wishing he had an Alpha’s knot for himself. He mostly fears Alphas, thinks them all entitled & aggressive with no respect for personal boundaries or anyone who isn’t an alpha like themselves. He’s bared witness to far too many bad incidents orchestrated by frustrated Alphas, even caught in the crossfires of an angry Alpha catching the scent of Ace being an Omega.
Ace cares very little about status, other than fearing for his own exposure.
Sabo doesn’t care about status; wishes to abolish the current power structure that elevates Alphas & oppresses Omegas. He believes all statuses should have equal opportunity, fights for it even.
Luffy’s rather clueless about the politics of the world. Status means nothing to her, other than frustrating & weird hormonal bullshit she doesn’t want to deal with.
5) Which characters want pups? How do they feel about them?
Sabo loves kids! He definitely doesn’t mind the idea of having kids either, & is definitely guilty of having bastard children spread around the Grand Line/New World. He doesn’t intentionally abandon these pups, he just… doesn’t know about them!
Deuce also loves the idea of pups, but… is content with adopting orphans. Luffy, in his opinion, is not the best candidate for parenting– & Ace doesn’t want children of his own either.
But Ace can’t help adopting little orphans, and Deuce is perfectly alright with helping raise that collection.

No one asked for these but idc
prior omegaverse hcs
Did I ever mention that Teach is also an alpha?
He was good at fronting as Beta, wanting to stay under the radar before his betrayal & rise to power
So, Ace & Luffy are a mated pair. Their relationship is open though, so there’s no mate marks on Ace, but he does always end up smelling like Luffy anyway with how much time they do spend together
Or Deuce, since he considers Deuce another lover.
But Ace never wanted to be marked; he likes his independence
This changes after the lost Duel of Banaro
because up until that point, very few actually knew of Ace’s status: Luffy, Deuce, & Thatch
but a omega now captured by a vicious group of alphas never bodes well
& Ace ended up getting turned in with a mate mark on his neck given by Blackbeard himself
He can’t keep the stench off of him either, after the war. It haunts him
When asked by others, he never confesses to who bit him either
but Teach is very open about having bitten Ace among his territories & supporters
He still wants Ace back too, now that he’s survived the war
so Ace has to dodge bounty hunters, Government supporters, marines, pirates wanting to bring him back to the execution scaffold– or those in support of Teach who want to please the emperor

continued from HERE
He genuinely hadn’t meant to upset her.
"Rely on you?” Well, yes! She was the one who saved his life, back during the war. Everything she had gone through, fought for, had paid off. Luffy proved herself more than worthy, after all. “You’re still my little crybaby, you know that.”

goakxng:
Stelly stands with the pirates help, grinning as he lazily wipes his coat off. The palace was pristine of course, no dirt to be found anywhere, so it was just for show for the king.
The redhead walks with his hands clasped behind his back until they reach his room. Guards or any other servants are sent off as the king closes the door behind them, leaving just them in his massive room.
His coat is removed then and placed on a wall rack. Stelly found more comfort in Ace than he realized in moments like this. He could never call the pirate a friend, like he perhaps could have when they were children– both working towards the common goal of getting Sabo away. They had vastly different reasons, but it all worked out didn’t it?
He was kinder too– behind closed doors, where no one else could see any weakness from their king.
“Undress me– would you?” Even his voice is softer, but– only for Ace. And even if– he likely could help Ace escape, Stelly didn’t want to. He was attached–.
Ace knew that if it were up to Stelly, he would never get out of here. That’s why he wasn’t so reliant on Stelly’s decision making. He just needed a good plan to get himself out of here, and what ever he would do afterward... Until then? He had to distract himself, or he would go mad.
"You can’t undress yourself?”
No, he knew. Stelly preferred to make him do it. And he wouldn’t sour the moment with his own mood. His hands were gentle as they started undoing buttons for the king’s shirt, pulling frills and his cravat away.
He made slow work of disrobing the king, putting on a show for the redhead. Each patch of exposed skin was kissed softly along his chest and upper body. As Ace’s hands slid down to Stelly’s waist, his mouth worked its way up to the king’s neck.
He guided them back to the large bed, sitting Stelly down to make it easier to remove his pants and undergarments.

goakxng:
In the barest of terms, they were master and servant. However– Stelly isn’t sure he would call them that either. He did for status and whatnot, but when they were alone–.
They were something else.
He reaches up for his own neck, feeling where Ace’s hands had been and looks up into red eyes. “You should let me up. And come back to my room with me.” Sally was out on royal business and would be gone.. all day. No one would bother them.. as if anyone would even dare interrupt the king.
He knew what that meant. In his time here, Ace... found comfort in their time together. What else could he do? He might be on the island he grew up on, but this was in no way a Home. Nothing about this castle or the High Town of Goa was welcoming. He felt... trapped, like Sabo before.
This was one of the only reprieves he found.
"Alright...” He slipped away and helped Stelly to his feet.

There’s a very distinct contrast in the way Ace talks about his parents.
He refers to his mother with the word おふくろ/ofukuro, which is a very informal, colloquial word, basically meaning ‘Mom.’ Meanwhile, he refers to his father as 父親/chichioya, which in comparison is a lot more formal and distant, and considerably less personal.
In other words: he talks as if he’s close to his mother, but not his father.
(And then, of course, he refers to Whitebeard as オヤジ/oyaji, which is a very informal and casual way to say father/old man, especially in comparison to the way he refers to Roger.)
