May've read through some of this blog's posts again and remember you mentioning or implying? in one of them that Flurry Heart does exist here, but wasn't born an Alicorn for obvious reasons so I'm kinda curious now if she's a Unicorn or something (Guessing Unicorn? But hey, surprise me!)

Nope, you're absolutely correct- Flurry Heart- aka Princess Mi Amore Fantasia Heart is a unicorn. She only has 1/4th pegasi DNA from her mom's side so they knew it would be unlikely that she'd be born a pegasus.

So what happened in the Crystalling , you might wonder? Well, all the family and royal sisters were greeting Flurry, when her Aunt Twilight Sparkle- running very late- teleported in. The baby unicorn absorbed and somehow managed to duplicate the advanced level spell the second she was out of her magic-constricting romper!

Flurry was teleporting all over the palace with no rhyme or reason to where she was going, terrifying her family who kept on worrying she'd end up inside an oven or a wall with no way to breathe. When she poofed on top of the Crystal Heart and stayed still it was almost a relief- until it toppled over and broke.

The loud noise made the baby cry, thankfully distracting her from teleporting long enough to put the magic constricting romper back on. But the events of the story continued very similarly from then on.

Flurry Heart never ascends to Alicornhood, but she does eventually inherits her mother's throne as Crown Princess. She is very talented in magic and love divination- the later being something her "Aunt" Ludustella teaches her.

Did the Windigos affect any of the surrounding kingdoms back during the founding of Equestria?

When the Draconquus of Hate felt himself losing his physical form, he knew he only had one chance to strike back. He stole the Sky energy that had been used against him by King Taevas, mixing it to create a curse against the beings the alicorns seemed to care for the most: the ponies.

The Windigos- named due the frosty winds that moved with them- do not have sentience of their own. If the hatred between ponies expands to a majority of the population, the coldness between them physically manifests to form the ghostly apparitions.

As long as a pony has hatred for other ponies in their heart, it is possible that it could spread among the population enough to manifest again. That was enough to make kingdoms eject their pony citizens, as no creature wanted eternal winter to keep crops from growing.

Thus, the pony tribes began their search for a new home...

Did you ever think of making a Discord server to talk to people about your AUs outside of Tumblr? or do you think the two might compete and possibly deteriorate the other?

Uhhh… I do have a Discord server that I set up for my fans/friends. But that server is very small and inactive most of the time because I’m so bad at being social- which is why I barely promote it. 😅 So I’m not sure running another one would be within my capabilities. 🤷‍♀️

But I would be open to adding a channel to said server for Lore talk if people were interested. I don’t think the two would compete because likely I would answer questions over there and then repost them on Tumblr with illustrations later. Since the reason I’m slow to answer in the first place is I like to draw things to go with the posts.

Sometimes too, I have overall ideas that I haven’t quite formulated into a readable prose that questions help with that. So perhaps the Discord would be more discussion based as opposed to the narrative format I have on tumblr.

But let me poll the interest here…

How did the other alicorns react to Harmonia and Megrin's "children"?

The Alicorn Cherish

…was much beloved by the other Alicorns. While generally a pony pleaser, Cherish tried to get along with everyone as the more love was around her, the more her power grew.

Cherish's ideals of love were more about the bonds that you share with the creatures you care about- whether romantic or otherwise. But as the Alicorns seemed to want to pretend Ludustella didn’t exist, it left Cherish uncertain how to treat the Draconequus she was raised with.

Ludustella, on the other hoof, had no trouble calling Cherish “sister”, and would tease her relentlessly as the Alicorn tended to “wear her heart on her sleeve”. Cherish worried endlessly about what other creatures thought when her little family went on picnics or spent time together.

But ultimately, she did treasure her weird little family- even though her love could not stop the war that would tear it apart.

Draconequus Megrim didn't understand why of all the Alicorns, Crown Princess Harmonia didn't seem to mind her. She was pretty sure that they had even invented just words to describe her- "pest" being the forefront. But Megrim was a creature of whim, so she continued to do what she liked.

Megrim would pounce on Harmonia's back, braid her hair without asking, show her whatever insect they found, and suddenly shout to surprise the princess. But whatever Megrim did- after the surprise would pass- Harmonia just giggled.

Megrim liked the sound of the alicorn's laughter, and soon found themselves wanting her make her laugh all the time. Before they knew it, Megrim was rarely not by the alicorn's side. This irritated some of the other alicorns, but when asked why she bothered to entertain the pest, Harmonia only said, "Megrim's my friend."

Megrim's feelings for the alicorn only grew. No one had called her a friend before! They tried to be a better creature for the Princess- kinder to the beings around her, using polite language, not setting anything on fire. But Harmonia wouldn't stand for it.

"I like you for you! Ever since I was little every creature treated me formly. But you let me be me! Please let me return the favor."

Their bonds changed after that in ways they had trouble explaining.

Harmonia liked the devotion they shared, the tender touches and rituals they only shared with one another.

Megrim liked how their emotions raced around, they could communicate through their bodies and how each moment together seemed more memorable.

Since those feelings weren't quite the same, two beings of Love manifested: the alicorn Cherish and the draconequus Ludustella.

The Draconequus Megrim

This draconequus loved spur of the moment decisions and actions without reason, so would often share those emotions with the beings created by Magic. The enjoyment it caused those beings were mixed, but Megrim rarely acted in malice.

While Draconequi can change their size at will, Megrim is about the size of a small cat on average. They are made up of a monkey, coyote, rabbit, munchkin cat, raven, chameleon, seagull, kea parrot, chipmunk, fox, goat and lunar moth.

Despite their differences, Megrim was Princess Harmonia's best friend.

I know Jousting is popular in the Crystal Empire what other sports are popular in your verse?

Buck Ball, of course!

San Franciscolt in particular really loves it and adores their team, The Miners! They have their own special stadium and everything.

Soccer- or hoofball- is also popular, although since ponies don't have hands, the rules regarding not using your hands with the ball is more so directed against using your mouths, magic, or flying.

Pegasi also have their own version of volleyball that they play in the mid-air, with clouds holding up the net and making up the boundaries. The size of the field is usually almost american football sized, but the boundaries are laid out like a giant cube. The ball can't go too high or too low, or it will be considered out. The rules are pretty much the same otherwise.

A lot of these are "how would ponies play human sports" - but I think those are the main ones I thought of.

2024 Update

Welcome, belatedly, to the new year folks!

Sorry I've been so slow on the art lately. It's a mixture of inability to get back into an art routine and burnout that's kept me inconsistent.

One of my new year's resolutions is to update all my ask blogs at least once every month, but hopefully it'll evolve into more.

+ For @askdaisydandfriemly, please keep in mind that I prioritize story related asks above all else- but still love character building asks and will try to answer non-story asks eventually.

Backgrounds usually slow me down a lot when I'm updating, so I'll try not to use them as much- or make them simple.

Also, I'm two followers away from reaching 600 there- so probably should plan a thank you something something. ;)

+ I have a big story I've been working on for @sanfranciscoltafterdark that's delayed me a lot as far as launching that blog goes, but feel free to send asks there.

+ I still have more to tell for @daedalverselore- but I feel like posts get better attention when I draw something to go with them. So I have a lot of Lore in the making but haven't managed to find the time to draw. ;_;

+ Poor @ask-a-ghost-balloon only had one ask when I logged in last, and I'll try to answer it soon. But feel free to question them too!

Hearth's Warming

"Let everyone stay to keep the Windigos away!" is a phrase often mentioned throughout the day. As the ponies of old did the first Hearth's Warming, creatures nowadays fill the areas near their household fires with guests to celebrate unity and friendship throughout the land.

In the Daedalverse, it is not uncommon to leave your doors unlocked Hearth's Warming Night. In fact, it is tradition to wonder the town and seek creatures that might've spend the holiday alone to their Hearth's Warming celebrations.

While special gifts may be prepared for close friends and family, it is also traditional to make hoof-made gifts for any unknown guests that could join in the festivities. Decorating the house, making a lot of food, playing games, and tending to the household fires are typically done with as many creatures as possible.

On this shortest night of the year, prayers are sent to Princess Luna for sweet dreams of the creatures in their life- old and new. Some say that the magic from so many creatures together is enough to let you walk through the dreams of the sleepers besides you.

Daisy Daedal is a pretty easy Harmonious Equestrian. But! As a filly, she was raised in the beliefs by a now defunct sect, Eternal Celestial.

It was basically the Eternal Sisterhood, but Princess Luna as was all but forgotten to time by the majority of the population, and Princess Celestia was seen as their sole goddess.

Obviously, Princess Luna’s return started a bunch of political upheaval, and for the Eternal Celestials it was divided into the two parties: The Eternal Sisterhood recognized the lost immortal sister and accepted her as a goddess, and the Solo Sun Society rejected her.

So Daisy does see the royal sisters as Goddesses, but is loyal and respectful in general to the Tetrarchy.

Political Leanings in Equestria

You may think that Equestria is a Tetrarchy , but in the Daedalverse, the Princesses encourage free speech- so subjects having opinions on the ones that rule them is not unheard of. Especially since Princess Luna returned. So let me tell you the main groups that are spread across Equestria!

Harmonious Equestria

The group that has the largest majority in the land. They like all the princesses, are happy with their lives and tend to go with the flow when things change. Sure, they may question some decisions, but as long as their lives don't drastically change they'll trust the Tetrarchy has their best interests in mind.

Nouveau Moon

This group actually has two sects, but both see Princess Luna as their true ruler.

-NM: Atavistic Order

This group was founded 1000+ years ago when Nightmare Moon first rose from Princess Luna's despair. Typically descended from her Bat Pony followers back then, they expected a rebellion from Princess Luna when Nightmare Moon returned. While they may not have gotten the government overhaul they expected, some of them are convinced that Princess Luna is bespelled by Celestia and are biding their time to come to her aide.

-NM: New Order

While not descendants of that really old rebellion a thousand years ago, these subjects were not content with Celestia's rule and when Princess Luna returned, saw her as possible change they needed. And things have changed since the Princess' return- so most of these subjects assume it's due to the Princess of the Night!

Solo Sun Society

"Things were great when Princess Celestia was the only one in charge!" Is the cry of this group. When anything goes wrong, Princess Celestia is blameless and all those other alicorns are at fault. When Nouveau Moon and Solo Sun Society members argue, no pony is safe from being dragged into their debates.

Eternal Sisterhood

Slightly more religious than the other groups, the Eternal Sisterhood believes that Princess Celestia and Princess Luna are to be revered and worshipped. Since they are immortal, their word is law! While they will obey the Ascended alicorns Cadence and Twilight, if the born Alicorns ever went against them they would be quick to side with their Sun and Moon Goddesses.

Risen Royalists

On the other side of the Eternal Sisterhood's leanings, is the Risen Royalists- Equestrians that think the born Alicorns have been in power for too long. Rather than immortal rulers that never die, Princess Cadenza Mi Amore and Princess Twilight are still mortal, and worked for their title. Theses subjects side with the younger Princesses and often loudly suggest the Royal siblings should step down from their throne.

Sea Ponies

Ponies under the element of water are less known to the ponies races. Of the four, they are the only ones with two forms- one of the land, and one of the sea.

In their sea form they can breathe water, and change physically so as to better move under water.

Before the four pony races were united under the two Princesses' banner, Sea ponies were ignored by the other three, as they did not see the benefits that the sea could bring.

Alicorns (like Celestia pictured here) have powers of all four races and thus, can take a sea pony form. It was this that helped the four pony tribes unite!

Crown Princess Harmonia

The Alicorn of Unity and Bonds (and the first born of the King and Queen), Harmonia loved being around other creatures. While most of the Alicorns spread across Equus to find their purpose, Harmonia loved to figure out how those purposes could help others.

By acting with kindness, generosity, loyalty, honesty, and gaiety, Harmonia created close bonds with other creatures. And in doing so, created more friendships in others.

Although prim and proper when acting as a Princess, Harmonia was much beloved by even Magic- who allowed her to strengthen her allies when she was near them. She rivaled even her parents in power.

Princess Twilight Sparkle received a lot of Harmonia's powers upon ascension.

Tempus and Memoriae

They say that the Alicorn of Time and his fraternal twin sister- The Alicorn of Memory- were born in the same thought.

The two were very close and never far from each other. While Memoriae often outshone her brother, Tempus was quietly ever present, enjoying her company.

Towards the end of the Draconequus War, they say Memoriae gave up her immortality to live with a mortal pony stallion. Others say that she was killed defending the family she made with him.

In his grief of loosing her, Tempus disappeared with the Breezies, creating the Enchanted Hollow to mourn.

I created a whole family tree for Snails, lol. It's canon for the Daedalverse. Only additions I have to add are that Mage Heart is around Shining Armor's Age (26-27), Daisy Daedal and her friends are around Big Mac's age (23-24), and Midnight Show and his friends are around the Mane six's ages (20-21) in the current blog storyline.

Snails’ Family Origins: OC and Headcanon VS Mostly Canonical Timeline

To be used with Snails’ Family Tree:

Only headcanon on the Canonical side is Shining Armor being older than Big Mac. I decided that because it seems like Shining was already in training to be a guard when Twilight got her Cutie Mark -otherwise why wouldn’t her BBBFF be there to support Twilight in her school test? Also, Shining is a little faster moving in his love life, but that could just be a personality thing, rather than an age thing.

King Taevas

Aka Princess Celestia and Luna’s father

They say the King only took physical form to embrace his Queen with his giant wings. The Alicorn of the sky and ruler of all beneath it, Taevas was actually much more known for his gentle nature.

The king spent most of his days in cuddle piles with his family, and was known for offering hugs for all who desired them. While both he and his Queen conceptualized new Alicorns with others, the two of them only made children with each other through Natura’s womb.

They say he only ever showed anger when his eldest child was killed in the war with the Draconequui, and the storm he made with his remaining grown children to battle them lasted a year.

Spark: The First Alicorn

At first, Spark was just a little glowing ball of light, following Magic around. They were endlessly curious about why things worked on Equus, so Magic gave Spark the power of Invention and Imagination so they could answer the questions themselves.

More and more formations and beings were created to answer those questions, until Spark asked themself- why do I look like this? Spark looked around for a form for themselves and modeled themselves after their favorite beings- ponies.
