Ready-Made Analysis
To find what might be your daemon, you can use personality tests as a starting point. I create my analyses based on people I know personally, you may not fit neatly into the categories I have created. I also have likely not done an analysis that fits you well yet. It can be a good place to start though.
Daemons by MBTI (test here) INTJ (the Architect) INTP (the Troubleshooter) ISFJ (the Guardian) ESTJ (the Commander)
Daemons by Enneagram (test here) Type 1 (the Reformer) Type 2 (the Helper) Type 5 (the Investigator) Type 3 (the Achiever) Daemons by instinctual variant (test here) sp/sx (the Hermit) sx/sp (the Magician) sp/so (the Handyman)
Additionally, I have a comprehensive quiz in the works!

Gyrfalcon Daemon: falco rusticolus
Tumblr media
MBTI type: INTJ Enneagram type: 1w9 Basic fear: to be trapped or bored
Neutral: independent, introverted, principled, objective Positive: intelligent, organized, visionary, wise, honest, discerning Negative: intolerant, perfectionist, impersonal, apathetic, critical
What you might have in common with falcons: Falcons are a diverse group of birds of prey. Anyone with a bird daemon likely has witches in their bloodline, and are more likely to be sensitives (people who can detect spells) than other daemons. People with falcon daemons are most active during the day, and have incredible social and intellectual intuition. People with falcon daemons are quick-witted, have explosive anger, a strong sense of justice, and are incredibly resilient. Many with falcon daemons also have a strong appreciation for the natural world, and feel more at home in the woods or a library than anywhere else.
Why you have a Gyrfalcon daemon: Gyrfalcons are the largest of the falcon family, and humans with them as daemons have an equally large presence. They are likely messengers and whistleblowers, people adept at identifying problems and doing whatever needs to be done to fix it. You may find you aren't well liked in the corporate world due to your inability to accept the status quo and high standards, and capable of handling extreme conditions that others would quickly crumble under. You have power and vision but humble needs, and only need efficiency and intellectual stimulation to be content.
Notes from Atlas:
My mother's daemon is a gyrfalcon by the name of Leifr. He is found to be very intimidating by many, likely because he is so quiet and my mother so small people don't notice them until it's too late. This is ironic, considering my father's much more fearsome Kodiak bear is often seen as less of a threat. My mother is the embodiment of the powerful, quick-witted, and easily bored gyrfalcon, and she has historically gotten in a lot of trouble for it. My mother's grandmothers were both witches, and she is a sensitive, something she passed onto me as well.

Lion Daemon: Panthera leo
Tumblr media
MBTI type: ESTJ Enneagram type: 3w2 Basic fear: to be wrong or reliant on others
Neutral: independent, extroverted, forward-thinking, ambitious Positive: strong-willed, honest, commanding, protective, friendly Negative: stubborn, judgemental, arrogant, lazy, territorial, vain
What you have in common with wild cats: You are most active at dawn and dusk, and value your mid-afternoon naps. Wildcats are friendly but still reserved around strangers, which will reflect in your personality. People may find it difficult to pin your age. You are probably standoff-ish and not enjoy hugs or people in your personal space...unless they are people you love. Wild cats are usually less agreeable than house cats, and you will have your fair share of people who seem to strongly like and dislike you regardless of what you do. You value your appearance and your day is ruined if you leave the house disheveled.
Why you might have a lion: People with lion daemons are fierce and extroverted, people who speak out and easily fall into leadership positions. Lions command respect and have very few competing species, and people with these daemons may often find themselves to be the most competent person in a room. Those with lion daemons are resourceful and scrappy. You may find you also perform with short bursts of energy, and prioritize your time relaxing and taking care of yourself. You keep your circle tight and don't take kindly to disrespect, and you are protective of the people you love.
Notes from Atlas:
In my experience, people with lion daemons all that confidence and predatory instinct can quickly burn bridges without self-reflection, something I find many with lion daemons lack. Take a beat to be mindful of the people around you and harness your skills as a leader, and I don't doubt you will be unstoppable.

Brown Bear Daemon: ursus arctos
Tumblr media
MBTI type: ISFJ (the Defender) Enneagram type: 2w1 (the Companion) Instinctual Variant: sp/so (the Handyman) Basic fear: to be unreliable or unjust Neutral: introvert, grounded, present, personable, loyal Positive: protective, kind, adaptable, dependable, playful Negative: aggressive, stubborn, single-minded, promiscuous
What you have in common with bears: Are you the person that people seem to come to when they need help? The one that can put everyone at ease and end any fight that comes their way? Your bear daemon might reflect this. People with bear daemons are dependable and fierce, and take care of their family and friends. People with bear daemons are often very "street smart" and adept at fixing problems of all kinds, social or mechanical. People with bear daemons are notoriously scrappy and can make do with little. You can be found active at all hours of the day and into the night. You may view yourself as aggressive, but others seem to ignore this and just think you are cuddly.
Why you might have a brown bear: Brown bears are more social, and people with brown bears tend to have greater social capacity than others with bear daemons. Many with brown bears may find themselves working in social service jobs or trades, as it is more important for them to feel useful than to greatly enjoy the job they are doing. People with brown bears may also find themselves to be "serial monogamists" with a long string of lasting relationships. You may also find your temper to have a legendary status. There are a few subcategories of brown bear daemons below that are further explored.
Grizzly bear: tend to be more fun-loving and easy going. Kodiak Bear: more intimidating and quieter when angry. Kamchatka brown bear: darker sense of humor, abrasive. Tibetan Blue Bear: more manipulative and elusive. Ussuri Brown bear: more uptight and rarely lets loose.
Notes from Atlas:
My father's daemon is a kodiak brown bear called Eistla. Having a massive daemon has inconveniences at times, but Eistla thankfully enjoys riding in the back of the truck. She is gentle and patient with little kids, who seem to disregard her teeth and craws for her fuzziness. My father and mother are both separated from their daemons, a procedure with very dark roots. I will write more about this procedure in a future post.

Ratel Daemon: mellivora capensis
Tumblr media
Note: A honey badger and a ratel are the same animal, and the terms are both used in this article.
MBTI type: INTP (the Logician) Enneagram type: 5w6 (the Troubleshooter) Instinctual variant: sp/sx (the Hermit) Basic fear: to be dishonest or inauthentic
Neutral: introverted, independent, tolerating, assertive Positive: adaptable, tenacious, confident, intelligent, dexterous Negative: temperamental, self-centered, critical, stubborn
What you have in common with mustelids: This kind of daemon is not uncommon, but with such a variety of subspecies from weasels, badgers, polecats, martens, otters, and wolverines, there are many different people who may find their daemon to be a mustelid. You are probably incredibly tenacious and stubborn, much like your animal counterparts, as well as incredibly adaptable. Most mustelids are solitary, and their people will also show reserved, introverted traits. If you have a smaller mustelids like an otter or marten you may be more friendly and inquisitive, while those with tougher daemons like wolverines and badgers may be more standoff-ish. Most mustelids are nocturnal, and you may also find yourself working late into the night.
Why you might have a Honey Badger: Honey badgers are more closely related to martens than other badgers, and are more territorial compared to other mustelids. You may find that you are more mechanically inclined, and enjoy picking locks and climbing, much like your animal counterpart known to excel at escaping captivity and using tools. People with Ratel daemons don't let other's opinions take hold of them, and while not immune to jabs and unkindness are much more tolerant of it than most. People with honey badger daemons are known to be reliable, hardworking, and adaptable, and good friends to have, although they will not take kindly to people who try to confine them with expectations.
Notes from Atlas:
I only know one person with a honey badger daemon. He has found many daemons to be skittish around him, mostly because of the renowned toughness of the honey badger that can take on much larger predators. He and Nada get on spectacularly. Daemons that are known to be more confrontational are very rare. This is because although many like the idea of a tough daemon, it is uncommon for someone to be so self-reliant and confident that they are okay with a fearsome daemon like a lion, scorpion, or black mamba.

Snow Leopard Daemon: panthera uncia
Tumblr media
MBTI type: INTJ (the Architect) Enneagram type: 5w4 (the Philosopher) Instinctual Variants: sx/sp (the Magician) Basic fear: to be useless or helpless
Neutral: introverted, resilient, idealistic, soft-spoken, independent Positive: insightful, authentic, patient, focused, self-aware, loyal Negative: vain, avoidant, restless, anxious, territorial, secretive What you have in common with wild cats: You are most active at dawn and dusk, and value your mid-afternoon naps. All wildcats are friendly but still reserved around strangers, which will reflect in your personality. People may find it difficult to pin your age. You are probably standoff-ish and not enjoy hugs or people in your personal space...unless they are people you love....then you are always in their personal space whether they want it or not. Wild cats are usually less agreeable than house cats, and you will have your fair share of people who seem to strongly like and dislike you regardless of what you do. You value your appearance and your day is ruined if you leave the house disheveled. Why you might have a Snow Leopard: Snow leopards are set apart from other wild cats because they cannot roar. Someone with a snow leopard daemon is more likely to walk away from conflict and avoid standing out. You may pretend nothing is wrong when you are angry then bring up your grievances much later. At their best, those with Snow Leopards are extremely socially savvy and reliable, and will prioritize efficiency in their life. They will be harshly analytical but tactfully direct, and never unkind for no reason. They may have many acquaintances but a select few friends.
Snow leopards also have a striking appearance that serves as excellent camouflage: those with this daemon will be very conscious of their appearance but never insecure, often even vain. They will seek credit for their achievements but not actively seek the spotlight. Snow leopards are also strongly associated with local Islamic, Shamanistic, and Buddist traditions, and are sometimes depicted as shape-shifters and protectors of sacred sites. Those with snow leopard daemons will value spirituality, and may find themselves drawn to studying metaphysics and theology.
Snow leopards are adapted to some of the harshest environments in the world, and their people thrive in environments most struggle with. Due to their idealistic nature, resilience, and social intuition, many people with snow leopards are resilient to a fault, and always take the route that challenges them rather than the easy way out. They will work to their extreme physical limitations. They are protective, loyal, patient and strategic; it is good to have them on your side, though mind that you aren't disrespecting them. You may not see their hurt until they leave you.
Notes from Atlas:
My daemon settled as a snow leopard when I was age 16. I was a little surprised, as she had spent a lot of time as an Ibex, and I suspected she would settle as that. As I have grown, her identity as a big cat has changed how people see us. Many associate cats with strong personalities, so our reservedness and desire to blend in has confused many I think. Having a female daemon as a woman has led many to question my gender identity, but I have found it just to be that we work well that way. My family also has a history of same-gender daemons, so there may be a genetic component as well.

The Anthropology of Daemons
Understanding your daemon can be a great exercise in self-reflection. By taking the time to determine what animal would best match your values, personality, and instincts, you better understand yourself.
There are three components to a daemon: species, gender, and their name. Each of these components are broken down below in an excerpt of an old anthropology textbook found in the library at Jordan College. The text has been transcribed to be more penetrable to a modern reader.
When children are young and their daemon is yet to settle, their daemons often take the form of wild and exotic animals for the fun of it. This is when children also are (often unconsciously) taking the time to determine their final form. As children get older, their daemons may take more strategic forms. A child that wants to stand out may find their daemon often in the form of a macaw. A child that is afraid of being an inconvenience may have a smaller, quieter daemon such as a mouse. There is no way to know someone's metal state or home life purely based on their daemon, but some trends do arise. When a daemon settles varies from person to person. There is no "right time". Some say a daemon settles when a person has reached maturity, but that may have more to do with cultural determination that a settled daemon means a "more reliable" person than actual, internal maturity. Someone who is born into a war zone may have their daemon settle at an earlier age than a child in a less stressful region. A child who is abused and benefits from a unsettled daemon may settle later in life, or settle earlier in a protective form. There are exceptions to every rule.鹿 The final form of a daemon is almost always animal. There are some historical anecdotes of those with protist or plant daemons, but these seem to have died out as humans have become less established to particular geographical areas.虏 The species of daemons does not appear to be regionally specific, but may have some correlation to one's ancestry. A daemon's form is largely determined by how you see yourself unconsciously, so one often must face their insecurities in the final form of their daemon. It is rare that a daemon changes after it has settled, much like we must learn to live with our insecurities rather than discard them. The gender of a daemon is still a largely unknown factor. It is most common for your daemon to be the opposite sex of yourself, but it is quite common still for one's daemon to be of the same gender as their human. This has historically been associated with homosexuality, but with better understanding of human orientation this theory may prove to be false.鲁 The name of a daemon is determined by the parents of the baby. It is common to include daemons of the parents in this discussion, and it is not unusual for the family to "live with" their new baby and daemon before giving them names. Daemons: An Anthropological Perspective Written by Professor Milford Rand, Published December 1877
Transcriber's notes (by Atlas)
1 ] As further research has been done in the past century, the connection between past traumas and daemon form have become more refined. This will be further explored later in my updated analyses.
2 ] Some examples of those with plant daemons (most commonly trees and palms) have been found more recently in indigenous peoples in voluntary isolation that have not moved homelands in thousands of years.
3 ] This has now been proved definitively false. There is no known reason for a same-gender daemon, but many suspect it may be an evolutionary advantage in male-dominated or female-dominated societies.
