Just an update: they have arrested the man the believe responsible.

Today is June 18, 2025, so these articles were posted on June 16. (Original post dated June 14 for those that don’t have their time stamps turned on.)

Minnesota Representative, Hortman and her husband were killed in what is believed to be a targeted act of political violence last night and Senator Hoffman and his wife weren shot multiple times by a man impersonating law enforcement. As of this time Hoffman and his wife are out of surgery and alive.

There’s a live statement ongoing.

If you’re local to these affected areas and someone claiming to be police come to your door, it is advisable to dial 911 and confirm with dispatch that they are legitimate officers and not the impersonator.

I don’t know if it’s still happening but Brooklyn police were reported to be moving in pairs to avoid being confused for the impersonator who is as far as we are aware, alone.

Please, please, please if you are going to the protests across Minnesota today, be extra careful of anyone in uniform. Cops are already not our friends, but this is an added layer of unpredictable violence.

Books on Libby have started disappearing.

My friend pointed it out first, and then I started noticing too. Why would books that multiple libraries definitely, 100% had digital access to a couple of months/weeks/days ago disappear?

Amazon is getting exclusive rights to them.

Ebooks that the public library once had digital copies of are now only available through Amazon. Audible boasts on their covers about Audible-exclusive audiobooks that did not used to be Audible-exclusive. Entire series and collections are disappearing overnight.

Keep your eyes on the privatization of media and your libraries.

Got my lab results this morning and they’re not too bad but I have still spent all of today so far hyper focusing on two tasks that should have been short ones instead of doing literally anything else I was supposed to. (One of those tasks being researching the small/simple diet and supplement changes my doctor is recommending.)

I just spent three hours pulling up carpet and staples for a friend’s home renovation and we all did nothing but chat and joke and have wonderful conversation the whole time.

Helping somebody move or renovate or giving them a ride to the airport is functionally the same as going mini-golfing or playing a board game: it’s an activity that you do that is made more fun by having good company, and which provides something to talk about when the conversation lulls.
